Due to some things going wrong in the wonderful land of code, Dual Shock Controllers became broken. It has been fixed as of r8511. Please make sure you are using this version or newer. If you are unsure if your build is proper, try Ape Escape. If your input is ignored, then it's not working correctly.

I'm so hyped. I would love to play PSX games with the rewinding feature of Bizhawk! ePSXe only had save states, and you couldn't even rebind any of the emulator keys except for controllers. Does it play PAL games, though? I have several PAL discs I would like to play again such as Mega Man 8, Mega Man Legends and Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer.
Please use this thread: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16162 for PSX things. I personally haven't tested PAL stuff much. Feel free to do it and report.

Well if the only reason to implement this is for MGS 1, then don't do it (unless of course it's just to be a feature and be more complete of an emulator). The sequence break me and my friend found for the game completely skips Psycho Mantis and other bosses so you never have to switch controller. Like maybe if somebody wanted to do a full boss run you would need it but unlikely.
The thing is, BizHawk is for ALL users. Not just TAS/Speedrunners. So we need to at least support two controllers (one in each port).

Bug reports: TAStudio has ! as a button. I think that's either Eject (Open) or Power. Current version tested against: r8551 TAStudio's P1 LStick X, P1 LStickY, ect. text label is too big. Current version tested against: r8551 Using a controller with two analog sticks, and having EmuHawk without focus, will cause EmuHawk to accept Analog input but not Button input. Current version tested against: r8551 Vib Ribbon (PAL) works but the Audio in the How to Play is desynced Vs. the Video. This is a major issue for this game as it relies on proper Audio Video Sync to play well. Current Version tested against: r8572 Features missing: GunCon support. Games that use it: Point Blank, Point Blank 2, Point Blank 3, Time Crisis

Hey, we should probably have a new thread just for this. The "PSX core development/testing thread" It's interesting you listed some things I'm not sure I would have put on the list for the first release. We may have to debate that a bit. I think some of the trickier stuff will probably slow us down more than we'll want, when we could have a release that folks could be using for simpler cases. Of your items, here's what I think: first release can be 1 player dualshock only. But multiple discs must be supported (including movies) and dealing with that savestate annoyance. The memory card sharing could be accomplished right now for casual gaming by managing your files carefully, but I have no clue what this means for movies. Do we need a TAS which has actually multiple games in the queue and boots one game, saves, then boots the next, and loads the same memory?
The Controller Switch/more then one is REQUIRED for MGS 1. The Mid Game boss Psycho Mantis is only beatable when the player switches controller ports during the fight. Or they use a second controller. The "Dual Shock or Not" requirement can be dropped. Most players are used to the two stick controller anyway. The PSX came without them initially. It shouldn't effect things if we have it. The memory card stuff is nice but not required. Again, Psycho Mantis will say special lines if a particular save file is recognized when he is encountered. A TAS would flat out skip this since they want to go fast. But a Casual player may like to have this.

There are some things that I want to be resolved before I will be comfortable saying "This is Good to Go" Issues: The choice of Dual Shock (two stick) or regular game pad (I am unsure if this matters or not, but it may be necessary?) Being able to play with more then one controller at a time (required for MGS 1) Or unplugging the controller from port 1 and putting it into port 2. Being able to create a "shared" Memory Card (For MGS 1) and others? Reading multiple discs (FF VII, Monster Rancher, Vib Ribbon, MGS 1) Handling movies across Multiple discs (FF VII, MGS 1, ect.) Savestates handling multiple discs Things I want done but this is on Mediafen not BizHawk: Make Vib Ribbon work. PAL or JP version I want this tested because it matters: Spyro 3's protection. Is it handled or will the game start complaining? This is NOT a complete list of "Everything that needs to be done" This is my own list of things.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but where can I actually download r8419? I'd like to try the save states feature for PSX movies.
While r8419 has PSX Savestates, is also has a problem with the File Menu Dropdown Event handler. I am working on fixing it.

Please note: PSXHawk is still in Beta until it is released in version 2.0 of BizHawk. All bug reports and issues for PSXHawk (Octoshock), should be on the IRC channel irc.freenode.net #Bizhawk or on the issue tracker: https://code.google.com/p/bizhawk/issues/list And not on these forums. Expression of love/excitement/hype is allowed here. If you use the Issue tracker, please do not forget to you list the SVN version in your report. This helps ensure we are not testing for fixed bugs in newer versions. And we can tell you what SVN build fixes your Bug.

I also have dreams in my head of trying to do NetHack at a future AGDQ or SGDQ event in a graveyard shift, where we spend two hours or so and walk through explaining all of the complex things going on but fast-forward through the boring parts, explaining in enough detail that people unfamiliar with the game can understand what's happening. So far I've received extremely divided opinions on whether this is a good idea, with the general response to the idea being either one of utter elation or utter repulsion and not much middle ground. I'll have to ensure that whatever we pitch meets the needs of as large an audience as possible.

That has been corrected in the SVN. The Trunk is undergoing some major changes so I either wait and some new features that prevent issues are added into version 1.9.2 or I forcefully release 1.9.2 now.

Mame-rr is back in Version 136 Main Version is at 156 Some important games like Raiden DX were recently added to Mame. I don't remember if Virtua Racing was working in 136 or in a newer version. There's been a LOT of fixes to Mame as well in each new version.

A small bug or two had to be corrected. Sorry about this. Your about box should say: Version 1.9.0 (SVN 8231) If it does not, please redownload EmuHawk. Sorry about the changes.
