As a sand box game, won't be vaultable, so would need Moon feedback to get accepted. No idea how entertaining creation of the game will end up, but an RPG TAS usually needs to be done to a popular (and thus, known) game to be liked. So it'd require coding some things that'd be generally enjoyable when tased, or people just won't like anything but the concept itself. Maybe some innovative gameplay ideas? How far from RPG genre could the result go?

ACE or "game end glitch", in general, does not obsolete other branches of games and is published alongside them as separate categories.
X-Ray Super Metroid was obsoleted by GEG Super Metroid without arbitrary code, which was then obsoleted by GEG with arbitrary code. I don't know where you have that notion on ACE and game end glitch. The point of them is that they use Major skip glitch to skip dramatical part of the game, while other branches don't. There also was a case where we had 2 such runs coexisted (X-Ray and GT code GEG), but they both were obsoleted by GEG then, due to content overlap. So the same is with all other Major skip glitches (warp, sram, box, stairs, sketch, whatever). They don't obsolete each other only if the runs present significantly different content. Though if we ever see ACE playaround submitted, it would obviously be accepted as a new branch.

We accept all kinds of glitched endings, and very rarely reject unusual endings. What about softlocks at some point during the ending scene? The one submission that was rejected for having an invalid ending that I recall is that Pokémon Yellow submission that froze the game and failed to save the game as usually happens when entering the Hall of Fame, which was considered an essential part of the ending for Pokémon Yellow. I do not think a softlock 80-90% into the ending like in this submission's original movie file or the "sketch glitch" movie constitutes an invalid game completition. The ending sequence is very clearly triggered and runs most for the majority of its duration. Further, I would argue that the glitched ending of the "sketch glitch" movie is slightly MORE valid than a similarly softlocked ending in the original movie file of this submission, since that run fights and beats the final boss after completing the final dungeon, rather than directly triggering the ending scene.
Pokemon was rejected not because it didn't save the game, but because the ending state of the game wasn't reached, none of the usual routines were executed as a result. p4wn3r explained why Pokemon wasn't even trying to end the game. Dragon View was accepted because it did get so the ending state, but it got some variables messed up and didn't show the full credits (there was a physical obstacle for the character in the in-game cutscene). SMW is accepted because there's nothing the game does or allows you to do after ending (I don't remember if RAM was checked). Some other games just behave as usual, so cause no problems.

Of all the game series with major glitches, I'm surprised Final Fantasy would actually get a branch arguement/debate. Also makes me wonder the reception if someone ever makes a run that uses this same glitch, but instead of the ending, triggers the final encounter. lol
We call that a warp glitch, it's also Major skip category.

We opened the publishing page before the new movie was published, and both got 2920 as autogenerated screenshot name. I changed mine to be 2921, so now we need sheela to reupload the proper one for 2920 again. sheela901: you'll have to use a different name for the proper screenshot now, since 2920M.png is already in the database. Someting like 2920M-fixed.

After this request, and break of automatic youtuber updating, here's what's now required to do when you replace youtube links: - Add a new link to the publication module. - Go to http://tasvideos.org/SystemTVCControl.html, Ctrl+F, paste the Video ID of your youtuber. - Edit its entry, put the publication number as Movie ID, Save. - Find it once again and click Update. The above are now also the usual steps for publishing a movie. - Find the Video ID of the youtuber you've replaced. - Edit it, set Visiblity: Unlisted, Save. - Edit again and set Movie ID: -1, Save. If the video you're replacing is erroneous, it could be marked for deletion in the Special title. But if it's an official youtube encode that's being replaced by the author's encode on his own channel, you don't have to set Movie ID to -1, only unlist. If you set Movie ID to -1 before unlisting, you won't be able to update the actual video on youtube.

So it's now about the degree, right? Options like "no glitch at all" and "everything with the glitch" were obviously refused. "Do half of the answers with it and half without it" doesn't sound too smart either, because it's arbitrary. micro500 suggests (and I used to suggest) "only 1 answer with the glitch". So how much should we use it then? I still think (after seeing zaphod77's ideas) that we should limit it, but we must use it for anything that is actually better with the glitch. Like really complicated drawings or mere funny answers like crossing stuff out, or drawing "Pffffff I give up", or things like that, and getting accepted. Drawing 42 to answer the least likely question is also a great idea.

I agree that the original TAS was interesting because it hid the answers inside the visible drawings. Using invisible stuff that counts and visible stuff that does not is, well, cheating. Here are good examples of what you can do with the new glitches that would be entertaining. Write one wrong answer, cross it out, write another wrong answer, cross It out, write a right answer normally. Somethinng like (OOB) hmm i wonder... oh, it's.. (normal) the answer. write a wrong answer very CLEARLY and visibly, and the right one invisibly. this gives you the obviously impossible result of the game accepting an answer that's obviously wrong as correct. Any number of other things. Combining visible ignored and invisible not ignored together when the visible ignored is a picture is definitely out of line.
I REALLY REALLY love these suggestions. We should use the invisible glitch, but we should do it in the most impressive way then. All will be happy. If it helps us draw an image so complicated that it wouldn't be possible to draw it without the glitch, it's perfectly fine. But not for everything. We need to be very smart in this.

There's a dev snapshot of tasvideos, it can be tested out there if one is able to code it.

Haven't read the thread, but I think we should not blindly abuse invisible drawings to maximum for gdqs, but we need to put it somewhere as a yet another bug in the game, answering just a single question with emptiness. Actual drawings also should be at least tried to include a real answer in some way. And yes, for TASing this game, it's become too much of a sand box now, so it completely removes all the challenge that was there formerly.

Yeah, it was absolutely unexpected, but my youtube video stream length is only 23:21 long. Thankfully I have the dumps, will reencode after publishing Bishi Bashi.

That's weird understanding of "implying". I post in the thread 2015-08-01 that I'll handle it, a week later you just claim it. So who's snipping?

Since BIOS screen in Bizhawk is dumped as a separate video segment, we actually can drop it. Should we? I think it carries no useful info, and as it's already skipped in some emulators internally (PSXHawk isn't going to do so though), it has some precedent.

It does need some irrelevant crap like an hieroglyph or similarly absurd drawing(s?) between weird but still correct answers and calculus.

I love the SRAM idea. Yes, it must be done via valid replay somehow. But unfortunately, even if we console verify the setup movie, we wouldn't have time to show it entirely. I guess we need to post it beforehand somewhere and then just refer to it. SRAM opens another possibility: prepare RAM or SRAM itself so that you could just do a simple jump using controller data, and the destination would be that preset array of bytes that could be executed as code. The most efficient way would be to prepare something like a really short but endless loop to read from one controller and send to another. Shouldn't take too much space, and would be pretty self-managing. We can even reduce payload to not be present on the first step at all. Feeding stripped data is the easiest with this bandwidth.

Bizhawk's current core for Genesis doesn't have any notion of what mnemonics it executes -> no debugger or tracer.
