There are some problems I want to report. 1. (BizHawk 2.7) [4569] DS Tetris Party Deluxe "Sprint" by Mars608 in 00:43.76 starts recording with default sync settings, and according to the author he did not set any NDS firmwares. Play the movie with all NDS firmwares set would cause desync, the movie only sync when NDS firmwares are cleared. [4605] DS The Legend of Kage 2 by ninespaces in 29:25.63 has the same problem. 2. (BizHawk 2.8) Geinuhayst sent a movie that started with sync settings ‘Use Real BIOS’ true and ‘Skip Firmware’ true, and only bios7 and bios9 are set in firmware settings, firmware.bin not set. I tried to play his movie, with bios7, bios9, firmware.bin all set, and it desync. The movie syncs after I deleted firmware.bin. It seems that BizHawk loads the BIOS and firmware.bin anyway, regardless of the movie’s sync settings. 3. (BizHawk 2.8) Under vertical screen layout, adding a screen gap, no matter by NDS setting menu or lua script, would cause the windows size becomes 1x fixed, regardless of the windows size setting. Adding padding at the bottem of window by using lua function client.SetGameExtraPadding would also cause the window size becomes 1x fixed. (Adding padding on the right works fine. ) 4. (BizHawk 2.8) Under horizontal screen layout, adding padding at the bottom of window by using lua function client.SetGameExtraPadding would cause the top screen scales in a strange way and the bottom screen is out of the window: How it looks like before adding padding: According to https://tasvideos.org/Bizhawk/NDS, the recommended firmware setting is to use BIOS and not to use firmware.bin. So, should I set ‘Use Real BIOS’ to true and ‘Skip Firmware’ to true, with only bios7 and bios9 set in firmware settings?

I couldn't figure out where this movie's save RAM anchor comes from.
I don't remember how I exactly get this SRAM, it could be required by playing a Julius any% run and stop the movie at the beginning. Most Julius any% runs share the same SRAM.

Looks good to me. Zero 3 has a lower enemy kill quota comparing to other Mega Man Zero games, makes it less tedious to aim at 100 score run. For the possible improvements, fixing them should cause no desync between stages. In every Mega Man Zero game, each time you enter a stage, the RNG sets to a specific value.

Welcome to TASVideos. I have watched your memory curruption run few months ago, which is faster than this submission. Why don't you submit the faster one?

Nice improvement. Yes vote. Is it possible to open the door by standing on the platform that Lx' charge attack creates in the elevator sections of final stage, rather than waiting the elevators?

Any other games that can be bricked by memory corruption? Can you elaborate on the "demo version flag"?
Sorry for late reply. I did not hear any other CV games that can be bricked. The glitched demo version is reported by some other player, we do not know how to replicate it exactly.

One thing I forgot to mention: you can beat this game without killing any enemies. First, skip Talos and get the camera locked. Head to the relic for double jump, Skull Knight's room's left door will not get loaded so you can just walk though the boss room. Now quick save is unavailable, but you need it for memory corruption. Save the game in a save room and reset the game to regain the access to quick save. At last, memory corruption and head to final boss room. The flag for the gimmick that blocks final boss room need to be set when corrupting memory. I did not document where the flag is, but it is possible.

Talos skip works independently. I did not look into the furniture run but memory corruption still looks favorable in this branch.
I have been wanting to ask. How does the game check whether the best ending should be played? If it's decided by one single variable, wouldn't using RAM corruption take away the point of collecting all furniture? If that's the case, might as well do that in this branch like what the SotN "game end glitch" run does. :P [2547] PSX Castlevania: Symphony of the Night "game end glitch" by ForgoneMoose, sockfolder in 09:47.20
It seems that there is not a flag for best ending. The game checks the furniture directly. What you can do with memory corruption is quite limited. You can not collect furniture, collect relics, raise STR, or raise level.

Why does the encode only show what’s happening in the top right screen rather than the main bigger one?
I feel it is reasonable to show how the run originally looks like in a bigger screen, though I know audience will just focus on camhack.
McBobX wrote:
Should saving and restarting at the start of the run fix the camera? If so, then it would be better if it was done that way rather than needing the help of camhack to watch it.
Yes, and this is how speedrunners exactly fix the camera, but the idea is not attractive to me. The run looks very TAS-like now.
RetroEdit wrote:
If you could post the script that was used for generating the camhack, minimap, etc. in the encode, that would be really nice to have. It would help in understanding some of the details, and would just generally be in the spirit of open information TASing.
Those scripts are for self-use and they are very casually coded and glitchy. I need some time so I can improve them. BTW, camhack is done by cheat, resync, and trim, there is no a single script can do this job.
Fortranm wrote:
If the two glitches aren't directly related to each other, I'm looking forward to see the Talos skip in other categories too.
Talos skip works independently. I did not look into the furniture run but memory corruption still looks favorable in this branch.
Fortranm wrote:
From what I can see, the enemies outside the camera can't hurt Juste.
Objects including enemies, candles and doors outside the camera do not get loaded, it is not that Juste gets invincible, the camhack is a bit misleading.

Lua: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/64848426840299619 I made a script for item drop prediction, which should help getting Energy Form in a 100% run. Each time an enemy gets killed, the script will give a message that which pool is used. Pool 0 to 7 share the same routine to deal with item drops, and other pools use much different mechanism. As enemies with Pool 0 never drop item, Pool 6 always drop large EC, Pool 7 always drop extra life, these pools are not cover in the script. Pool 5 is used when a elf that make enemies always drop items is used. Lines in different color represent the result of item drop. White stands for nothing, red for HP, blue for EC, green for extra life, and the opacity stands for the size of HP or EC. When a line reach the bottom, corresponding result would happen. By pressing numpad1 and numpad2, the RNG can move backward and forward respectively for a step. Codes for coloring and keys for RNG cheating locates at the beginning of the script, it should be easy to modify in case you don't like it.

assuming all bosses are actually killed, which I am not sure of yet since I dont know this game enough)
Correct, all bosses are killed. In fact killing Richter and Bruner is not nesessary for a full map completion, so it would be more accurate to describe the branch as full map completion + all bosses. For me, the run do not seems to be significantly more entertaining than the all bosses run. It is like a longer version of the original one.

Never seen the trick before that shortens the pause when collecting boss fights' orbs. Have you tested this trick in other Castlevania games?

Just curious, are there any ways to warp into Castle Center A as Maxim and fight himself? It would be great if a future Maxim all bosses run includes that fight as well.
It is possible to warp into the 1x1 room where dialog takes place before Maxim fight in Castle A, but nothing will happen.

The soul orb should be skipped, like all furnitures.
Getting Soul Orb is some kind of entertainment trade-off. I do not think skipping Soul Orb is an improvement, but you can do that as long as you state how many frames are saved due to the skipping. It seems that there are no other possible improvements.

Btw, I want to improve the any% run, but I need the cheat code that allows seeing enemy's damage since Soul Orb will be skipped of course. Can you please write the cheat address?
The address is 0x02000E42, and let the value be 08. I suggest you to use the script provided in #4067: Robert_Ordis's GBA Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance "Simon, Hard, Boss Rush" in 07:51.27 instead.

Finally, the route for all furniture run is determined. The final route is approximately 20s faster than the one showed in the prior post. It is proved that getting Crushing Stone is faster, with a new way of getting it.
