I'm supporting Aglar's decisions knowing they are always reasonable, and this thread confirms that again. Ah, let's define the exact category and measure of glitch somewhere, then let's prove this isn't arbitrary (like the in-game timer is free from subjectiveness and can be a good criteria) and anyone would agree with this measure of glitch allowed in Sonic, and ONLY THEN you'll be welcome with words against the current decision. But from what I've read in the submission text, no one could suggest the measure acceptable for everybody. If you have nothing concrete to suggest (any deviation from the chosen category would water down the point of glitch allowed/disallowed), and can't do this run yourself - don't grumble towards the very optimised run.

If Soig didn't change any of the previous movie's entertainment decisions (the former submission was awful in that), anyone wouldn't be able to notice the difference. Isn't that ambiguity? Is the framecount itself enough? See how one may improve the style (scorecount) even lowering the counter just for a SINGLE frame.

I didn't see any problem with stages 2 & 4 and the exploding walls. Here's what I found kind of questionable: was it necessary to fire at (and hit) some of the stationary gunners early in stage 5? If these shots actually saved time, so be it, but if it was just stylistic, it doesn't really seem within the spirit of the run to blast enemies a few times just because they won't die from it. It seems more like torture than pacifism. Same applies to the second snowmobile in the same stage. I really liked the work overall, though. Nice improvement.
These soldiers have a metal shield, shooting it does nothing against themselves ^_^ And shooting the tank is okay as long as it doesn't explode. You know, if you shoot several bullets to a real tank, people inside it won't die.

As always, STRANGE (for a regular viewer/taser) ideas hardly attract much attention. Well, until you present the result. So, while I like the idea of improving the true pacifism of Contra run, I can't be sure anyone would pick it. And I remember some other rule of life: if no one wants to do what you wish, do it yourself. It's not telling AnS to tas Contra, it's more like saying that I didn't like the entertainment decisions in this submission at all - and if I had time I'd apply both your and my wishes to pacifist Contra. But as for now, we may accept this submission as it's obviously better optimized then the previous one. We still can keep all timesavers, but use kinda trade-off to make this boring goal WAY more interesting! For example, one may switch weapons as much as possible and shoot as much as the lag counter allows (after clever management we probably won't need to trade something off). I'm even thinking of a 2 player pacifist (don't remember if it was discussed already) to bring more action. So, pacifist Contra is yet far from it's limits and sumerhumanity.

I wonder why this and the previous Wii Megaman have so low rerecord count.

I don't know if I'm allowed to add input after movie end. At what exact frame do I need to press Start+Select? BTW, you can upload the fixed movie to microstorage.

I'm picking this project. And here's a script displaying the proper data: Download tmnt3.lua
Language: lua

function info() for i = 0, 7 do x = memory.readbyte(0x47b+i) y = memory.readbyte(0x499+i) - memory.readbyte(0x4b7+i) hp = memory.readbyte(0x622+i) timer = memory.readbyte(0x68a+i) id = memory.readbyte(0x52a+i) if x< 6 then x= 6 elseif x>250 then x=250 end if id>0 then gui.text(x-6, y-18, string.format("S%d",i+1)) gui.text(x-6, y- 9, string.format(hp)) gui.text(x-6, y, string.format(timer)) end end end emu.registerafter(info)

I recorded a movie then switched off some layers, then recorded avi, then used autostitcher. The main trick to record a movie was using a code to fly through all the map by pressing A B С. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGR5PbvFY10&list=PL56690DF60ECAD041

How can I iterate values from several arrays in one command, like that:
gui.text( array1, array2, array3 )
to take x and y from separate tables as well as the text?

I ripped the spriteless maps here: http://www.vgmaps.com/Atlas/Genesis/index.htm#Gargoyles If you need very much, I can rip all enemies and items, but it'll take time. SaxxonPike?

I don't understand what do you mean exactly (clarify more circumstances please). Also, the only thing comes to my mind when talking about forcing the game over is that: Link to video Do you mean killing Zitz right after the Rat Race? That may be tasted.

I encoded it with official 2.1.5 release. So, it syncs there. Also, I always thought that Battletoads shall be clarified with player number and warps usage.
