Ash wasn't screwing around when he said he wanted to catch 'em all! But seriously, could you imagine if they actually did this sort of thing in the show? Honestly, think about the hilarity that would ensue! "Hey Pikachu, do me a favor and slam yourself into that wall over there while I drop twenty-four of all the stuff in my backpack on the floor." "Pika! (tackles the wall)" "Okay, let's go downstairs." (teleports to Cerulean City) "Yes! It worked! Now tell my whole team to come out, and tell everyone in every second spot to switch places with everyone in every 4th spot four times, and then give them this object that looks like an overheated plate of spaghetti."

The second I watched this I went bananas. I figured it was time I stopped monkeying around so I watched this. This is more fun than a barrel of---nevermind.

I, um... don't understand the question. You said you've used TAStudio before, but it sounds like you're asking how to use it. If you know how to use it for one game, the exact same process would apply to any other game of any genre. If that's not it, then what exactly are you asking?
I can see where you might have misunderstood me. What I'm asking is how would I go about TASing a fighting game with TAStudio, not how to use TAStudio for just any game. Sorry if my question seemed unclear. I'm actually TASing SF2T right now.[/u]

I've used TAStudio for personal TASes before, of games like Sonic 2 and Mario games, but I have yet to try it with a fighting game. I'm going to start with making a playaround of Street Fighter 2 Turbo for the SNES. I would use the virtual pad but I prefer the ability to go back and fix mistakes on a sequencer/piano roll. How would I go about doing this on the piano roll?

Admins please move this if not in the correct area thnx :) So ever since CheatEngine got a sweet new Speed Hack feature, now you can slow ANY game down without console commands and record a video at your own pace, and when played back, the video plays at normal speed! Yes, ANY game works with this feature! Half Life 1, Call of Duty, even the mouse cursor is recorded at double speed! Examples: Link to video Link to video Link to video

So get this; you know how some TASes control 2 or 3 or 4 players? What if one of us started doing Playaround TASes with full 4 player parties (or two player?)? Thoughts?

Two starting characters. Two stages. Over 200,000,000 websites almost, dedicated to creating content for this game. Over 16,000 characters made for this game. Endless possibilities. And now that Hourglass supports M.U.G.E.N., it can be TASed now. Imagine it. A custom build of M.U.G.E.N., with its own TAS! What do you guys think?

It's currently 4:10 AM where I am. I have just woken up. The only light in my hotel room comes from the floodlight over the sink and the HD TV on my dresser. I cannot go back to sleep because of one question... Why don't we start TASing homebrew games? Think about it; people are now making games for old consoles from scratch now; even Atari 2600 games are still being made! Not only that but they're getting physical incarnations as cartridges/discs/cards/casette tapes(?)/floppy disks! So how can we show the people that worked their fingers to the bone to create these wonderful things we appreciate them? By beating the crap out of their games as fast as possible, with the power of robotic input! The question is, what homebrew games exist that are of high quality enough to get TASes?

Do you know of any TASable game version?
I do know there are some WonderSwan games that are Mahjong and there are a few on the NeoGeo Pocket Color but I don't know if Bizhawk supports the NGP Color. You know what, I think I'll fire up BizHawk today and see what I can throw together in TAStudio.

First of all, sorry I've been away so long. I know it's been a long while since I've been here, life has been kicking my ass lately. I'm still faithful to you guys, don't worry! Second, I would definitely like to see a Mahjong TAS. Not the mahjong everyone knows, where you have a huge stack of tiles you have to match away, I mean the one that's kind of like Poker, I think it's called Riichi Mahjong? The kind that's played in arcades, against two or four people. I think a Mahjong TAS would really be interesting to see, considering the rules of riichi mahjong and the way it's played compared to hotseat casino games in America. I had the link to a webpage where you could actually learn how to play riichi Mahjong and practice against CPU opponents but I lost it. Anyway, someone TAS this! I think it would be a huge step up for TASes of JPN region games. What do you think? Of course, anyone's opinion is as good as mine. In my opinion I think it's a great opportunity to explore ways to manipulate luck, but what you guys think is up to you. Should we do it? Should we start TASing riichi Mahjong?

