I just watch it, very nice, just one little thing, in the middle of the first level you seem to bump in the wall and it would be faster to jump earlier to same maybe a couple of frame

Also, your "reliable recording application" is an emulator called FCEU. It's all there in the FAQ.
moozooh, no offence, but that's why I refered to speedrun and Tool-assisted speedrun. Just to make a clear distinction for those who are new to the forum. (post count =1)

Personally, I don't think that a game choice should make a No vote. It should be 50/50 with the game choice and the quality of the run. Like choosing a game that is really boring and not interesting, but that the TAS is of great quality should at least gives a Meh.

hum try to make it yourself ? Post a WIP of your work ? And then someone might get interested, and you might even discover the wonderful world of TASing. PS : it's not a speed run but a TAS run. Speed run usually refer to real-time playing, and TAS refer to Tool-assisted video.

It doesn't matter, as long as the emulator have rerecording, and that it is approved by Bisqwit. If it's a new emulator, there's a lot of chance that it does not implement rerecording. Also, the file format must match a working emulator on Windows or Linux because that's what the encoder use to make AVI from the emulator.

And at the speed you skip text, you would have no time to read anything. Thus it will be - Run run run - open close at the speed of light the text - run run run - End of the game

Game Buzz is only a great name, you can find any game there at almost twice the price. I really don't know how they make money.

Well Tub, I agree it's useless, but remember that things change over the time, sure, if you read a book of 1990 in 2002, there's a lot of thing that changed. But the second edition is more up to date, with new standard :P And some of them will surely be out of date in a couple of year. For the moment, it's a good book so far ;)

Tub, in what context are you glad to have not followed the example. I'm currently working in a project which include a master system, a couple of subsystem, having 250 forms and 300 classes, 11 modules. And I find really usefull most of the exemple so far. Having known most of the techniques would have been a great help a couple of years ago, now I can only which we will follow most of these example when we'll switch the code to .net.

Hi, i'm currently reading Code Complete Second Edition and it's a great book for anyone that do programming. It gives a lot of advice on how to start a project, and how to see if you are on the right path. Then a coworker of mine told me that I could read Rapid development, and I'll be reading it after code complete in a couple of week. Anyone knows other good programming books ?

Can you record the fact that you start the game like this, if not, you won't be able to replay the movie unless you make this trick, and that would be useless. Also, you can't go over the maximum limit. which you can obtain by pressing the joystick to the maximum, so I don't think it would be faster.

If it's not required, then it don't deserve to be coded. That's an advice from Code Complete Second edition.

You should start a thread in the appropriate forum, and post WIP once in a while, you would get feedback, and maybe other will find tricks that you where not aware of. That's a good thing to do, and Welcome to the forum :)

zefiris : Could you wrap up the idea and update the first post, that would be easier to ask for things that are not already suggested ;) Yesterday, I read a post by Bisqwit and he was explaining out to improve the Megaman Hack, and it was nice to see how we could possibly improve a run. I think it would be great in the tutorial.

I don't know if it was that tracker, but it had been reported a couple of time that the tracker was either down, or users was unable to connect to the tracker. Still I was connected to other users but not the tracker itself.

I think that subpixel positioning is another thing that I don't get, and that I would like to see explain :)

Frame advance, you have godly precision because you do it frame by frame, you can just on the first possible frame, and find pattern for speed and things like that with Memory Watch. But it would be nice to have a little tutorial to start tasing. Anyone that do tas would like to take a hour to do it ? Like showing slowdown, frame advance, and memory watch to find little things in a game. I think it could be nice for newcommer.
