The game is mostly the same, except for a different board. The computer also seems dumber in the snes version.

Would anybody be interested in seeing this? I currently completed a run where I (playing as white) beats the computer in 5.5 moves (11 ply) I can also do one playing as the black side, if that is a requirement for a tas of this game.

^I don't have a ps1 controller either. If I get a new desktop computer, i might resume working on this, but right now I'm working on chessmaster for snes. I don't know if anyone's interested in that game, but if there is sufficient interest I might create a new topic for it.

thanks, i might get the controller if i have enough spare time. The tas input plugin looks a bit ... complicated to use.

Just wondering ... where did you get that controller and how much did it cost?

it's not as precise as a real controller.

You shouldn't vote no if you've never seen it, that's predisposition for the worse.

This project has been cancelled (or put on indefinite hold). Apparently my roommate's being a dick and doesn't let me use his computer for tasing anymore. I can't do it on my computer because mine doesn't recognize the n64 controller adapter. I will switch to chessmaster for SNES. If anyone else wants to take this project up, feel free to do so.

well, I did get 2 seconds for metal mario in real time, but since fraps slowed PJ64 down it's kinda tool-assisted.

Why don't you just download the already-made avi off bittorrent?

Ok, I unchecked Raw Data, but now whenever I load the rom it freezes Mupen and I'm not able to open the movie file.

Fastest Super Mario 64 any% or 100%, it would be nice to know if you could beat that game without any stars, and see how much time can shaved from FODA's run, since there are so many different routes.

Most of the timesavers in that game consist of tau/damage boosts, not shooting at enemies.

I know that I have to load the savestate after opening a movie file without "read-only" checked. When I record the first segment, I make the savestate in the middle and then open my movie file while it is still recording. Am I supposed to click "stop recording" before opening up my movie file?

well, whenever I turn on Mupen and load the rom I can record. I can also record from a savestate, as long as I didn't open a movie file. Once I load the movie file, it seems like the rerecording function is lost. For example, let's say I record a segment, and while recording I make a savestate halfway into the segment. After I open my recorded movie file, I load the savestate (which according to the FAQ should initiate rerecording). However, when I am finished rerecording and play back the movie file, it is the exact same as the first one I made - the one in which I originally made the savestate. In other words, rerecording never took place. Basically the only way I can go about is to make a perfect segment every time without rerecording. EDIT: I'm using mupen 0.5 if that makes any difference.

The higher the fps, the more time saved by frame advance. This assumes that JFG runs at variable speeds on a console as well.