Lately I've been experimenting with TASing NES games and while I may not be ready to submit a TAS yet, I've decided to do and upload practice movies to you guys to monitor how good I'm getting. Think of it as me being a school student submitting tests I take. What I need you guys to do is study these movies I submit and tell me what I'm doing wrong, what needs improvement, that sort of stuff. I'm going to start with the original Super Mario Bros. What do you think?

It occured to me While making a bot I sat for a while And Pondered a Lot A puzzle game? or a game of Chess? An adventerous game? Or something a little less? Then I found it, a simple test To prove that ya'll are really the best Can you play these games With not a single touch? Or is this challenge A little too much? Why the hell am I rhyming? Anyway, Yes! I thought of some challenges for you guys in case you have nothing else to do. These challenges all have one catch; you have to use Emuhawk's Basic Bot, NOT manual input! Can you achieve victory by randomly pressing buttons? This is also an experiment to see if Basic Bot really can beat a game by random button mashing. Anyway TETRIS & DR MARIO SNES Clear 1P mode using only a bot THE LEGEND OF ZELDA NES Get the sword with only a bot then use the bot to grind for rupees - No damage - Cannot do anything else until you get the sword ZELDA II NES Get Link to the Town of Ruto with only a Basic Bot - Pacifist - No Items Trust me, more evil challenges to come >:)

Well you got me there. That being said, while I was Botting zelda 1, the bot did a glitch where Link went through the top of the screen! Even while it doesn't learn, it still does amazing stuff! I'm botting Solitiare right now to see how it "learns" :P So, in all actuality, how DO I use Basic Bot?

I finally discovered an easier way to make bots! Which I already knew you guys knew. Anyway, how exactly do I use Emuhawk's new Basic Bot tool? I've experimented with The Legend of Zelda, Zelda 2 and Crystalis, with the sliders on the Controls part, but all it seems to do is seizure its way into the target destinations. It appears to be struggling to learn, but what do I do to improve it and actually make it play?

How does submitting movies under production work? I'd like to know because I'm playing a GBC YuGiOh game and Monster Rancher Battle Cards so I can TAS them. I have a sudden craving for card battle games and I think that would be a great start in my TAS career as a beginning TASer. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

As my Tamagotchi joke TAS comes ever closer to being halfway done, with day to day interruptions albeit, I keep having to pause my TAS so I can figure out more routes. One thing I'm trying to figure out is how to read RAM addresses and how to use the disassembler, but for right now I'm just focusing on visual learning; NOTES Before I go on about my route, I need to add a few footnotes. First off, I wait a couple frames inbetween everything I do because since this is a practice TAS I will upload to YouTube, I want to see how the hunger timers and wellness timers function.
FRONTEND START
press A to skip to main menu
goto OPTIONS, set game speed to fast
This way my little blobs will die--I MEAN, age faster :)
EXIT options
select NEW GAME
select CHOOSE EGG
select HEARTS EGG
name egg SWEET (My sister Sophia suggested that.)
hatch SWEET then go to DR BANZOO MENU
select CHOOSE EGG
select YOSHI EGG
name egg TNT (Also my sister's suggestion)
hatch TNT then repeat process for naming &?!'.0
I noticed during my TAS that the outcome of what happens after birth is different each time the game is started.
feed ALL THREE
During this I go to the menu and quickly scroll through Dr. Banzoo's Explain menu just as a playaround, for entertainment. Hopefully with gamespeed on FAST I can grow some Tamagotchis in a short amount of time.
play SMILE GAME with SWEET
Here I use a ton of savestates in order to get the Smile game completely right. The object of the game is to guess which way your Tamagotchi will look. This game always increases happiness, so I always play this one the most.
During the process I found it seems it doesn't matter what food you give them when they're hungry, but I found a secret which I don't use here; if you hatch a Tamagotchi from a black egg and feed it nothing but carrots until it's six, it turns into Mimitch, a Tamagotchi that is BOSS at the math minigame. complete SMILE GAME then feed CAKE to SWEET switch to TNT feed TNT MEAT [/code] While playing normally I have gotten pretty good at the game, I still own a cartridge from 1996 that STILL WORKS and I have been able to grow a tama to at least 2 years old. Alternatively there have been times where they die on me at baby stage, so I could say my skill level is hit-miss with this game.
feed &?!'.0 CAKE <-- This fills 1 hunger and 1 happiness.
as a playaround, stuff SWEET full of CAKE and ICE CREAM <--This is for the "til death" part and is part of the playaround. I'm cruel >:P
While I force feed this poor bloke, I'd like to share a sad story. When I first played this game as a child, I kept feeding my first Tamagotchi fully of cake, and I just kept feeding it. Suddenly without warning the screen started flashing, and the game showed me my pet was dead. Here, I attempt to relive that terror for your entertainment :P
feed SWEET CAKE then switch to TNT
PRAISE TNT then switch to &?!'.0
wait a few frames for happy animation to stop, then feed &?!'.0 MEAT
What I'm doing here is trying to stay correspondent to their names; SWEET will only occasionally eat meat while the rest of his diet is sweets, while TNT and the corrupted name eat primarily meat and bread.
By this time, 1 Day is spent. They should be going to sleep soon.
I wait a few frames before switching back to SWEET.
At this point I'm going to try to keep their hunger and happiness all the way up at all times, so they evolve quickly, so I'll be feeding them lots of sweets and playing lots of Smile Games.
At baby stage they're hard to take care of, and when they go to sleep, you can't do anything except set the clock ahead. This means if they go to sleep while sick, they risk death a lot more. Feeding them too many sweets can make them sick, but that's why we have the medicine button :)
Now that SWEET is bouncing around, there's not much else to do so I wait a few frames before switching to TNT. On TNT, I purposely wait until the sun is all the way up before switching to &?!'.0.

