Thats why theres voting, its not all a matter of "deserving" it, the public also have to vote for you, if awards was just for people that "deserve" it, then no need to make votes. But I dont think this compare of 3D tas vs 2D ones is right, just look up for CT tas and tell me the memory corruption and all tricks involve arent as tedious as for a 3D game. Now one another problem, usually old emulator (nes for exemple) are more robust, so one reason its hard to tas majora mask is the emulator is garbage, this again shouldnt matter to the audiance, or its not something major they would focus on. Edit: btw, is this first occurence of adelikat not been in the list ? :p

Sprites (pixels), pictures dont fit well into a 30x30 sprites (pixels). The thing Warepire posted is what we want (i think?), should have no problem to find a linux one or something like that, just to avoid worry about licenses. More worried about what we really want, like I was asking, just a keyboard? a mouse? a screen? everything together?

Right, to answer to your pm the thing is the other models wouldnt fit correctly together, it would be easier if the award was simply just call game boy then it would less crowed. Remember its pixels and I simply didnt had many icon samples. If you have some post or pm them. Edit: Its just some png so if you find better we can just replace them easly (i think...)

Im not sure if they will get mad lol, but yeah I was thinking to something similar, Ill try to look into icons before the 23th. Edit: Ilari, when I was asking about if I did the 2011 beforehand, it meant if I did then adelikat should have them, had to reinstall few times this year so ill have to crawl in the darkness of some archives to find em.

Guess its going to be that time of the year where I need to find awards icons and replace 2010 with 2011? Or did I was enought smart to make 2011 in advance? Do we have something already for "first edition" thing? I assume the new categories are arcade and computer, maybe a cabinet for arcade and a keyboard/screen for computer ?

Many thanks to everybody for voting SOTN, it was tight with ff8 but winning 3 times in a row is pretty damn awesome, guess now this is becoming classic like sonic for sega ^^ Now I feel compel to try a 4th iteration :p

By looking at steam store page of sonic generation i see they recommand gtx460 or 5850(1gb), so that sound relativly normal it would run slow on 5670, you exceed the minimun req but that mean your suppose to run it with minimun settings like Atma pointed out.

Because if you use a fullscreen but not with max resolution then everything will look goofy, try 640x480 fullscreen on a 16:9 screen thats suppose to run 1920x1080, it has nothing to do with physics, it will just look bad, stretched, and ugly. [EDIT BY DARKKOBOLD]totally inappropriate comment removed.[EDIT]

You cant emulate cd scratch, those can alter the speed of loading, as well as reader errors correction or motor spinup time, basicly it mean its impossible to sync-bot anything that use a optical drive. You can only make a theoric speed emulation, and youll never reproduce it 100% accuratly on the real hardware.

The site is not ready yet for having "too much" branches, I dont want this to take a space into the branches that could be used by something else (in the eventually it would be accepted, wich I doubt anyway), like low map. I know that if there are too much branches then its a matter to remove some runs to put some others, I dont support this and if someday the site finally allow for more goals (see saturn's case) then ill uncancel. Im already happy of the current branching and I know we wont have the liberty to add many more of them, this isnt a big issue to me overall, this is a minor branching and theres so many way to glitch the engine about killing its even hard to define what is a kill or not, and so you could have infinite subset of rules/goals, I dont have the pretention to say wich should fit the site or not. Now well if it must be uncanceled because people want it then be it, allthought im quite not certain if the route is really efficient, speed wise, and theres an encode now so im not sure it makes a big difference either way. Edit: in case you doubt of this, the 2 first comments are about the legitimity of the run goals, basicly people care more about # of branches than runs themselves, its annoying to say the least, I know its not general and not all audiance would say that, but still its there, and im not whilling to feed this kind of debate wether or not its a fine goal. (it is a fine goal for this game but anyway, guess its better on contra?!? lol)

Hmm, thanks. I was optimistic because my friend PJ accidentally did a zip glitch in 4-4 once while working on his high-score record for the game...but maybe the bats spawn more often on 2nd loop.
Im pretty impressed this can happen unassisted, I guess it wasnt exactly at the same place than in the tas ? Did he ended dieing in the walls ? :p

Your best guess going to be whip boost on rings, allthought I have no idea if its humanly doable at all since it relay on very stric pixel positioning, it seem unlikely but oh well, maybe if you are very precise and quick youll manage, again watch frames by frames to understand the input with such tricks. BTW, unassisted you can at least do double hit, its simple, just press whip+subweapon at same time, this will obviously boost greatly damage output for boss. AFAIK theres others place where you can collapse in walls, none that was founded helped at all, as for vertical boost I personnally never saw that.

