Im going to trow in a yes vote, i somewhat agree with mmbossman tough, the action is kinda slowpaced, well, the samurai is quite slow (and look a bit ridiculous while....joging?). Now the thing is i played this game (nostalgia!), and you surely did a good at making it look easy while its not.

I had a hard time with optimizing stage1, my first try was looking better overall i think but well, i could save some frames by doing some ackward stuffs (mainly manipulate luck) Here stage 2 & 3 Edit: Stage 4 & 5

paul_t pointed me to that little treasure, the game is for sure not very popular, but id like to see what you guys think of it, personnally i believe it should be well suited for a tas. I didnt founded any wiki page for the game, nor gamefaqs, or speedruns, whatever, im pretty doing this blindly, but maybe some people around know the game eventually ? Ive decided to go on hard mode in order to follow rules, tought im not very familiar with the game so i dont know yet if its going to be a trouble in latter stages (ennemys seem to be very buffed in hard mode) Here my wip of stage1 Here some footage of the game

Voting yes, this was fast paced, fun, cute and colorfull (the latter been somewhat rare on genesis), only drawback was musics i think, the rest was realy cute, animation is great, i like also how the 2 characters are used, and the silly stuffs they do, like the flying bycycle. Also it was short, 30 min run maybe would have bore me, but its "only" 7min so it kept me in the action for whole run. Ah, i didnt like the ending tought lol.

I agree with the above post, even if i will look like a jerk, my point been for new systems tasers, i won by 80% and there was only 2 votes for others entry, its hard to give anything for them Under certain circonstances, silver/bronze trophy might be good tought.

(I believe it's been brought up on IRC that an exception would be made for this run since there's no official line on the issue at the moment).
Yes, and it make sences, accept this one and thereafter set rules lock on 1001 (unless the game need to use a newer bios to operate)

Does this game play on a real system that uses this BIOS? Is the BIOS official? If the answer is yes to both, I see no reason why we shouldn't allow this run to be published based on the BIOS used.
Because using the 1001 (default one used by ALL our movies) result in different timing, this would be the only reason, else you have to specify in rules you can take ANY bios and its going to be the fuck fest to know what bios is faster than the others, just to whore on few frames Edit: most obviously the answer is yes and yes, if it wasnt, we would not even have this talk anyway

I already tryed to tell the staff that the frog mario wasnt very good, a bit too small and probably not the best to illustrate "funny". For the glitchy mario trophy, i thinked again and i believe the best would be to make him shoot his head (instead "just holding it"). Essentially if im given directions i can try things, and like adelikat sayd its easly updated, but theres need to find something original for glitchy if the current one (or kick-uprgraded) is replacing funny.

No you dont get what im saying. Theres a slight different between chess, and chess with some animations around, letting aside the calculator matter, if you just move/use basic weapons, it look like chess, but if you display summon magic and such, it will barely start to look like a final fantasy movie, wich can be somewhat entertaining if you are rpg lover. The game is not a chess game, its a good game, but if the only display is a camera moving around very fast and no magic ect shown then it look like chess. In others words going sloppier in order to let the audiance see some skills/spells and stuffs. That what i was asking basicly, are you going to sacrify speed over entertainment

If you are recording a movie, you should not use run cd or run bios, after you start movie (replay or record new one) it will boot up, if you just want to play without recording movie try the official build instead i guess. Now about this game, what was you going for ? are you going to disable all the display ? by that i mean, this is a game where you can disable most everything that appear on screen, like spell names/animations, movements on map ect... ect... (theres even a setting for text speed) From a pure speedrun point of view, disabling everything is the fastest, obviously, but the problem is then movie = 0 entertainment and probably unwatchable, its like playing chess. (not even talking about the calculator stuff here... not the point)

Having a calculation will mostly need to have more sublevels of luck manipulation, because you wont like result of 10000 to be on the same step than 100. I think adelikat gived a simple and accurate definition.

It was sold in Taiwan from at least 1994ish.
Sayd you... Also yeah the snes copier was sold in Taiwan, that doesnt mean it was allowed or fair use of copyrights. You can also buy junk stuff for cheap, like, fake chanel, celio or lacoste products, that doesnt make them more leggit, they are still fake. Let me rephrase since you want to be assy. It is obvious why it was never sold on countryes where that realy matter and where copyrights are not just some paper to clean your ass with.

Voted no, the hack is ridiculous, even if its not a hack, anyway the reason is obvious why this was never sold. No entertainment to me, just ripp off, bad musics, bad graphics, slow paced ect...

Presumably, next year(s) would be : gamecube, dreamcast, ps2, wii ect... This might not work every years, tought. At some point there will be years with no rookie plateforms, 2009 will probably stay one of the most intensive on the matter. Hopefully most of the current new systems, psx ds pce mainly, should get theyr own awards, this is depending if the system have enought publications, if theres less than 5 movies for exemple, its likely to be lumped with something else, if theres more, it will have its own category. Sry btw about that mistake Atma (was me), thx Grunt for fixing it.

Ill trow another yes in the pile, i did abstain for long to vote this, mainly my problem was to vote this yes and no to crash1, in crash1 everything is slow paced (not saying its not optimized, just what the result look like), here in crash2 the ice things did compensate this slowness, and made it more enjoyable to watch overall for me. I think the emulation problems are low, despite been troublesome for encoding, they dont seem to realy affect the gameplay itself. (except for last boss apparently lol, that was quite unlucky hahaha)

Theres just one thing i dont see here, how are you going to deal with the 600+ movies already on site ? Do them one after another manually ? That seem huge task there... For the version number, i guess the movie number itself could be also a reference, i think its rare movies get a number attributed that is not a superior number than precedent movies. For submissions its never the case at least.
