Fairly interesting run, Yes vote. Oh, and we should rename this to "Pink Alarm" since it looks pink on an emulator. (sarcasm)

Awesome run! Though I also want a 2D encode. I'm way too lazy to go get my 3D glasses. I swear, my eyes are STRAINED, and I didn't watch it very long at all.

A Virtual Boy emulator. Why couldn't you make this earlier? We needed one right from the start! YOU CAN'T CALL IT A COLLECTION OF VIDEO GAME SPEED RUNS IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE VIRTUAL BOY!!!!! Haha, just kidding. But yeah, no use making a wish list, because it's not going to take five hours to name off all 22 games made for this abomination.

The Saturn version is kind of emulatable, but we'll have to wait for a later release of Yabuse that fixes desyncing. The GBA version is very terrible in my opinion. The music will garuntee your ears bleeding by the end of the day, there's a lot of video issues with frame skipping, and a lot about the game has been lowered in difficulty, like the amount of hit points you have. I'd much rather wait for a more reliable DOSbox, PCSX, or Yabuse emulator.

Aside from the lack of luck manipulation, I do think this is a good movie.

Well, it could be worse. My only published movie has 10,000 re-records and it's about an hour long.

Time to begin TASing this game. I saw there's not a lot of Rayman runs going on, and Rayman 3 is my favorite handheld Rayman game, as it mixes elements of Rayman 1, 2, and 3. It's also the only one I really know a lot about, but there is only one thing I don't know - how many cages you need to access other worlds. I know for fact Wanderwood Forest requires 5, but I don't know the rest. In any cases, I've already started, and here's the WIP of the first level. You might notice I spend little time in the air, and that's because Rayman moves a microscopic second slower in the air than he does on the ground. The WIP's improvable, such as the cage I struggled with at the end, but other than that I think it went well. I will only get cages that are on the beaten path, since those are the least time wasting.

Ahhh, I was using the wrong emulator. Thanks for the encode! Yes vote.

Weird, this movie just desyncs for me. I'll have to wait for an encode. >:(

I didn't really know if this was going to get published, but the fact we have Mega Man I-III for the Game Boy only raises the question, as those were half ports of the NES counterparts while also making it a half-port of the sequel to that. (MMI was 1 and 2, MMII was 2 and 3...) There are also limitations to this game that do not allow tricks that were possible in DKC2 (like falling too far, as going past the camera kills you), but it's also the inverse as well. Squawks can shoot faster (which I probably should've demonstrated more often), Dixie can do the spin-cancel, Bramble Blast has more short-cuts, and Rattle Battle is possible without Rattly unless you need the bonuses. Though I'm not sure if that's enough.

Thanks for all the feedback! And to mike89 for finishing this! I'm a newbie TASer, and I'm only 14, so this isn't one of the most optimized runs you'll see. I'm hoping for an improvement sometime soon, but for now, this is what I have. Level By Level Comments: 1st World: A bit rusty. I wish I would've watched this part before moving on! There's some minor improvements here and there. Hot-Head-Hop: Here I discovered a trick with Squitter where if you press B and then Select on the next frame, you'll land on the web platform no matter how fast you travel (unless there's lag, which is almost unavoidable in this game!). I guess he's officially the new Squawks. Kannon's Klaim: Went well, although I'm pretty sure most of you are asking why I entered a barrel from the side instead of the top. When I tried the top, the short-cut wouldn't work. Weird, huh? Lava Lagoon: This level was painful and frustrating to TAS. I used a trick where you switch-sacrifice. Only I did it a bit sooner than I should've. Oh well. Barrel Bayou: Here's a trick I found in a testrun of this game. When rotating a controllable barrel, there's one frame where you can shoot in between a vertical/horizontal and diagonal direction. It's pretty nice, since you can skip large portions with this trick and maintain a fast speed. Glimmer's Galleon: I would've done this stage blind, but I couldn't skip most of the barrels. To be honest, I have no clue how I swam above one of them. Krockhead Klamber: Things get more interesting about halfway through this level. Slime Climb: This level always seems to get the best of optimization. This is also one of those levels where Diddy is on-camera for about thirty seconds, and Dixie comes back to steal the show. Target Terror: I LOVE the rollercoaster music. There is a trick where if you continually jump up ramps, you won't slow down as much. Bramble Blast: Credit goes to Blaziken257 on Youtube for posting a speed run of this level using all those short-cuts. I would've never found them without him! Rickety Race: The kremlings are a nice boost to help save time not going uphill. Bramble Scramble: I discovered a trick on this level where if you hit the corner of a bramble and roll on the same frame, you will roll off the bramble without getting hurt! I have no clue how I was able to find this the first moment I could make good use of it. Rambi Rumble: Featuring...DIXIE CLIMBING SUPER FAST UP WALLS OF HONEY! And...RAMBI KILLING AN ENEMY WITH HIS BIG BUTT! Krazy Koaster: This level replaces Haunted Hall in DKC2. Probably because it was impossible to get Kackle to work on Game Boy. It does have similarities, like a bonus stage with more stars than you need. I'll finish this later. Gusty Glade: For some reason, the wind hardly affects you at all on the ground. Thus the reason I spend some of the level on the ground. Parrot Chute Panic: If you go past the camera on this level, you'll die. It's rather annoying! Worse yet, if you run into unavoidable lag, the camera moves even SLOWER. This is one of the few levels that might have been better off in an any% TAS, considering the fact one bonus leads to a Quawks (yes that's his name) barrel. Windy Well: You can get a slight boost if you touch a platform while floating up. Dungeon Danger: This level replaces Castle Crush (which is nice since that level is LONG). K. Rool. Duel: I really should've used Diddy here. Oh well. Last 3 Levels: Boy, I'm impressed with your work mike89! Since this is my first submission, I may improve this, but maybe not now.

