I hadn't thought of that. I honestly didn't take the slots into account much...I guess I probably should've :( I'm not sure if this game can be easily hex-edited, but I'll give it a shot later. It's not like any judges will be scrambling to accept this, anyway. edit: I tried it out, and no matter when I hit L (the slot-stop button) I always get Pinky. The slots are definitely luck-manipulable beyond that, but that's a whole can of worms I don't have the ability nor patience to open.

Firstly, Altered Beast was the pre-Sonic Genesis/Mega Drive pack-in game. I imagine the Genesis/Mega Drive leveled with the Master System in terms of popularity before Sonic came out, and the game blows, so I don't imagine it did too well after it was sold standalone. Secondly, Castlevania games are usually given short manufacture/distribution periods, so there might not have been enough of SotN produced to hit a top-selling list. Though as mentioned, it was a Greatest Hits game, so regard everything I just said as a huge waste of time.

Apologies for bumping this ridiculously old topic, but it's pretty much the most appropriate place to ask: If there was indeed an avi of this run, could it in any way be made available? I searched extensively for it, but only found videos of Morimoto's Rockman 2 run.

http://thepowerofsneeze.com/emupackages/ Even if you've already compiled them yourself, here's some deb packages so you don't have to do it again (at least until new versions come along). Packages for FCEU 0.98.15 (it reports itself as .13, but it's really .15 to my knowledge), Snes9x-1.43-dehacked-improvement7, Gens 2.12a (grrl svn) and ZSNES 1.51 are avaiable. My bandwidth is fairly limited, so if these work (they did for me and they're very simple packages, so there's no reason why they shouldn't), could these perhaps be hosted by tasvideos along with some linkage on the emulator homepages page? It's not fun patching, removing certain characters from certain files and sifting through mountains of dependencies just to be able to TAS, even if the former two are simple copy and paste operations (I ended up wiping out my Applications/ directory just because I forgot to change from /home/mushroom to FCEU's source folder before removing the Windows-specific characters). Also let me know if any of these are ridiculously outdated or if something else is wrong and I just didn't scrub the forums enough for a better version.

holy jesus this is the most pathetic argument I've ever seen if implied animal-fucking was even a valid issue, the gender of the animals is irrelevant, because there is no genetalia. In case you didn't know, if it were a male and female bear fucking, it would look exactly the same. Furthermore, no one will give a shit. The audience for these movies won't be horribly offended by anything in this run, and if the goal is to get a wider audience, this run would be far down on the list of runs to download by the time TASes go mainstream, providing that they ever do and if this run isn't obsoleted by then. I understand that this is bisqwit's site and he gets full control of the content in any event, and I do believe that FODA was a bit overzealous in pointing out the features in question, but seriously, you're blowing this way, way way out of proportion.

I would think that the MKII run is way less suitable for children than some harmless, merely implied animal-fucking. I mean, in MKII you can slice a person in half, vertically (and through genetalia, I'm sure). Here all you see is bears humping. Whether it's the player's or the game's fault "explicit" content is displayed is irrelevant; it's still there. This kept my attention, so yes vote.

It's less about it being arbitrary and more about the restriction just not showing off anything horribly interesting, at least nothing more interesting than what's in the current 120-star run. The small-mario SMW run did, because nearly every level's strategy had to be rethought. Avoiding coins, cannons and caps, while eliminating nearly half of the total number of stars that are possible to get, still leaves very much the same exact strategy for the ones that are possible to get.

Yes vote, for reasons already expressed. On a side-note, if you forget to enable up+down/left+right, mario just beats star world 3 for the remainder of the movie. Or at least I think he does, I was fast-forwarding to see if anything else was going to happen.
