I have been playing CO-OP DOOM/DOOM2 megawads on Legacy TCP/IP with my friend for several years now. Some of them are so ruthless and unforgiving. Now playing CCHEST2.WAD and just ran through CCHEST.WAD. Some of the best architecture and map design there is. Our personal favourites are Memento Moris and Requiem. Completed them several times now. Always up for some new megawads if you have some nice ones to suggest. They must be CO-OP multiplayer compatible.

I just played this on the virtual console and It would make a damn fine game to TAS. Like Star Fox for maximum score perhaps?

Commander Keen-series. Also Jazz Jackrabbit 1 & perhaps 2 Old Epic Megagames like Jill of the Jungle, Epic Pinball and such... Speaking of Pinballs, Psycho Pinball, Pinball Illusions, Fantasies... and I'd like to see a perfected Nethack with extreme luck abuse on the levels and drops.

New version. it's almost up to boss and then I screw up. and I dunno how I can resume it let's say 5 seconds ago. Always when I try to resume it starts to record from that point, not from the last video. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/2034/Hammerin%27%20Harry%20%28E%29%20%5B%21%5D.fcm

I'm working on this game at the moment and it seems a good game to TAS. Quick stages, quick bosses, bonus stages to show-off and requires somewhat planning to make it through quickly. My first attempt finished at 8:09 and it can be improved by 10-20 seconds by various strategies. The game has a nasty habit to randomize the enemies appearing in the stages.. so it's always different every playtime. Bonus stages are random also. Here's a sample through stage 1 and 2 all the way to stage 3 boss when I die. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/2027/Hammerin%27%20Harry%20%28E%29%20%5B%21%5D.fcm *changed the file*

Seconded! I never got the character to open any doors, talking to people or even RUN so I really would like to see what lies after the first room.. :)

It looks ok enough to publish, imho. I just wonder if some of the parts could be done better. For example you have only to fight one opponent and you only can land a few punches because it's offscreen? You could just have used a Super in that point. Other thing that bothered me was you used the last enemy in stage 3 to smash the bus stop and it made you to wait for the last enemy to come to you. Why just not fight the enemies near the bus stop and smash it midst the battle? Could be faster. Other thing that perhaps could be done better was changing the moves you use, even if it would be a half minute slower. Looks better to show off a few moves more.

I'm the early days I played Megaman 2 the most, coolest music too! On SNES I have MMX and MMX3 on cart and I think they are equal in comparison. Both have excellent music and stages. And I just need to mention MMX6 too, it has some nice ideas and music.

I posted a run before too, but it was rejected (I missed too much shots too, I only collected speed powerups to make it look more stylish...) I plan on making a new run someday.. to give it an aesthetic feeling. This run is not quite finished, so I'm afraid my vote is No also.

Hmm, gotta look into that. Perhaps when I got time I'll fix the bugs and post my run. Just got into engineering school..

Good work indeed! Now I just gotta wait until somebody does runs which get all the treasures too. That would be nice.

Good thing somebody is picking this project up! I wish you luck manipulating the enemies, it's tough work. Are you using the same route as me or did you find a better one?

There's one minor thing to look at - improve the 2nd Dracula Castle boss fight. There's plenty of invincibility time (from what I see) so you could burn off that last heart hitting him with a well timed axe. See if you can be more aggressive yet.
Yeah.. that boss is damn nasty to hit. I have to jump so I hit the boss if I'm lower platform than he is. IF I do that he'll whip the hell out of me doing so. The boss has a evil habit of start whipping and not stopping until I back away so it was faster to hit him in the back (and less painful too). That was the fastest way I managed to kill him. I hate when I left that one axe, gotta at least use that.

The major problem with your run is heart management.
I have fixed that in Version 3. I only leave one heart in the Dracula Castle 2

Dracula - Last time you went the wrong direction at start. Take advantage of that you know where he's going.
Dracula has been fixed.
Sir VG wrote:
Hit management was a bit weak too. You CAN get throttled in the direction you need, you proved it yourself. Work it better.
In version 3 I take as many hits as possible to make it faster. You should watch it.
Sir VG wrote:
Jump less.
In version 3 I jump less, and when I jump I try to make my jumps not to lose frames, when it's possible.

Overall not bad, but much to improve yet.
Thanks. Version 3 is improved by 3 minutes.

A new version is done http://www.geocities.com/mazzeneko/Castlevania2BRV3.zip It still has couple things to fix, but what do you think? It's a slow game so not much perfection needed. Couple times I needed to use Frame Advance, but usually ran with 50% or 25% speed. *edit* It's ran with Castlevania 2 - Belmont's Revenge (U) [!]

I did a quick run testing things and got it just under 30mins. I ran it with 100% speed and left over tons of hearts after each stage. http://www.geocities.com/mazzeneko/castle2brv1.zip It has lots of stuff that I must do better but if people are intrested enough I can make a better one. Slow game tho. The ending and credits are horrible. *edit* Got a time 2 minutes better than this and is still improveable. Still trying.. *mumble* *edit again* Dunno if anyone ever sees this topic but.. http://www.geocities.com/mazzeneko/Castlevania2GBstage1.zip It's stage 1 (Crystal Castle) done quick.. Only thing that could be improveable is to get the two jellyfish monsters to stay in the ceiling long enough to get past em. I have once seen that happen but I don't know what causes it. Some progress again. The four castles are now down with a time of 16:39. Now dracula's castle.

I know this run is "100%" but... this run only collects all herbs and red jewels..? I know red jewels are the point but why all the herbs as well? Why not just make a run with real "100%" where you kill all the enemies to get your attack, def and life to max AND collect all red jewels.. I don't think collecting herbs has any point. :T Just my opinion. Oh, and the run looks good so far, just one question. About the two vampires. Can you just kill one of em so they don't get to use their twin attack, that makes you lose some frames (the vampires are invurnerable when they do it)?

Im not sure if some of you are mistaking some of the missed shots that are left overs, the rebound shoots 3 bullets at once, some enemies only take 1 or 2 bullets to die so the third keeps going past them, not sure if this is the issue.
Well.. that is excatly what looks bad. Why are you even using a weapon that misses shots after killing an enemy.. Aren't there weapons that can be shot only twice (killing the enemy) and then there would not be a leftover bullet? I, personally, think that a better weapon planning would help things up? Just a suggestion.. If rebound is the strongest weapon then it should be used in a way where all the three shots actually hit something.

I have the european cartridge over there and I can select Sim mode or the Action mode right from the start.. and no, I don't have any playthrough-saves there. And I can play the Action mode from the Europen version of the rom too.. so there.

Why not just make a run with Action-mode? I think the sim-mode is kinda slow and doesn't really help with the run..

I'm afraid I'm voting No for this one.. The main goal in this run is not to be quick, only collect all the gems, which itself takes too much time. Just making the stages quick as possible would be better. And you seem to be missing quite much shots too. Perhaps if you would make a run with the main goal to be as fast as possible and make all your shots hit it would be nice.
