Voting no: overall optimization needs work; doesn't make use of known techniques; uses an obsolete emulator that is known to emulate X2 poorly; and has too many conflicting goals in one run.

The run looks good but it doesn't add anything of entertainment value that "low%, best ending" doesn't already have, so I don't think it has a place on the site. I'm also a little puzzled on why people are still TASing this game on 1.43 when it's pretty clear that 1.51+ emulates X2 much more accurately (lag emulation allows extra glitches that work on console). Maybe there's a perfectly reasonable explanation, but I hope it's not just "the old runs are on 1.43 so it's easier to compare". Hopefully the inevitable huge any% X2 improvement will break the cycle.

As previously mentioned, it works like a charm with LAVFilters (using it with MPC-HC x64), but I haven't noticed the CPU usage issue mentioned earlier. I'm at 7-9% with my CPU auto-clocked (SpeedStep) down to minimum. The quality looked superb to me, and I see no problem at all with this going prime time as soon as a couple popular players are updated to support it (such as MPC-HC's internal H264 and VLC). Though, to be honest, that might not even be necessary as most people who can't be bothered to install 1 piece of software to support it would probably be content with the streaming options.

There are a couple of recent(?) discoveries that should be known to anyone planning (or already secretly working) to improve either Mega Man X2 run. I wasn't sure if these were commonly known but I asked a couple of people on IRC and it sounds like most people don't know about them yet, so I'm posting here to make sure nobody misses them: Crystal Snail miniboss skip using S. Burner and arm parts only -- see edit below for low% (snes9x 1.51 smv, I typo'd on the microstorage comment) On the walkway leading up to the miniboss, simply do a dash into a charged s. burner. There's a fairly large window of opportunity to execute it. This does NOT work on 1.43 but it works on 1.5x and (importantly) it works on console. Double jump with arm and leg parts (snes9x 1.51 smv) When you've obtained arm and leg parts, you can perform a double jump like this: fully charge your buster (release fire at some point before or during the trick, you need the stored charge for this), then do a non-dash jump, followed by an air-dash, then press fire and jump at the same time and you'll jump again from mid-air. This can also be performed off of a (non-dash) wall jump. This works on all snes9x versions and on console. (smv's using Mega Man X 2 (U) [!].smc) Major edit: It's also possible to skip the crystal snail miniboss in a low% run with s.burner by firing an s. burner along the ground while dashing.

Is this project still alive? This is my favorite game in the series and I love the published run, can't wait to see what you do with it this time.
