Ok, I think it is time to rethink what we have for movie classes. Just recently I removed "Aims for fastest time" since about 95% of the movies have this class. It is assumed that a movie has this unless stated otherwise. I also added a "Playaround" class that can be used to specify movies where there is no time consideration. Other things I was considering: teddy_surives: ????A category that will only be used for one game, let's delete this Ignores delays caused by bonus effects: Isn't this a relic? It could be removed. One player controls two characters, three characters, etc: Change to just 2 Players, 3 Player, 4 players, etc. 2 Players: This is a relic that was intended to mean 2 authors, that's irrelevant and can be deleted. What do you guys think of this? And do you have any suggestions for new classes, deleting classes, or renaming them? Also, what about some new genres? I remember a few times over the years where a game didn't fit into a genre adequately. I've forgotten which games specifically.

You also have QuickHex that is really nice for this type of situation. Just know that splicing pieces of movies will cause desync more often that not.

This screams for some kind of automated site feature.

Switch to the new PPU and it will be fixed.

Now, let's please quickly publish that SMB DS movie which has 1/4 of rerecords and tiny mistakes such as saving after each level instead of skipping it, looking very low-quality overall, and being boring to only 50% of the viewers...
I don't think this is a fair argument to support your point. That publication was made by me in a unilateral decision. My decision was based on a desire for a bigger push towards DS TASing, and hopefully bring in a new generation of younger gamers to the TAS scene. It does not reflect the technical quality standards of the site nor do I pretend it does. (Whether I was right or wrong to make that decision shouldn't be relevant here either. The deed has been done so let's please not start an argument on that subject.) Please don't use it to suggest hypocritical standards of mmbossman. (If you want, I can help you find valid examples of his Hypocrisy and bias. But even then I don't know that it really supports your arguments well). Also, I think those who are complaining in this thread fail to see any changes that have happened since the time when their mind got made up. However, I don't think mz or xkeeper will be happy as long as we have quality standards. If I am right, there is not middle ground between us unfortunately :/ (Also, we aren't the Borg. Why is everyone treating Baxter or mmbossman like we all share the same collective opinions?)

This is an excellent idea, but I'd also like to suggest that people are informed why 1.51 is better than 1.43. Specifically, people did not use 1.51 sooner due to new bugs and problems. Do you know what these problems were, and more importantly, have they been addressed? Information encouraging users to change should be the goal, rather than forcing hand.
From what I am hearing, the desync issues have been fixed in the latest versions of 1.51. But yeah, NO effort has been made to publicize this fact. Maybe the first step is to get the word out. Then start talking about phasing out TASVideos support for 1.43.

How about before this gets too uncivil, we change it up and at least make it a poll or a discussion about the issue.

I have the published movie, and am now seeding. I can also upload it if needed. EDIT: Uploaded, last I checked there are 6 seeds for this.

I voted no because I think this game has far more potential than what is shown here. Something along the lines of what Baxter had planned would be much more entertaining.

Sounds good to me. Get a forum admin to change the names or any other reorganization, and you can use your mod powers to do the rest.

Treat it like the Pulseman videos? Heavy glitch vs moderate glitch?
Super Metroid has the same situation. However, I'm not a fan of this situation. I'd like to avoid it when possible. To me it sounds really lame to have try to make distinctions between which glitches are ok and which are too glitchy to be in a (low)non-glitched run.

Hmm, that's true it is a glitch that is only on the European ROM. We have precedent for that being a separate category. Now I am on the fence :(

Ok, so this is a big bag of awesome, and the votes warrant acceptance. So instead perhaps the convo should shift towards obsoletion. One thing I don't like is when there is a glitched run and a non-glitched run that uses glitches. So I'd like to avoid that situation before it happens. Thus, I vote that this obsolete the published movie.

No, it is still the judge's job to do this ;) No, a movie editor can not make a judgement on a movie. They can set it to cancelled which is different (and would only be used in certain cases, such as an author submitting an improved movie but forgetting to cancel their previous). Obviously this could be abused, but it is pretty transparent and could easily be handled.

I have recently added a new user role: Movie editor. You can see more info on http://tasvideos.org/Users.html This change affects all editors however. Editors are no longer able to edit classes and files of publications. This however, does free me up to be more liberal with giving out editor ranks (just ask!). Movie editors can edit the classes and files of publications, but they can also edit the movie headers (including the game name). They can also edit submission text, and even cancel submissions. If any editor would like to be upgraded to movie editor, let me know. Just keep in mind that I will expect movie editors to use these privileges (for good not evil). I plan on adding/changing some other user roles in the near future. In addition, I plan on adding and assigning new site permissions to user roles. If anyone has any ideas regarding these, I am open to suggestions.

Different enough from other tetris games to not be redundant and it was a neat run. I vote yes.

Entertaining run, I vote yes. This seems to be the Sega version of the NES Last Crusade that was reviewed by AVGN. The sega version is a whole lot better :D

VBA V22 released! Win32 binary This version has a number of bug fixes and lua features. But most importantly it features a long over due Ram Watch dialog! In addition it has 7z archive support (like FCEUX and GENS).

Is that really something to aim for?
One time for at least a few minutes, YES. It has been my goal for 4 years and I haven't managed to achieve it.
Movies are submitted on a more or less steady pace (which is a great thing), and optimally they would stay on the submission queue long enough for people to have time to vote and comment on them with enough detail. Rushing movies to publication or rejection for the sole reason of keeping the queue at 0 would only mean that people don't have that much time to comment and vote on them, which I don't see as such a good thing.
You are stirring up trouble here without even looking at the facts. Every movie was judged adequately. The audience had their say and the judgement was largely based on that. At least look at the details before you decide it satisfies your thesis topic.
