In the original game you dont get points at the end of any of the castles.

so with the smashola glitch I can only get 388 for an ending time. I only got that a few times out of many tries. I dont know how well I will be able to speedrun this game. EDIT: I'm improving with the smashola glitch.

I was planning to follow TG rules as well. anything lower than 10:45 souns a little unlikely, but maybe not as I have not been able to test anything out at all yet. I think I'm getting my TV fixed so I can test some things out today. I kind of doubt you would be able to pull off a perfect run like 10:37 or below that. Whoever doesn't do the last level would probably be so mad at the other if he screwed up. anyways, good luck. Even If my run doesn't beat yours, I'm still going to try to beat the current run on SDA and TG. i"ve always thought about if like 15 people played 1 level each on a speedrun like this, would the run be perfect if they practiced only their particular level? I think this will be a fun game to speedrun again. since my best time on this game is only 12:17 SDA timing, I think this will be a little difficult.

"Like in level 1-2 in smb1, I can press back for a split second, but not lose any frames what-so-ever, but If i do that in 8-2, I lose 21 frames" My run is probably technically better than scott's run on SDA now, but due to the 21 frame rule it isn't which is just annoying. That is really aggrevating. anyways... so now I know never to press back in an SMW run unless it is needed. I have learned much. thank you. EDIT: Looking up the smashola glitch on TAS.

There are not frame rule type things in smw right, so the exact time I get is more accurate. I dont know if I'm saying this right. EDIT: Like in level 1-2 in smb1, I can press back for a split second, but not lose any frames what-so-ever, but If i do that in 8-2, I lose 21 frames.

If wish it had been like that in smb1... I would have a time of 5:05 by now. thanks for the help. Hopefully I can complete this run soon. EDIT: The 21 frame rule stops my run from being faster than it should be some things and slower than it should be on other parts.

Hmm. I'm going to watch the TAS and time certain things to determine how much time I should be able to save. EDIT: Is this game like smb1 and have the 21 frame rule type of setup? Do I have to get 1 game unit faster to save the 0.7 seconds in each level?

It's like 42-43 frames we think. As far as I know we haven't timed it. So that would mean about 0.7 seconds. You should know that thegreginator and skamastaG are doing an 11 exit console run for this game already. Competition is fun though so good luck.
Have they given up? I looked at the smw topic on sda and I guess they were aiming of a time of 10:51 as well. I'm going to test out some things on the game tommorow. I am going to examine some things first though.

I've decided I am going to work on a minimlaist speedrun for super mario world. i'm going to start practicing once I get a TV fixed. I think I can get 11:05 by TG rules or 10:51 SDA rules. I would think I can acheive this after watching an old TAS and scott kessler's run on SDA. I can see where improvement can be made easily with a little practice. Does 1 game unit = about .8 seconds?

I wish I could juggle 7 balls, I'm getting close. I completely agree with you warp. I'm a speedrunner and I really dont understand how you start to make a TAS run. I have no clue at all. I enjoy that TASes are made because I have something to shoot for. It's just all about experience and practice in whatever you do. TAS runs or speedruns. That's pretty sad if you believe that video was done by a 6 year old.

When I'm not busy, maybe I will attempt a minimalist run of the game. I think I have a time of about 12 mintues. I remember having many errors. A full run of the game would be fun. I might do that as well.

being fiery mario and small in super mario bros. 1 is a pretty good glitch, one of my favorite. also, warping to the other side of the screen using the vine in 4-2 I enjoyed. ever gone over the wall in rush 2 for the N64 in stunt mode? it's kind of weird. in smb2 and smb3 you can walk right through the final boss' lower halfs, it's really dumb. (wart and bowser) in one of the 007 games for gamecube, you can use your "powers" the one that makes the other player dazed for a second, from accross the whole map!

I have a question reguarding smb1, so i was thinkiong here is probably the best place to ask it. Is it actually humanly possible to get a 244 on level 8-3; that is, on a console? Do you have to press left and right at the same time in order to do it?

I would think that would be the fastest way to get a lot of points if that's what you were aiming for. just a thought. I think if you can continue to kill viruses in chain reactions, your score will keep increasing. I just thought it would be cool.
