It was recorded with New PPU. And it was proved that the old one is more accurate. Post #228842

After seeing complaints about not being optimized enough I decided to give this run a go and it can be improved. I am about 35% of the way through fisker N.'s run (about 6 minutes 54 seconds) and I am ahead by 17.7 seconds. If improvements are found with the same frequency throughout the movie could be about 50 seconds faster but around 35 is a much more conservative estimate. I am going to continue and will probably be finished within the week. If fisker N. would like to try again and resubmit I will hold my submission but otherwise I intend to finish and submit my improved movie.
Go ahead. He started improving, but has no time for now.

natt could you please replace your image with just a link? Some people have more narrow monitors (like me).

Haven't seen anything palette related in sneslua. While it's not mentioned in genslua docs either, but is implemented since 11b. The snes9x lua thread didn't answer the question about that possibility.

I think they just hack some palette color. Don't know if this can affect syncing (probablt badly), but one doesn't need syncing non-hacked palette movies on hacked mode. http://www.vgmaps.com/forums/index.php?topic=821.0 EDIT: Oh, vSNES it is called.

How about adding the canvas layer coloring option? It's the layer that's normally black and comes behind all other layers. Changing its color is necessary for ripping sprites and maps. For now comunities are using hacked savestates of bsnes IIRC.

I mean that Camstudio gives the highest compression than what I've had tried besides, when using at GZip, Level 9. But so it works way slower than LAGS. And CamStudio encodes are easy to seek through (not if LZO method is used).

Was screwing up blue color fixed in FFV1? I wonder why this codec is still mentioned in our guide at all, after having such non-intuitive issues and being TOTALLY obsoleted by LAGS and CStudio.

Funny thing that some codecs may provide output of different size that become the same after regular x264 encoding. Happened for me with CamStudio and MLC.

The best compressing+capable lossless codec is CamStudio. Second place if after Lagarith.

When I try to post a script where something appears to be between <> it gets screwed up. http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=pBSG3TCj Result:
keys.xmouse <x>= ( y-10 )
Can this be somehow cancelled when a code is posted?

Nothing is perfect, and competing WIPs always results in a better run, so, just don't stop working and sharing! Maybe both of you could come up with timesavers, maybe both would provide input for the future run, maybe one would stay more as an adviser. The thing that there are veteran TASers means only that they have an idea of what can appear possible and enough patience to test everything many times. If you have more patience and more ideas, nothing prevents you from becoming an expert TASer too. The main tip from me is redoing your own run level by level several times over, to make sure no timesaver is lost. Sometimes you even can find shortcuts in unexpected circumstances! Good luck!

Just watched it. Guys, the run was insane. Are you sure you're not robots? I couldn't do what you did in a million years. It showcases incredible technical prowess. I didn't know it would be THAT different of a run, but wow. And I had a few laughs throughout!
It's funny, but I felt exactly the same when watching YOUR 2p warpless for the first time (having no idea of what TAS is). I couln't resurrect so much WTFness after watching any other TAS since then. This thing has blown up my mind compleely. And it's pleasant to read the same emotions from the author of that work XD

Do you need a map on any certain level? I can make it in the first place, as now I got my script set up and ripping randomly. EDIT: The maps are ready. Want some? Also how about fighting Phalanx-Magneto? It's kinda easter egg and would be nice to see in a TAS. EDIT 2: Just tested. You can unlock Magneto after finishing all but TWO clones, not all but one.

The run is improvable at in the fridge level, where player could use fans acceleration with better precision. Plus, some bosses luck manipulation is far from perfect (low rerecords counter speaks for itself). Since I like the game (and think it deserves 2 categories) I'm voting Meh instead of No. Fisker N, if you put more effort, you should be able to beat current time at least by several seconds.
Он ничего не поймет без перевода :) Но вроде ты уже указал на недочеты в русском треде. Я говорил уже, что надо по несколько раз перепроходить каждый уровень, но парень слишком спешит, некогда нормально тасить. Даже не прочтение всех твоих статей нет времени :D Translation: "He doesn't understand English, but the same was already said in Russian thread. Each level must be reTASed several times. But Fisker N has no time to TAS seriously, he must be too busy with something more interesting :D"

but I think the expected user viewing result with a lot of these flicker patterns was in fact flicker.
To me, at 60fps, "on one, off one" looks like transparency and "on two, off two" looks like flickering. Changing both to "on one, off one" at 30fps is the wrong thing to aim for IMO. If you download the roadrunner clip it has the three side by side (on/off, 60fps, blended). I think the blended looks more like the 60fps, would you disagree?
Yes. If {1 frame off, 1 frame on} at 60 fps looks like transparency to you, your monitor sucks. Get a monitor with a lower response time. The one on the left looks far better to me. The one on the right just looks wrong, as there's no flicker, unlike the original.
I turned my monitor's framerate from 75 to 60 just to see retro games as they must look.

One sees blinking either if it's not 30Hz blinking, or not ~60 Hz monitor (consider that the original TVs weren't exactly 60/50fps, as well as the consoles). The same goes to 25-50Hz.

Each time I see an SM submission I go "WHAT?!" Pity I can't encode anymore due to sound desyncs.

This almost made my cry the tears of happiness! Finally we can get really close to cheating this ugly yutube and displaying on it ALL motion and "transparency" we see on emulators, yay!
