Ah, alright, then. I doubt I'll ever manage a death-warped run, so I probably can't use the first one. As for the second, I do recall that being possible, though I honestly don't even remember the "intended way" of getting there at this point. I'll play around a little bit to remind myself.
You don't need do that sequence-break if you are going to beat the game with glitch-warps, as you can tell from the old warped movies by pirate_sephiroth (somehow manageable in realtime) and by zggzdydp (bat-corner-sinking requires frame-and-pixel-perfection and is very difficult in realtime).

I doubt if this kind of emulators simulators can be "accurate as the real hardware" to any degree, since the "J2ME Virtual Machine" on which the code runs does not emulate any real hardware at all. Could we be satisfied with a theoric "Generic J2ME Gaming Platform"? EDIT: More specifically about accuracy.

Wasn't it a popularized phrase in some English-speaking regions (Hong Kong?) decades ago? Anyhow, I don't think the language version matters much here.

"Koren" is used in the patch, like "Bigieu" (美獣) and "Jagan" (邪眼). I believe the translator thought that 紅蓮 reads as kouren, and so used the name "Koren" (most other sources, such as Rikaichan, say that 紅蓮 reads as guren). Personally, I could have not used any reading of 紅蓮 at all, and just used "Crimson Lotus Wizard". But that's too long to say over and over, so I used the short name from the patch: "Koren".
"紅蓮" (nelumbo nucifera/nelumbium speciosum) could stand for "鉢特摩(はどま)地獄" (Padma Naraka), the seventh of the eight Cold Narakas. If it is relevent here, it should be translated to "Padma".

Games worth single-level TASing.

Ah, thanks, then. Can you elaborate about the use you were thinking of? I've never seen another damage boost, and I'm curious what it might lead to.
Floating Garden: Without the ability to double-jump, you can still reach the higher floors in the room with a Golem inside it, by getting knocked flying with the Golem's upcutting at the correct position. It was originally worked out in my first death-warped run but then obsoleted when I figured out that I could skip straight from the entrance of Creaking Skeleton's room to Chaotic Realm. Inner Quarter: I must have been misleading with this one. I was actually talking about one of the early-discovered sequence-breaks that you could exploit the very Flying Armor with double-jump to enter Inner Quarter from its "exit" intended by the designer. It has nothing to do with damage-boost.

Second, the Japanese version is harder, so for those who've played the game it looks more impressive.
But if you think the other way around... People who have played the easier version might expect this less impresive than this movie is and they might actually "confirm" that via autosuggestion, and that would waste your extra efforts. Such situations have been observed with games like Ninja Gaiden 3. Just imagine: "Oh I remember this was the easiest game in the original series! Must be least impressive!" said people who played the (J) version of that game. So I think it's important to emphasize that "this run uses the Japanese version which is harder" in the descriptions.

I've gotten two piece of advice: one saying that I just have to be hit at the very peak of the jump, and that's it; the other saying I need to find the right place on the slope to jump from. Since the TAS doesn't jump from the slope nor have my attempts doing so gotten anywhere close, i'm going to assume it's all about height.
Sorry, I mistook it for some other different applications in to get to Inner Quarter/higher layers of Floating Garden. Then here it is all about height. However you still have to get as close as possibe to the ledge before getting hit at the peak of the jump.

@mapler90210: It might be worth noting that in this game the extra height that you can gain from damage-boost is very small, so make sure you start jumping from the slope as high as possible while you are still able to reach the ledge with the horizontal momentum gained from the damage-boost - that is to say, you should utilize the extra horizontal length rather than the extra vertical height from the damage-boost.

@FODA: Are you using Win7, too? EDIT: I've addressed that bug. It was locale-related and quite dated. I wonder how it could be there in the first place. @MUGG: So does it work as expected when you are just editing, but corrupt the files when you save them?

@jlun2: They were mostly the same people. And mostly you positive commenters were, too. It could be the very concern that the arguement about deaths in Metal Slug runs might create a gap in the community.

So I can't see how "this run had inarguably poor feedback" could be a convincing statement. And I can't make the "fair" conclusion "the user base dislikes Metal Slug runs with deaths", either.
Since when do movies get accepted/rejected on a pure >50% basis? You are a judge, you should know that. 5 positive, and 4 negative? That is a high percentage of negative feedback; especially for this site. Where is your outrage over this submission with better feedback? Or how about this submission? What makes this submission special?
I sense straw man. But let me explain myself first. While I respect your decision, what I've been disagreeing with you on is your reasons: 1. "this run had inarguably poor feedback" - really? There have been two posters arguing that. Reminder ("outrage" #1): As long as you are a judge, you should neither have used exaggerations to scare the players, nor have appeared to be dissmissive about serious submissions. 2. "the user base dislikes Metal Slug runs with deaths" - How could published Metal Slug runs with death-abuses hurt the user base of this site? I cannot honestly conclude such a consequence from your reasonings. Hence I disagree. Wild guess ("outrage" #2): Could this be that you were also attempting to scare the other judges with exaggerations? My vote is Meh as I stated above, by which I meant I wouldn't care about whether this is accepted or rejected. So you see my "outrage" already? It's not specific to this submission, instead, it's specific to your inappropriate comments. Now let's move on to the rest problems: Did I talk about how many negative votes/comments should result in rejection? - Negative. You can just read my posts here. Is this submission special to me? - No. Then is it special to anyone? - Yes, the author, as this is one of his first submissions as a new-comer, and his comments suggest that he prefer this one. So why do you keep arguing with me things that I didn't talk about? What do the other submissions you referred have to do with this one? Could you please read my actual posts (they were in unpainful English) instead of making up assumptions?

The end result of this process is simply a series of key-presses which can be performed on the original hardware." From the TASVideos about page. The entire point of this website was to show how games can be played if human reflexes and mistakes were not a factor, not how games can be played if things that are part of the game are removed (through inaccurate emulation).
Alright, I'll try to reword that better.

DarkKobold: Judging, and removing branch, since it is more 'no death' than a specific character.
This run shouldn't be used to represent the "main branch" (or "trunk") since it uses a suboptimal character.

Warning: It has been verified that the SVN revisions 418 and 420 are both buggy and will cause your movie to be erased everytime your movie length grows greater than the next multiplies of 2048 frames! More 3s: That's really a tiny (~1/300, or ~0.33%) improvement for this game.

Although it is a little late, I'd rather say that this movie is very likely to be improvable. However, I believe we concern more about fresh-ness when it is a new concept (literally) demo, hence my Yes vote for this.
