Great run Adelikat! I remember discussing the route for your original run on these boards 10 years ago. Seems like it was only yesterday! I'm glad you went back and improved your run of this game. So many modern RPGs fail to capture the simplicity and fun that these old Dragon Warrior games did so well. A time of just under 2 hours seems appropriate for this game since it really does tell a complete story from beginning to end.

Here is my detailed ranking of favorites. 1. Chrono Trigger. You mean I can start a new game and use my characters from the last playthrough?!? 2. Final Fantasy VI. So many different ways to play. Super repeatable. Easy to come up with personal challenges, etc. 3. Link to the Past. Not considered an RPG by many. 4. Dragon Quest V. Best RPG never translated into English (until Nintendo DS). Recruit monsters into your party before Pokemon was around. 5. Final Fantasy IV. Great story. Why can't I keep the twins in my party? Why?!? 6. Super Mario RPG. So many mini games. Interactive battle dynamics. 7. Dragon Quest VI. Deep story, but a little too weird for me. 8. Breath of Fire II. Fun, but drags in places. Some characters are too weak to really use. 9. Secret of Mana. I want this ranked much higher, but it is too darn hard to hit the bosses with weapon attacks. 10. Illusion of Gaia. Very creative gameplay and story. 11. Secret of Evermore. Why should I level up alchemy formulas? I can kill everything with weapon attacks too easily. 12. Actraiser. Often not considered an RPG. Really fun to play in a day though. 13. Lufia 1. The dungeons go on and on and on. The random encounters keep coming and coming and coming. 14. 7th Saga. You mean I'm stuck here because I can't defeat the monsters outside? I have to restart? Obviously, this is only of games I've played. Don't hate me because I've never finished Earthbound.

Ok, well I will go ahead and just use (unknown) for subtitles which is what is done for TASEditor movies.

Uh, is there a typo with the re-records? 5.4 million would be a new world record. I'm working on a YouTube encode, but won't do it until I know the correct number.

1944M, 1943M, and 1941M have all been fixed. I don't have dumps for any of the earlier encodes which are mine, so I probably won't be doing those anytime soon. There is other stuff I'd like to get to encoding at the moment.

Is there any way to easily/systematically detect when this issue occurs? Lex stated he used some very specific settings, but I'm not sure if in the end it wasn't just an eyeball test to see if the range was limited. If we can test it, I would suggest we need to add this to the encoding guide wiki pages. I examine the log/output files for each of my encodes and no errors were present (since this was the result of a x264 bug). Not to mention that Grunt and Ilari, as well as others watched the encodes and did not notice the problem. This is likely due to not having our settings in a state where we could see the problems. I'm less concerned about having to do some re-encode some movies than I am about preventing something like this from happening in the future. Was this issue really detectable by anyone except someone looking for it? Also, the encoding guide has no mention of 10bit444 or any kind of standards for it. It has been stated elsewhere that eventually this might become the "standard" encode for each movie. Like Lex, I want to make encodes of the highest quality, should there be more criteria listed somewhere of what is unacceptable?

TheKDX7, was this updated for the second time? I'm ready to publish, but want to make sure the right version has been updated. 5:00.23 is correct?

Nice work on this natt. Hopefully in the future the emulator will be improved to make dumping easier.

Yes vote. Personally, I think OoT should have more branches published. It is a special game with a unique community that is unlike any other. I hate the idea that the only published OoT runs in the future will all be (J). I would rather see both versions exist since I find them entertaining in different ways.

I've tried doing some additional testing on this. I messed around with several different Dolphin configuration options, but the audio always seems to be longer than the video. Even if you are dumping only a single minute, the audio is several frames longer.

Hmm, that seems a little too large. Did you do any kind of special encoding? Like enlarging one of the screens? For example, here is a DS encode I uploaded this week. It's 1.5GB, Camstudio Lossless (which tends to only be a little better than Lagarith in my experience) and the video is 12:42 in length. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91nBG5z38PM Upload time varies by connection. It took me about 2-3 hours to upload.

I'm not sure when this started, but all Dragon Quest/Warrior games use Roman numerals in their titles rather than digits. This is similar to Castlevania and Double Dragon. Was there some reason numerals were not used for the NES Dragon Warriors? Should 5 be changed to V?

So excited about this run! Touch-me, I am uploading the video file to YouTube and will post the link onto the submission when it is completed.

I'm sure it's very well played, but this game is just bad. It's like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles NES, except that it consists of only the top-down map screens. Ugh. I suggest this game be added to this list.

The only redeeming quality about movies of this game are that they are so short. I swear if going up those stairs lasted another minute...it would be grue food delight. With that being said, a nice improvement to an already short movie.

Can someone with privileges please replace the movie file with the one 3 posts above? I'm working on the encodes for this and will publish soon.

Turska, are you still doing the primary and 10bit444 for this? Err, I guess we are waiting on a slight improvement anyway, nevermind.

Was there any consensus on category for this? I will publish if it has been determined. "ram corruption"? "glitched"? others?

Just to clarify, my problem has been that the audio is too long for the video. The audio dumped as 34:05 and the video dumped as 34:02. So yeah, deleting video frames wouldn't help in this case.

Yeah, I tried another test encode using AssumeFPS. It made the audio and video lengths match, but the audio still lagged behind over the course of the video.

Hmm, an interesting idea. Up until now, my efforts have been on altering the audio. Do all Wii games run at 59.941? Where did you find that particular number?

I'm working on encodes for this. I will likely use the YT methods which FractalFusion shared in another thread as it provides a nice way to deal with the flicker in this game.

Yeah, I haven't tried it, but that seems correct. The bigger issue right now is that the audio from dumping is 3 seconds longer than the video.
