your vids totally don't look like they're from a console or so, and funnily enough, everything I've gotten from bisqwit TAS videos do look normal. besides from what I remember your vids were pretty big sized and looked like shit for their size, plus the fact they didn't have the right feeling made them unworthy contenders for using up disk space.

I didn't send any videos by him because all his videos look like shit so I deleted them after watching. Also, I don't think I've sent you all the videos I have yet, but whenever I'm not lazy enough to stay off msn, I don't see you online =P

dont forget that their timing can easily be off because capturing runs can cause videos be shorter than the actual length of a run, also measuring when to start and stop exactly, their times could very well be misjudged.

I'd like it if you would post savestates for all future WIPs as well.. the speeding up thing doesn't make any significance faster speed for me here and I can overcome that but really don't feel like "rewatching" all the previous every single WIP. thanks in advance now I think about it.. can I make my own savestates after watching each? I will try so this time, if it works then ignore the above ;) it would still be recommended though for when anyone would forget to make his own once.

you're doing a good job indeed, I was just trying to think along and maybe give some helpful tips. It's also good to know that my intuition was right about those 2. keep it up! :D

I have 2 questions Isn't it faster to backflip from 2nd to 3rd treasure? When you begin running forwards, can't it be sped up by doing a Z+A jump? Because the running in the start looks slow to me, but maybe it deceives me.

That's true, but I don't use any tools to play abnormal. If someone has seen any of my videos can confirm this right away. If I used re-recording and slow-down I would set much better times, it is obvious.
I don't know why you felt the need to defend yourself, I didn't say anything about the legitimacy/normality of your times.
Did I write that I know everything about the game, or that I am the best Mario player in the world? I talked about experienced players, that means community. Noone has discovered all the tricks we know now, it is the result of searching and playing of many Mario players during the last 9 years. And do you really think, that everything done in TAS'es can be done in the real machine in real time?
Well you were telling us you were one of the players that set times on that one page, so you should belong to players you refer to as experienced players. As if people don't search, play & discover before a run is made. Even more is done to get a run done. Lastly, I said some, so I don't know why you would think that I think everything done on TAS is doable on console. Anyway, we should stop talking about anything unrelative to the completion of this run.

I think it's funny cuz filimonas got his times using an emulator himself. Also, maybe some people don't notice, but I have noticed more than once that a TAS got improved on. Meaning they aren't always perfect the first time through. if those "experienced" players like yourself know so much, then how come you didn't know about the blast away the wall one? why haven't real speedrunners used some of the faster ways shown in TAS'es yet, when they are just as performable on a real console, perhaps needing some more dedication, but that should be zero problem for a real speedrunner. you only speedrun 1 single star at a time, so it's not like you have to redo a lot whenever you make a mistake. this need not be said, but speedruns and TAS are 2 different things and need not be compared really.

I thought I'd just mention this: for TTC, test if having movement or not makes any difference in lag produced etc

definitely get the red coins without the poles, it's a lot faster, Curtis even got 2:25 with several errors and it can be improved upon by a bunch still. I think it's out of the question to get near that time using the poles, even for TAS. you'll need the sub to be there, catch me on aim/msn for the video.

I have something you might want to look into. since the KTQ race takes so long, try and do the 100 coin star at that time. find out how many coins you can get while KTQ races up there and leaves you able to finish just ahead of him. then make a route of what coins to get before starting the race. And I say it's a must for the PSS to be at worst 12''4 both times, since that's the WR on a console (done by several). Note, I didn't watch test17 yet. In DDD you'll have to get the red coins (and 100 star coin) without using the poles, and the poles don't need to be there :p

I very much doubt I would, busy with a lot of things, wouldn't know how to connect a controller, the ROM I have seems to run way too slow, 1.2 can't strafe using keyboard, have almost zero knowledge about how to do a TAS (how to rerecord and such, haven't looked into it much at all, and I wouldn't want to have to find everything out myself = only more work/time for me then, so if I'd do one, I'd need someone to guide me and help me whenever needed) etc

I suppose you should search for SM64 tricks then. It's been a while since there last was activity in the game, so I can't remember any sites from head. I do have quite some videos though, so you could contact me for those if you want. Ask other people for knowledge on the game, Curtis Bright and Myles Bukrim have some great strategies for their fast times. such as doing the red coins in DDD (without using the poles)(which would also be the 100 coin star). I have about every video I could find on SM64, fast times, tricks, glitches, what else.
