I think worrying about this place dying is pretty silly. There's always going to be some interest in TASing, even if we all become a bunch of skeletons. I mean, shoot, look at friggin Earthbound. 20 years later, and people are still talking about it. They're even making a fan version of Mother 4.

*10 years later* 'sup, started working on this game. Thanks to the handy powers of nicovideo, I have a reference video to compare against. Link to video Link to video Here's my current WIP. It's about 17 seconds faster after the third boss, so far. http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/21146351570181806 One handy thing to note is pressing Left + Right will make you go right a lot faster. Very handy, as most stages go right anyway.

Yeah, it is optimized. The balloon mechanic just propels you too fast to slow down properly, even if it's only done for a frame.

Fantastic run, really. Reminds me of [1297] SNES EarthBound by pirohiko in 1:10:00.95 in all the right ways. The commentary was also a nice touch, love when that stuff is done.
