Well, I'd played Pokemon Green, but playing for fun isn't the same as a TAS play... Anyhow, with the Steal code you won't have probs knowing which item you'll get...
There are also codes for knowing which item is in which position, but testing out isn't to hard, so I haven't included...
Also I think I found another interesting memory address, 7E384E. I haven't worked with it, but it looks like it's the # of command, both yours & enemies... 1 is attack & 4 is special for enemies & left command of yours...
If any of you 2 (Tilus & Bob A) wanna know something, just post or PM me, & I'll be glad to help ^.^ (Also, I connect now from time to time on the IRC channel, so you can see me there as Samurai...)
BTW, seems that if you enter a fight any frame later or earlier, everything can change (luck manipulation), so if you mess it on the run, you're aware you'll have a hard time editing it... (It would be better to redo fights instead)...
Just curious, does any of you 2 knows Japanese? Because it would be certanly hard to get, for example, the item you wanna steal or learn blue spells or equip/use items... I was thinking on looking for the memory address, so you don't have to guess. Currently I'd found 2 values that behaves like the item you're going to steal, though you can't steal a different item if you use cheats...
Well, the only complete run is mine... Since it uses the patch (w/o mentioning that it doesn't include the 1st 17 minutes :P) it won't be published. If you haven't seen it yet, just check the link on my siggy...
I have a question, why do you need to trigger the blue chest in each floor?
Shouldn't sometimes be faster (and easier) to find a floor that has the stairs near to skip that floor & continue with the next one?
I have some requests about this useful feature...
Could it be possible to make running the game while you observe the memory address? (Like VBA's memory address window...). This would be useful if you don't know how will something behave, BUT then you compare 2 (or more) save states & observe which values changes, then you can experiment with this values...
Something similar could be done if you add in the search value the function to compare both old & current values, then remove the ones that are the same, to reduce the list...
Also, could it be possible to add another box where you can insert directly an address that you know? (instead of looking into the list & looki for it...)
At last, could it be possible to add a function to remove specific observed address values? Like a window that shows the current values, then you can choose which one to remove... This is because sometimes you add some addresses that you think helps & some may & others may not help, then you would have remove all of them & add again the usefuls...
Thanks for the page bisqwit :) (Didn't knew this could be done...)
Changes siggy...
Edit: Just found the memory address of enemies speed. Some are untested, but they shoud work IMO...
7E3DAB 1st enemy speed gauge
7E3DB6 2nd enemy speed gauge
7E3DC1 3rd enemy speed gauge
7E3DCC 4th enemy speed gauge
7E3DD7 5th enemy speed gauge
7E3DE2 6th enemy speed gauge
Starts at XX, then drops to 0 & the enemy will execute the attack.
Mmm, I just checked & you'll have to press either L or R (makes sense if you use the SNES controller...). Didn't found it before because I set both buttons in 1 key :P
SO, Command Set has to be changed to Short after all ;)
As for putting the link on my sig, perhaps. I was thinking on sending me a PM with the link (for my personal use), but though that it might be good to move it so new people see it, but they could just search...
Does anybody knows how can you change rows or defende if you change the settings Command Set to Short? I though it would save a pair of frames, but if you can't perform this 2 actions, then it's not worthy as you'll need them to manipulate luck...
Also, would it be good to move the Walkthru to the last page? (so that people can see it...)
Oh the 1st battle against Gigamesh, It's funny. But I think that you should skip learning Missile & using GP Toss would be faster :( (Just a though).
I though you were going to mention Galuf clonning bug or Galuf's solo fight against Exdeath. Those are also funny moments IMO... (I was originally going to Explode instead, but tested & using a Fenix Down was faster, which BTW only works if you have equipped the Bone Mail...)
Of course, but which is faster?
I see that there's really no porpuse on learning Explode, but I liked more the way that the SDA run does it, as it also gains exp, but skips the ribbon :S, though you can have 2 ribbons & the Bone Mail which avoids getting turned into a frog... (Plus you can't equip either with the Time Wizard, so it's not big deal...)
I already watched the whole run (but fast forwarded, so may had missed some stuff :P). I didn't liked most of the strats used on world 3 & Void, but what can be done he do if he can't control enemies attacks...