Sound cool to try the new tricks unassisted but I fear im going to brake the motivation lol. Basicly this is totally impossible real time, for 2 reasons. First theres only like 1 or 2 frames windows of oppertunity for the damage, so youll do it 1 out of 1000 tryes or something around that, and im not even speaking of the timing to get the block to be at the exact good place and manipulate bat to be "sync" with all this. Secondly, theres a bug with cliping, basicly we had to manipulate simon movement to avoid him dieing, try to change _any_ input your likely to die, delay for 1 frame the "last" turn over > you die. If you manage to avoid dieing then youll have the problem that you need to gain height as well, this required heavy manipulation on the movement (camera) to work. Oh and of course, the "exit" is as well crazy sensible, we ended often dieing in the spikes :p If your still interrested I highly recommand to watch frames by frames the segments that you feel could be reproducable, this usually will tell ya directly the error margin (eventually using delays to test out)

Not much working on the actual run but we did the route planning and some tests, notacibly; -the snake hitbox have a bug, im able to register up to 4 hits (60 dmg!) with a single swing of the knife, but it isnt easy to keep the glitch working for the whole fight (basicly will have to lower HP with hunters so the snake keep raising his head). -the tyrant can only be beaten with the handgun, the knife would take forever in comparaison, with the gun i managed to kill him before he fully turn around (slower than jill but still, its pretty quick) -for plant boss... well its going to be more a inventory problem rather than a pure speed choice, the best is to have the gun AND the knife, the first phase tentacles are protecting the core so theres no chance you would nail them down only with gun, on second phase thought the gun goes twice faster than the knife (logic since only 1 tentacle have the time to spawn) Im heavly lazy those days and im playing Dead Island like a bitch, most everything is set for the run we just need now to execute it, given the experience we already have with Jill run, im confident to say its going to be quick to execute, i might get more motivated for it next week.

I would like to add my 2 cents for the original mode choice, the reason is mainly speed, the arrange mode brakes a crest in 2 smaller parts (that need to be combined afterward), this consequently roll many items placement. Worse, in arrange mode... the only sequence break we use would be totally moot, since behind the tentacles theres no longer the armor key ... :/ Thats the reasons we sticked to orignal, faster completion, and possibility to do the sequence break. Now i dunno if ppl would like to see a 100% run, but we are doing the chris run, and it should be faster (same thing happen for original vs arrange for him as well) Also, plz note that the game is syncable to a crazy extent, this mean i could sync the movie with Dual Shock version, without much many troubles, and 99.9% identical input. We decided not to use it because there is the screen "This game contain violence and gore", 5 seconds lost. Im pretty sure hexing the movie could work in all directions.

Its a totally different new game, its not just a new "branch". Pretty much like Castlevania: Chronicles As for Carcinogen post...its linked in the submision already. Personally i also prefer psx, for fullscreen basicly.

So theres kinda a problem with the plant boss, im not able to find his HP address for some reason (it might be a ram search bug...) while i had no troubles for others. Oddly enought, i was lucky and it seem the snake HP matched the second part of the plant, so i could watch that at least, the knife does equal damage than the gun (15 per hit), but for some unknow reason the first part doesnt work this way. I had the feeling tentacles might act as shields over the core, it might also be all about how you are positioned with the plant. Basicly for no reason on first phase the knife is quicker/does more damage.

Is it possible to make a doorless encode?
I dont think this will be allowed for a publication, also please note that there is almost 50 less doors than in RE3 For those wandering about chris, it should be ~~ 52-54 min range, dont take this estimation for granted tho but yeah hes definitly faster (less cutscenes), he also benefit from the tentacles skip. Given theres "only" 3 boss to fight and that we wont kill any zombies, the whole "item management" thing doesnt apply much, there sould be only 2 extra chest access i think. If you look at jill inventory youll see she still have keys from mansion at the end, so yeah theres nothing seriously problematic from that aside to drop useless items.
