What purpose do levels serve? None at all? I thought it made you stronger. Is there any hope of a 2P run?
Levels does make Percival go bald. It doesn't affect your power or defence at all. 2P run would be way slower because the other character would be Arthur or Lancelot and they cannot dash and I would have to kill the enemies I can skip with Percival's dash. So there :P And you really cannot harm bosses when they're down and when you're gonna attack them ..well.. Percival's overhead slash does the most damage and the other character would be useless. Well.. the double special attack would do wonders against Iron Golem tho... But still it would be slower overall. I think.

Using it against even just two darknuts is hard, let alone three or four. Notice how close I am to the darknut when I freeze them? If you don't get that close and swing right away he'll return to normal. A lot of the time I would just get hit by the other. And after a dark nut is frozen once, if you try to freeze him again he'll stop moving but he won't be frozen. After he 'thaws' then you can freeze him again. Kinda weird. Plus, their helmet has to be removed...and I just did it for the ultra nuts, because they have like 2x+ the health of a normal one. I didn't really miss any hits for the bird boss. I did, for some weird reason, miss the lunge 2x, but I didn't miss any opportunity for more damage. You can't hit him more than one time before his mask falls off. For the ghost boss I don't see what you mean. Are you talking about the charged up attack from Orca? That takes 10 belts. It may not be evident in the first ghost boss, but in the second you can clearly see that the fire arrows take out more than one ghost at a time. And like you said, you still have to throw him 3x. If you only had to throw him 2x then that would be a nice move. As for the worm...bleh. I think I did about as good as I can do in Ganon's Castle. Wind Temple's worm was mediocre, but acceptable to me. It's just sorta random; the trick is to get the baby worms away from the big one so they don't steal your L-lock.
Ah, explains a lot. And about that ghost-boss I meant the normal charged up slash. Not the orca one. I hit about 4 ghosts with it at once. You used the Fire Arrow so I think the time is kinda the same eighter way ^.^'' And the bird, I just meant that you could hit it just once with normal attack and not lunge at all. you lose there that ....err.. half a second or so ^^' so I dunno if that was even neccesary in such a long run.

My friend said this to me the other day... He is saying that Speedruns and Time Attacks are pointless because games are meant to be played with "enjoyment?" and not sweaty microaccurate playing as fast as possible. He said that he'll watch a normally played video instead of fastest as possible. That's just sad I think. I don't see the point in normally played videos instead. :) I, myself, like making microaccurate stuff and then see the result in nicely made video. I play games without save states/on a console too... "normally" and not as fast as possible, but he still doesn't understand my passion for time attacks :) I just wanna know why you guys started this hobby (or job? :P) and what are your opinions about speedrunning and time attacking games. And at the same time enlighten my friend here why time attacks exist. :)

Is there a frame advance in Snes9x? I have played only decreasing the speed for couple of times. I just wanna do the Gokujou Parodius aesthetic a little better. The slowdown is not good enough. Yeah it's a silly question but I'm still wondering.

Now that I have watched that run entirely I was stunned how fast he (I assume he's a he) found those Triforce charts... 1½ hours...It took me 4 and half days to get those... well.. I did make some sidequests and other silly things. And knowing the places beforehand helps I suppose :). He could have done a better job at battles. I don't know why he didn't use that Ice Arrow + Hammer combo earlier on the armored fellas.. Could have saved up another few mins perhaps. And even I did better job at some of the bosses... I killed that big ghost (well.. the little ghosts...) faster with only using the powered up slash. Got three ghosts at once. Then just slashed at the rest, without using arrows. Took me 3 throws but I was left with only two ghosts or so after the third. And I just ignored the smaller worms and attacked the "tongue" directly at the worm-boss. And he also missed a shot at the Helmabird (? helmasaur...) every time he had a chance with the Hammer. But overall it was a nice run. And the overworld knowledge was impressive enough to give this run an A-grade. (And a A+++++ grade for killing that plant boss with only ONE combo in the end... which was nice.)

I have watched the first 4 parts of The Wind Waker speedrun and it looks excellent so far. Only thing bothered me was that ***** sound when the boat's sail is abused. Does that make the boat go faster or is it just to make other people annoyed? Wump wump wump wump wump....

I'll try Sky Blazer again today. I haven't tried the final snes9x 1.43 out yet. I cannot really upload my WIP runs anywhere so perhaps I'll make this work and then post the complete run here if it turns out well. I just tell you this: Comet Flash is the best thing time attacking has seen in a while. It can be used to complete Lair of Kharyon under a minute :) If you just try to get some magic restores from enemies (500-600 re-records...sigh)

I have done Skyblazer about 5 times or so but it always desynchs at Petrolith Castle so I think time attack is'nt possible.

yeah I got it, but I do think that you were able to kill some of them without losing time, just to improve the "fun factor". I meant it's quite frustrating to see all these enemies getting away with it. If they are in front of you, shoot them, it's free it doesnt take time and much spectacular IMO. Watching you dashing like this is a little boring, that's my point.
If I'm up to it perhaps I'll make a more aggressive movie ...but now I'm fixated to make Skyblazer time attack work properly. damn thing just keeps on desynching and desynching and des...

