I, for one, am in favor of a "no glitches" category.
Think about the S3&K speedrun for example. There is little to nothing to see in Ice Cap and in Carnival Night, because of the glitch used to skip those zones. While that can be good in the "beat the game as fast as possible" department, it's not a demonstration of "how well can you play that game", but rather of "how well you know how to fuck it up".
That's entertaining and all, it's cool to see programming flaws exploited in this way, but I'd vote yes to a TAS that plays Ice Cap as it was intended to.
Sure, this is arbitrary and gives space to discussion, but that's what forums and WIPs are for.
100% completions always have a special feeling to me, which is why I love the SM64 run with 120 stars, the S3&K run with all the emeralds, etc.
A sticky in the general forum. Like: "Important! Before asking questions, please read the FAQ".
Then post an extract of the FAQs and a link in that thread and lock it.
Most of the torrents on this site have been really slow for me as well, so I guess it's not a problem with his client.
Only the most recent movies have a decent download speed, which is why I felt the urge to mirror everything asap.
The one I uploaded went through fine, and I filled in all the description and so on.
BUT -- it says that it's not public yet, and after it decided to auto-pick a "cinepack" format for some reasons, this warning appeared:
"NOTE: Your item is in the process of being derived and you may not change file formats (and/or other file information) at this time now. Thus, we are not displaying the file information in this section here like we would normally do. All the other item details editing on this form may be submitted at this time. However, please note your submitted changes will *not* take effect until your item has finished deriving. To change file format and other file information, please try this page again later after your item has finished deriving."
I don't get this, are they re-encoding it?
edit: ok, it works, but you already know it

Anyway, I'm currently FTP'ing the biggest movie I have (Super Mario 64 with 120 stars, 282207804 bytes) as a test (also because I couldn't upload it on Rapidshare since it's bigger than 200 megabytes). Will be done in ~25 minutes and I'll edit this post and PM you.
I have a very good upstream, but I don't have an account on archive.org, I tried to read about it in the FAQ but it's so complicated...
I'm willing to do that if someone gives me a nudge in the right direction :)
Since no one gave me feedback about the mirrors I set up, I guess there's nothing else I can do here. Sorry for all this mess, I was just trying to contribute.
On a related note, I'm still trying to download the AVI for Knuckles' Chaotix since a couple of weeks ago but I keep on getting no peers.
Now I really wish that someone else uploaded it on Rapidshare :(
I couldn't download yours because of the place where you uploaded it, and I was misled by the fact that you said "preliminary" so I thought you still were working on it. My fault, and I apologise.
I am trying to make a "serious" encode of this with TAS logo and all. I will edit this post later with a link, I just wanted to let you know.
edit:

As I said, this is a "serious" encoding, with the TAS logo and the on-screen stats, and I candidate it for publication, so if the movie gets published, and if I was allowed to take the liberty to encode it, feel free to use this as is. Otherwise I'll take it down, no worries :)
No, he hates me because I leaked a private beta of Sonic 1 Megamix, a hack on which he was working. He made that clear several times also on the #retro irc channel.
I won't until I hear back from Bisqwit, because of this:
Bisqwit said he won't add a link on the main movie pages, but this can't prevent mirrors from being posted in the forum pages, this is something that always happened, including both mirrors and youtube links. However, in this particular case, since I'd need to do a "mini postwhoring session" of more than 20 messages, I thought it was better if I asked.
I don't think so, but since you're still being a pussy over the Megamix episode I deleted your movies from Rapidshare because I don't like to see people crying over nothing.
Seriously, what's the big deal with you? I'm trying to help here. And I wish I could help more, but people like you are preventing people who can't use torrents to get the movies.
I have nothing against you, and I always thought your TASes to be amongst the best ones (check the rates I gave if you don't believe me), now you're just randomly hating me. And I can see where this is going to go, you are a respected big wig, I am the newbie, everyone will kiss your ass, I will get banned. Life is wonderful.
Anyway, would I be allowed to post those links in the "published movies" forum, in the relevant threads? Since a link on the main page isn't going to come...
Oh ok now that makes sense, good luck on your movie, I love Wario Land!
Will you go for 100% treasures too? At least it would add some variety, otherwise the whole movie would be a continuous "fly with the flying cap"...
You know what would be cool? Collect all the treasures AND enough coins to end exactly at 99999 without overflowing it :D
And I know it was already suggested, I was just supporting it.
I just noticed something! Overtop, just like a good 99% of other arcade games, stores the high scores.
If this movie doesn't play correctly for you (it stays stuck on the title screen without doing anything), it means that the "memory card" for Overtop wasn't created yet. Reset it once and play it again to fix this problem.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Anyway the lack of responses saddens me, if no one is interested I won't make other TASes :(
This time I tried harder compared to my Snow Bros TAS, I actually used the frame advance mode!
I just found a little bug in the AVI output.
If you press TAB to speed up the playback, the video will be alright in the AVI, but the audio will sound like the speeded up version.
