I must say, this is quite an amazing run. The way you shelled those clips and blocked those duplications was pretty impressive. However, I notice you are not using the recommended ZSNES 1.51; perhaps you should redo this run on that emulator and resubmit.
I am glad you finally have realized the errors of your ways. Quality or entertainment doesn't matter. All that matters is strict adherence to the rules. TASVideos has been about having fun with a hobby for a bit too long. It is time to get serious here.

You should be glad I didn't do this in Bizhawk. It only appears to go up to 1000%. You would have had to watch it for 3.4 minutes. And people claim it is a superior emulator. Don't make me laugh.

A new Super Mario Bros. 2 TAS? I am suspicious but will give it the benefit of the doubt. Will vote after watching. EDIT Looking good so far. Frame 580,000. Will it go to infinite? I guess we will have to see. EDIT 2 I don't know if this run ever ends but I can promise you that this is the song that never ends. Frame 752,000. If my estimates are correct we should see the score hit its max within 12 hours so that will be something to look forward to to start work tomorrow. EDIT 3 1,320,000 Frames now. Still progressing towards infinite but I am not sure that it will actually make it. I looked it up in Wolfram Alpha and it says I am still only at 0% done so there is still a lot of room for error. It appears that despite being over a million frames I still have infinite to go so my math may be wrong.

If you're asking if this can be synced on Bizhawk/lsnes, it's a straight up no. The game doesn't even run on either emulator. snes9x master race
Has anyone even checked this? I just tried to play this game and it most definitely works on Bizhawk. I don't know much about Bizhawk but it says it can't open the movie file because "Movies that begin with a savestate are not supported" so I can't figure out if the movie syncs at all but I can assure you it runs in that emulator. If someone who has used Bizhawk before knows how to convert movies and want to give it a shot I would encourage them to test if it syncs. I just played through the first level with absolutely no issues and the game ran absolutely fine. I am not sure where that claim comes from as Bizhawk should have no problem running any SNES game. Edit Seriously. Were you all just going to trust that an emulator that is considered essentially frame perfect couldn't run this game? Just beat the third level running perfectly. As a side note I had never played this game before and it is quite fun.

The fact you'd rather an older, slower run performed on the same emulator remain on the site while the faster one gets rejected is fucking ridiculous. Then the site would be stuck with an "inaccurate" but unoptimized run (as opposed to just an inaccurate one) until somebody does it on Bizhawk/lsnes - what if it takes years or never even happens? This is a huge flaw in logic. Yes vote. I'm unfamiliar with the game but I found it entertaining :)
Actually I am all for this run being accepted, but not if others who do runs on obsolete emulators (and only miss the cutoff date by a few days I might add as opposed to a few months like this run) have their runs rejected for no other reason that it is judged on a case by case basis. If someone is going to be rejected on a technicality then this one should to. Not that it matters it will get accepted

If this run is accepted then McBox's run should be rejudged and accepted to at very least the vault

Did you read the first sentence?
Yup. And as an active member of the site kaizoman666 was well aware of the rule change and even was one of the people who used two of the continuances offered by Nach. He should have put it in there if he wanted to submit it. Not to mention his proof doesn't have the movie done, there is still a level left. For all we know he finished the movie a week ago and that is why he posted it today and as I said if he wasn't going to finish it until after the date he should have put in for a continuance. No reason to reject movies like I posted above and allow this one for doing the same thing.

I like this idea but not how you suggested it. The way I would do it would be to have a required category submission process for new categories or amendments that would require judge approval before an actual run submission. The debate could be done in the category submission.
I just want to point out that TASeditor has been working on and posting WIPs for this TAS for over a year at this point and multiple judges and site editors have commented in the thread so if this rule was implemented he most likely would have made the same run that he is submitting currently. Yes vote by the way.

I was wondering if any progress was happening on the Tastudio front or was planned in the near future? After learning how to TAS on TASEdit and then TAS Editor I cannot even attempt to grasp how to TAS using conventional methods but still have interest in exploring other consoles. I completely understand if no one is working on it as the vast majority of TASes are made via conventional methods, and adding and improving other console emulation would probably have precedence but I just wanted to see if there was any work with the idea.

There has still been no firm date set for the disallowance of SNES9X, although switching to Bizhawk would be a good idea regardless, as its' emulation is more accurate.
We just had a movie rejected last week for using Snes9x as they claim it is a depreciated emulator and the discussion in the thread implied that this would be the norm despite the fact that there has yet to be an official statement on the matter.

I'd say that the current goals (reach high score, then end wave) qualify it for Vault since it can be argued that there is no new content; however, a Stage 35 TAS (complete fastest possible wave, since there are no new speeds) or Stage 39 TAS (complete last wave before the wave set repeats) has the potential to obsolete it then.
I would prefer one of those two. Both would be vault tier but I would think that it would be more impressive and potentially give more room for improvement if someone else works out a better strategy.