Levelupping does NOT make you do more damage. Or it's so little that it's not really worth it. So that's a bit sad. Taking staves makes me lose a second so I'm not taking those :). I try to get other levelups from enemies in places where it doesn't really make me lose time. Like waiting for enemies to spawn or other places. The Max level would take a good 10mins more. The chests are fixed tho. Whacking few chests will turn out to be 3,4 or more little moneysacks. Obviously 3 little bags are worth less than one big chest. And I don't know if there's more enemies in 2 player game...

As for the game, though I'm not an expert at KoR, I have played it and I am impressed with the fighting in this run, very fluid & efficient. Bosses are manipulated very well and excess health is put to good use. However, I've a few (well, two) questions before I go vote. 1: You appear to start a sprint before you are allowed to move forward sometimes, why not wait until the screen is ready to move? 2: The outro apparently requires controller input, yet you stopped the movie right after the boss. That's going to mess up any movie encoding somewhat, so why do it? Also, it's a well known truth that the attack power of a fighting game character is inversely proportional to the amount of head hair and directly proportional to the amount of chest and facial hair. Percie's baldness at higher level should be welcomed with open arms! :p
1: Well.. it really doesn't waste any time :P I just do that ..I dunno why. Better than just standing around ..perhaps? 2: the outro requires to have Max level character to become king. Just wait and Arthur will take the throne. So it doesn't really affect the ending.

Booo-ya! I finally got it under 20mins!! I'm submitting this. The improvement from this would be only few seconds. It's all about your position on the screen how enemies will move and react with you. Damn annoying... (just like turtles IV...^.^'') If you wonder why my position is odd sometimes it's all about manipulating enemies to move in right direction. So don't complain about that :) I think my boss strategies are okay too.

btw, why didnt you shoot the enemy in the 5-6 first stages ? I think you could do it without losing time. I also think that you were be able to play more skillfully regarding the damages you took, didn't you?
Just like I said. I was just aiming for fastest time. I didn't really care about enemies. If it wasn't neccesary to shoot em (like in the last stage...keeping me alive) I didn't do so.

Well I last played that game 10 yeaurs ago so I forgot some details. Can you dash with your shield ? And about the desynch prob. are you sure you used the cybernator (U) rom and snes wip1 ??
You cannot dash with a shield. :( And yes, I used Cybernator (U) and WIP1. But my friend also complained about this game desynching with the previous version of the movie also. (the 6min slower one) Both work perfectly for me, tho.

I just wanted to dodge their bullets in stage 2. To make an aesthetic feeling to it. And to use vulcan needs to be aimed more carefully making moving around more difficult. I wanted the primary thing to be just to make through the stages fastest as possible.

I just did time attack with Napalm.. 18mins 4secs If you guys wanna see I could post this.. Bosses are killed in fastest as possible but there's some improvement in the stages. in Stage 1 just dash all the way and as much as possible. Boss is destroyed with MG. Stage2, I try to dodge all the bullets in the autoscrolling stage then just fly to boss and kill it in 3 hits. Stage3, dash away and shoot the obstacles. I kill the midboss (the laser turrets) before they can change places. At the boss I destroy the Mecha without losing any time destroying the engines. The engines can only be harmed if they are on screen. Stage4, I try to levelup weapons as I go. nothing more. I try to get Genmark to highest altitude possible when I finally "destroy" the boss. Stage5, I skip the Laser because I don't really have time firing it... so.. Midboss is destroyed as fast you can shoot the Napalm at it. The Shuttle was pain in the ***. First u must destroy the side-engine-thingies and then cockpit. I also destroy 3 of those flying mechas and one turret without losing any time. Stage6, First I destroy the "bunny-mechs" as they appear. The "worm" was just laughable. 3 hits and it's over. Then navigate through the tunnels (I think the way is fastest what I'm using). The "bosses" are destroyed as fast as possible, due the slow recharge rate of Napalm. Changing weapons is useless because they are just weaker than slow firing Napalm. Stage7, I hated this stage. I just tried to dash around until health gave up and then dodge and destroy mechas as I go. The midboss was weird. if you killed it too fast the General wouldn't evacuate from the mech and then the game woulnd't progress. The mecha at the "speedway" took damage only when the scrolling stopped. The final battle was easy. I destroyed all the "parts" before going for the head. If u wanna see or make suggestions please tell me. Bah, I'm submitting it. see it for yourself.

Hmm, when I open my Actraiser (E) rom I don't need to complete the game first. I can choose eighter Story Mode or Action Mode... and I don't have any saves or anything before that.

This game was just too easy. Once you get that spinning jump slash for Zero (I think it's from Grizzy Slash..) All the bosses can be defeated with that more faster than any other attack. even if the boss is weak against it. And the basic saber combo deals way too much damage too. Only thing about this game is last Sigma form. I think it's the most difficult Sigma form in all X games. I had some trouble with it when I played this on PSX :T