This certainly brings back memories... OH WHAT THE CRUD? STOP KILLING ME STUPID ENEMIES!!! GRRRRR! Great TAS, by the way. The only complaint I have is that you didn't do Lights Out blind like I hoped. I realize it would have wasted time, but I still would have loved to see it. I did like the rest, though. Yes vote.

Sorry about the long wait. You can do it if you like. I'll get it on Microstorage in a minute. EDIT: Ok, here you go. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1191536487/Donkeykongland2-100percent-legoking831.vbm

Oh man, has it been five months since I last touched my old 100% TAS? I REALLY need to get back to work on that. You can go on ahead and do your any% run, I don't know how long it'll take me to get back at my TAS. I actually made it all the way to maybe the third to last level of the game!

I'm having a lot of trouble with lag at the moment with DeSmuME. I've tried frame skip and increasing the throttle, but neither seem to do much. Are there any other ways?

Okay, so my patience didn't last as long as I thought it would. The first two levels, plus Betilla. I'm posting this here because I'd like to get feedback on the .ymv. Is it synching up for others? If it doesn't, does it reliably desynch in the same spot? It would help in assessing my situation. The reason why I'm stopping here for now is because in the two and a half minutes done, I've counted 7 spots where it might desynch. And it seems to do so 95% of the time. I don't think I can take a full game's worth of very likely desynchs. So yes, some feedback would be appreciated.
Could you upload it to Youtube? I'd be more than happy to give you feedback, but I'm not the emu-expert here.

Yes, I love this run! It's faster than Sonic and Knuckles' times, and it shows some amazing optimization. Definitley accept it! I got upset to learn when this first ended up in gruefood!

There are some changes that are annoying between versions- The music is PAINFUL to listen to in the GBA version. I've heard so many people complain about the watered down music with SNES ports, like SMA1/2/3/4, DKC1/2,Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis... all of those don't even match up to the annoyance of this one. The game is significantly easier in the GBA version, like- You have 4/6 health points instead of 3/5 Running and going down slopes is slower, making it easy to react You start with 5 lives instead of 3 Any spot that makes something appear is now clearly visible- sparks show. The original's spots were invisible, making the "skip Dark Rayman" trick harder. Some cages are easier to find or easier to make appear. The one in the first scene of Bongo Hills was moved and now it's painfully obvious. There's absolutley no way you can miss it. The game frame skips almost 90% of the time. It makes it almost unpleasent to watch. There you go. The "easier" already means you probably shouldn't run the GBA version, as you must use the hardest difficulty possible.

AUGH! This has totally gotten off of my mind! Must have gotten bored! Anyhow, I'm at Klobber Karnage, then it's Animal Antics, and lastly, Krocodile Kore.

I haven't even watched this and I already know it's gonna be bad. Sorry, but if you're gonna share a freerun, do it either on YouTube, or in the Tool-Assisted Laboratory forum. I just said it's bad. Sue me. And guess what? I'm only three years older than you, if you think I'm an immature adult.

The Saturn version had some other extra stuff, but it all only benefits you if you are playing casually, such as being able to re-watch the anime cutscenes.

Dang, so many new rerecording emulators! I guess with all of them, you need a wishlist. Rayman (The GBA port stinks, and PCSX will not play the PS1 version) Sonic R (For the heck of it :-\) I'm not that into the Saturn, so I think you need to continue the list.
