Well my other ideas failed. I can't seem to improve your fm2. That's cool... So about a 75 frame improvement. Biggest smb2 improvement in a long while. I'll have to try some more to improve it later.

No:)
The way you did it brings me to another idea. Going to try something quick.

Out did me, nice. I didn't know the exact conditions for how the glitch was to be performed. I wonder if it'd be faster to pick up an enemy at the end rather than going a bit farther with the carpet.

wow umm... That looks like it should save time for the warp run. Now to think of a way to do that a bit quicker. EDIT: With the test run I just did it looks like some time can definitely be saved. EDIT2: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1397416841/smb2_warp_improvement.fm2 ctrlaltdestroy, I'm glad you mentioned this. :) Also ^ the above link should be improvable. I didn't spend much time.

I can't watch the fm2 right now. I'm curious though... do you think doing that can save time in 1-2 for the warp run? I'm just curious. I like how time savers like this seem to pop up and that I've never considered.

It takes a minute I think and it involves exiting and entering the water multiple times + you need to kill a goomba in the cave and activate a blue coin switch etc. so it might be useful, but it's unlikely.
Would it make any sense to possibly go straight to the blue coins using the method in the video and then getting the other coins after + going after a different star? Sorry, I am pretty much a n00b about this (oddly).

Yes, so that TAS is useless, but very entertaining I might add.
I'm confused, how long does it take to get 100 coins though? Also, wouldn't that video be useful for a 120 star run?

wow, I've never seen that before. I wonder why that happens. Also, I wonder how many spots that could be used in.

Very short, nice going. 1 frame for something this short is worth it as I've said in the past. :)

I liked it. It was kinda slow, but it had quite a few unexpected things. Also, I couldn't help but like the pausing jump technique you kept using. I was hoping you'd be able to avoid it at some spots though.

I get the feeling this game is nearly impossible to perfect. =P I'll be happy to watch this when an encode is made (Lets just say that my past experience with SNES emulators was... less then pleasant, that, and I don't actually think I have the disk space to actually get past the logo+movie combining stage).
I don't think many RPGs can come even close to perfection.

Alright, so after looking at the "Things you don't think you'll ever see in a TAS" thread, I noticed one of Bisqwit's posts. Basically he said he wouldn't expect for a hammer to be used in DK. and from this I remembered something that might work to save time in the TAS (Using a hammer). I'm not sure if this works, but from what I remember it should. On the rivets stage: Get a yellow rivet, grab a hammer and drop through the new hole you created. If you hit an enemy at the same time you touch the ground on the level or two below you, you don't die. This may or may not work, but I seem to remember this happening once. Also, if this worked it should definitely save time by just climbing up the left side, getting all the rivets, going to the right side, getting a hammer and dropping down to all the lower rivets on the right side (well, it would require quite a bit of enemy manipulation I guess if it works).

Has anyone tried using the time stopper item in order to kill any of the bosses faster? Would getting this item manipulate their positions in favorable ways possibly?

These are like the perfect things that should be considered to improve runs. heh...

There are two things about this that make it a little bad for TASing: - All the levels are autoscrolling - There isn't much of a variety of gliches/tricks Both beyond glitchman's control... It's a poor game choice and thus it'll probably be rejected.

Voted meh. it was a pretty decent run. I enjoyed different aspects of the game itself and the glitching kept me pretty entertained. However, it was just a bit too long and I just was hoping there would be more of those random other types of minigames (like the guitaring one), that was pretty funny. I guess I did enjoy it quite a bit despite the length, maybe I should have voted yes. I'm on the line here really though.

I often try and show my friends my speedruns and then I show them some TASes. Sometimes it's hard to explain things to people that think it's some sort of "cheating" or codes were used or something. I generally just tell people that video games have errors and it's fun to exploit them. When I've told people the process of TASing, they cringe. Basically inferring "why would you waste all your time doing THAT!?". I've tried to show my friends the most interesting TASes, but they aren't really interested in seeing more. Some of these people are even hardcore gamers, but they're just not interested in speedrunning/TASing like we are.

I thought that *not* jumping for the wand at the end of airships was the fastest method... EDIT: Guess I am misinformed :o
