Could this be another feasible idea? Make the bot check if there's a [quote="whatever"] line in the post, and if there is, make it add to the irc announcement something like "(as a response to whatever's post)". Ok, maybe that doesn't really add any useful information, but I just wanted to throw the idea.
A similar idea would be to harvest other useful information - perhaps a mapping of words to topics, and whenever a word is found in the mapping that topic could be listed: "xxx posted about metroid and deassembly"

What 4 letters have the most anagrams which are also words? No double letters. Brand names and proper nouns count as words here, provided they are fairly common. My best is E, N, O, S: NOSE (That thing between your eyes) NOES (Plural of no) NEOS (Plural of neo) ENSO (A type of Ferrari car) SONE (A measure of sound) ONES (Plural of one)
You missed EONS

I don't like the whole stats/specials maxed out bit, especially since that is mainly done to justify the most repetitive part of the movie (the high score competition runs), but I can understand why they were done and seeing the 18mil score makes it a little better. The rest of the run makes up for all that though - The constant stream of tricks while completing all the goals makes for a great run. So I gave a yes vote for that.

Puerto Rico is a common wealth and Guam is a territory. I don't really know of other countries that put the word "America" in their common country name so the US called it the way I see it. The words "United" and "States" are both generic anyway and "America" is the only proper word in the official country name.
That offends me - I'm a Unitedian.

A bot would almost always be boring during auto scrollers (that or spazzing out). A human usually adds something interesting and/or entertaining to the area.
But theoretically, a bot could be programmed to be entertaining whenever possible. It could even be programmed to make an entertaining movie without aiming for time. It would definitely be hard to do, but completely possible.

Indeed. But for a computer, the problem is far more profound. Even writing a program that identifies which object on the screen is the player character, is something I would refuse to do because it is too difficult (without extensively customized algorithms for each and every game), let alone understand what the character is doing and how it's faring.
I don't think it would be too difficult to determine the player character in most games - it's the object that moves left when the player presses left, etc. Even with jumping and attacking options, it should be fairly easy to determine which object moved directly because of the player input. Of course there are games that would break this and even after finding which object on screen is the character there isn't a lot to do with the information. I wouldn't want to even try to figure out whether the character is doing well or not.

Excellent run on this excellent game. I still remember playing this game for hours on end at least 17 years ago - this movie makes we want to go back and play it again. If only I wasn't at work :(

I don't know what the developers were thinking adding that one room to this game, but the rest of the game makes that room more than bearable - those little people can move. yes vote.

I like 1 minute runs like this - even though it was really tough to figure out what's going on :p Voted yes.

I believe USB keyboards actually all have a maximum limit of ~5 or 6 keys - something with how the usb connection itself. PS/2 allows for more keys to be pressed, but typically the keyboards themselves don't. If you are using a PS/2 keyboard, chances are that, if you choose the right keys, you can press all the buttons you would need to at once - you just have to change the layout - try moving them to different rows/columns/halves of the keyboard and see if you can find one that works. I learned this the hard way trying to play o2jam (think ddr but with the keyboard and 7 different keys). No matter what key configuration I used, it was impossible to get a USB keyboard to work with pressing 7 keys, but even with new PS/2 keyboards, it is possible by changing the key layout.

http://novelconcepts.informe.com/switchback-highscores-dt895.html Levels 16, 17, and 18 can be beaten with the R1 at level 6 - if you have the extra lives to get through 14 and 15, this should net some more money. This strategy also doesn't build the 2nd and 3rd blues until level 20, with a loss in 19 (although I did make it through 19 once with no loss). EDIT: I found a great way of minimizing lives lost by switching the target method. Level 12, for example, can be fixed to only losing 1 life - possibly even 0 lives. Start off with the red set to Hard, and just as the last couple creeps are about to enter the range the first time, switch the method to weak. Before the creeps enter the range a second time, switch it back to hard until they all pass through - now switch it back to weak before they come through the third and final time. The point of doing the switching is that the red tower can do the most damage when it is hitting in the middle of the pack instead of the end - by keeping it set to hard, it will pound away at the last couple creeps only hitting 2 or 3 with each shot, when it could be hitting as many as 10. Now time to find a good place to use these lives. EDIT 2: This got me through 14 with a level 6 red 1 instead of a level 7 without losing any lives. It should be possible to get through level 18 with a level 6 red 1 and a level 1 blue 1, and 16 lives.

That 1 level 1 red can make it through level 4 and even level 5 with only a boss leak - it's not til level six that you need to upgrade it. There's a bit more optimization for the early game too. Check the forums over at vectortd.com for a good strategy guide - looks to me like it could get through the first 19 levels or so with a better start.

O_o You are right. I wonder how I overlooked that. And when did I introduce that error? And did it "work" before? Thank you. And thanks to others who tried to (and did) help :)
No problem - I was almost about ready to call it a bug in PHP too :p. I can tell you why it worked before, assuming you upgraded from PHP4 to PHP5. In php 4, using a reference in a foreach didn't do anything - PHP would still just copy it over, so it would be the same thing as foreach($ar as $k => $v). At least, that's my understanding of it. The php documents for foreach say that references were allowed starting in PHP 5. edit: it still would be better to not use references if you don't need them - much less confusing behavior with no negative aspects.

Hm... I just put together a test script... I think I know what the problem is.
$result = array(
        array(
                'number 1' => array('value' => 1,'count' => 5),
                'number 2' => array('value' => 2,'count' => 3),
                'number 3' => array('value' => 3,'count' => 2),
                'number 4' => array('value' => 4,'count' => 1)
        ),
        array(
                'number 1' => array('value' => 1,'count' => 1),
                'number 2' => array('value' => 2,'count' => 8),
                'number 3' => array('value' => 3,'count' => 4),
                'number 4' => array('value' => 4,'count' => 0)
        ));
foreach($result as $id => &$ratings)
{
        foreach($ratings as $name => &$data)
        {
                $result[$id][$name] = (float)$data['value'];
                print_r($data);
        }
}
The line
$result[$id][$name] = (float)$data['value'];
is the same exact thing as
$data = (float)$data['value'];
which means that $data['count'] doesn't exist - $data is just a number, not an array. edit: I'm guessing at the approximate structure of the $result array - if it's different I could be wrong. edit2: If you moved the $count += ... line up one line, it would probably work fine.

$data is used again though - the next time through the outer loop. I'd try what okaygo said and put an unset($data) after the inner loop. I think it'll work then. EDIT: Also, like Tub said, using references in PHP does not make things any quicker - only use them when you need to.

I don't buy any towers as it is in that round. I make it through with a red level 1 and a blue level 1 that I purchased the turn before.