If you have to watch in parts to not be bored than the answer to did you find this movie entertaining would be no or meh. Which is why I voted Meh but would always vote yes for an any%. The juggling and entertainment were good but after 20 or 30 minutes it all just begins to look like noise.

I'm not aware of any exceptions to the rule being made other than those stated publicly in the continuances forum. A continuance was not made for this movie. Note: I'm not agreeing/disagreeing with any policy in this post. Simply pointing out that I think you are wrong in your assessment that "popular" movies have been unfairly handled in regards to the rule.
I wasn't sure of there any and haven't looked through the runs yet, I just assumed that as feos put
There were some exceptions though, but only for the runs that were extremely well received.
that he knew of runs where it happened. Though now that I look I can't find any run that was accepted despite the rule. My stance still stands until the depreciation thread is given an official date.

I disagree with this decision, even though I wasn't necessarily entertained by the run. In the post you reference Nach even says that he would like to make the rule but knows that there would be backlash and states that while it will be officially obsoleted eventually no hard date has been set yet, and it is only listed as Depreciated/Not Recommended which to me is vague enough to allow runs from the emulator. I especially disagree that exceptions were made for movies that more people enjoyed. If that is the case then it just sets up power users who can break the rules and still get runs accepted because they are popular. If you would like to reject for being sub-optimal as you implied two comments up and then make a note warning people to stop using snes9x that would be fine but until a new post is made in which it is officially cut off except for a specific list of exceptions that is publicly advertised I disagree with this choice.

Wit's is a Japanese NES game that was essentially a rip-off of the game featured in the movie Tron. For those of you who don't haven't seen the movie the concept is simple. You and a computer player move around the screen leaving a wall behind you. Your goal is to get the opponent to collide with the wall as soon as possible. The game mechanics are as follows: You control direction with the d-pad and can only run on the grid giving a few frame window of when to turn. You can move at a faster pace by holding A. You can jump over walls by pressing B. Turning slows you down for a few frames so a crucial point is to minimize turns. In this game there are 5 enemies and a boss battle of which you have to beat 5 times each. I have completed 2 of the enemies at present and assuming no issues aim to finish the rest of the run soon. Here is my run up until this point. The game is pretty cut and dry for the most part simply turning across the enemies path to have him collide with the wall. A few of the levels the enemy jumps or will take a strange curved path so you must choose your movements carefully to manipulate him to collide with your wall. I believe it is optimal but dislike submitting movies without some sort of peer review to make sure I am not missing the obvious so as always comments and feedback are welcome and encouraged.

Thanks for the support CoolKirby... it's hard to get some it seems... By the way, I don't mind people voting No, but I'm interested in some comment explaining the vote, so I can learn how to improve stuff and what people find interesting.
I voted no to this run and the previous submission. I voted no because the question asked now is "Did you find this movie entertaining?" and for the first one and certainly for this one I was not entertained. 3 and a half minutes of almost identical 10 second pulses of gameplay as he crosses the street does not deserve a moon tier. Not to say that it wasn't well done, I just don't think it is a game that can be made entertaining

Slightly unrelated, I'm still somewhat interested in a low score run of one of these games.
I second the low score. I don't know how these games are programmed but I would be interested to see just how bad you can play and still win. It would be like a low% run.

Voted no. Some of the levels really dragged so I wasn't entertained. A half hour is too long for a game like this. Plus I couldn't tell what movements slowed you down or not. If it never slowed you down to move side to side than I felt more time could have been spent to be doing things during the run to make it more entertaining, or if it did slow you down to move I don't know why you collected some of the items you did.

After 6 months of being too busy to focus on a 4-Player run I present WIP2. I am now at 01:47.83 which is about 11% of the way through the run. I am currently 00:05.38 seconds ahead of the currently published 4-player run which gives me an estimated final savings of 46 seconds, which is much greater than my previous estimate. Hopefully I could break 15 minutes and 30 seconds but who knows how the rest of the run will progress. So far 35 frames have been saved from lag management whereas the rest has been saved through optimization and better route planning. As a side note this puts me 00:14.75 seconds behind my 2-Player run but that is to be expected as it contains almost 1000 extra lag frames from the 2 extra characters. I am hoping that this will be a start of a stretch of TAS'ing for me where I can knock this game out soon but as real life has been taking up a large percent of my time I wouldn't be too hopeful for the super near future. This is going to essentially double my highest re-record count and the lag amount is so damn high that is getting rough to stay with it. As always if you have any feedback feel free to let me know. I hope you enjoy and that I did enough to entertain throughout.