I know I posted about Playarounds before I'm sorry, but I thought of something. First of all, I thought a good way to practice TASing is to TAS some games in either VBA or Bizhawk, as playarounds, and upload them to Youtube instead of here so I won't get in trouble. Then, you guys can look at them, tell me what I'm doing wrong, and then I can fix the movies from there. Plus it'd be fun to watch :P And yes I remember, Playarounds still have to beat the game, which I will try to do.

Here's a game certainly not attempted before on TASVideos. It's an RTS for the GameBoy Advance. You control robots who gather resources to prepare for an attack on an enemy base. And yes, it's multiplayer! After FINALLY learning how to resume recording of movies, I have a WIP in the works. PS: If this is in the wrong category please feel free to move it to the right spot. It's been a while since i've been online and I'm a little rusty.

Been so bored this morning, and this happened to come to mind. The internet is a big place and that means there's a lot of flash games out there, so I was wondering if anybody knew of something like this if it so happened to exist. I know it sounds crazy but you never know, someone out there may have had enough time on their hands? Anything out there?

Yes I know I've done nothing but post on the forums but I don't have my own computer right now. I'm really sorry and I'm working on it. Second of all, SNES9x includes SNES mouse emulation, and naturally, Mario Paint is compatible with snes9x. Considering this I've been pondering what a TAS of Mario Paint would look like. I tried it myself one time but it didn't look too well; it seems that instead of tracking where the PC's mouse goes, it does so within the emulated game itself. On the bright side if it COULD somehow be feated, it would make for some entertaining speedpaint videos.

What's this?! ANOTHER Tamagotchi game? This time on N64, my first ever console that I learned to play by myself?! (First of all, I realize that nowadays, Tamagotchi is more a female thing, but the only reason I fanboy over it is because I'm a 90's kid and I grew up with these things. I've actually been a Gotchi fan for quite a while. Anyway.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pp1vEghPmZI NOT MY VIDEO DON'T KILL ME! So after Bandai blessed the world with the gift of adorable little keychain pets that grow up to be 30, apparently it gained huge success not only in America but Japan as well, spawning a slew of video games including the GBC game I grew up with, the N64 game you see here, and when Tamagotchi Connexion came around it spawned three DS games, a few 3DS games and a Wii game called Tamagotchi PARTY ON! [which I'm assuming is called Minna de Tamagotchi World 2 or something in Japan, I'm not sure.] Looks pretty interesting, eh? How it works is, four players take turns competing to see who can raise their Tamagotchi better. During each player's turn, their Tama can act just like they do as keychain pets, getting hungry/full, happy/sad/mad, wanting attention, and yes, dying eventually. If your pet dies, you're out of the game. Last one standing wins! (Oh, and they talk in this game, which I think is pretty neat.) これ は 私 の 渡さ れ た たまごっち 、バフィー の メモリ に 特 化 し た !