Also, in the final run, you can skip going to the Mirage Town, Catastroph doesn't always start with Earthquake ;)
For those who have seen the SDA video, which strats works better than the current ones?
For what I've seen, I like more who he levels up in the 1st world, but he doesn't get the Ribbon, which you would like to have for Halicarnas battle... (And that it increases your speed...)
Yea, I guess it should, but I intentionally stopped after Exdeath was clearly finished. In the final version, it must end after the command I guess...
You mean as blunders?
Well, I made some minor mistakes. I bought some items I intended to use, but didn't, taking more steps to reach some places. But they didn't slowed that much. Though they should be removed for the final version...
BTW, I think I found some memory address of the in-game hours & minutes, though I couldn't find any for the seconds. I already post them on the walkthru :)
Finally, I just beat the game :D. The in-game time is a little less than 3 hrs 23 minutes when I fight Exdeath (7 min less than I expected :D). Faris died in the battle & I didn't mind reviving her, nor manipulating luck to make Exdeath hit someone else that has an Elf Cape (Assuming it would evade the attack...)
Anyway, here's the last part of the WIP I made, enjoy it :)
BTW, I have a question, which ending is faster? I mean, who should live or die on the battle to get the fastest ending, or that doesn't matter?
Also, should I update the Walthru to match this movies? I guess so, but maybe there's something faster somewhere that I overlooked... I think you could avoid Lenna's skipping glitch & don't even enter to Mirage Town, but I was low in Fenix Downs. Maybe I should had bought some on World 2 & also bought some Holy Water for mixing porpuses instead of the last Lv up...
I'm glad you asked :)
It seems that the enemies groups are more or less predifined. The battle I learned the Goblin Punch appeared on the 2nd enemy encounter, so I had to use the forest to speed up the # of steps to trigger the fight, so I could battle as soon as I got to Tule ;)
I also saw that it seems that the enemies give you a predefined # which triggers the next fight. I had to fight the 2nd Ice Soldier because otherwise if I just continued advancing I would encounter more enemies than if hadn't the 2nd battle... (w/o mentioning that stealing a 2nd Mithril Sword boost the damage)
I had to do something similar at the Lonka ruins, I made a detour just to not encounter Hydra (or was it Hydora?). I could just had fought an extra battle in another room, but prefered to just gathered some treasures because I feel like to :P (not sure if I used any later though :P)
I just finished the World 2 WIP section, I had some troubles stealing the Dark Matters & learning Lv 2 Old, but you won't see that on the video, just a nice run :P.
I finished the World 2 in around 2 hrs 45 min of the in-game clock (I forgot to check the time before Exdeath, but it's almost 30 min ahead of my previous run, therefore I'll be close to 3 hrs 30 min when I get to Exdeath at the Void :D)
BTW, I want to hear some comments of the run (& the previous if possible). Sometimes it looks like I only talk to myself :P
hehe, I won't see everything in 1 sitting (plus I would forward all the dialogues). Besides what I want to see the most are the strats used in each boss... (like which jobs he used...)
Edit: On topic, here¡s the address of the Lv of the enemies:
7E2202 1st Enemy
7E222A 2nd Enemy
7E2282 3rd Enemy
7E22AA 4th Enemy
7E2302 5th Enemy
7E232A 6th Enemy
Well, as it's been mentioned before, running on the PS version is way faster, therefore you'll save more time at the begining, where in the SNES version you'll have to wait until you get the 1st tier of Jobs. (Though you also fight more constantly, but I think you can also avoid random fights on the world map...)
The in-game clock doesn't display the seconds, so isn't that precise to compare both runs. Which BTW, where does it mentions that? Also, even with the terrible loadings on the PS, I don't think those secs are added to the in-game clock, but I could be wrong... :P
Also, in the 1st world there's no much need for luck manipulation, maybe only for Blue Spells & triggering certain random fights, but that's not that hard since you most likely be able to save the game.
I'll will try to finish the movie this week ;), hope I don't have much Homework...
Edit: Does anyone know what do I need to do in Moogle's Forest in order to make that damn moggle you saved out of his house, in order to procede? I can provide a save state if need it...
save stateEdit 2: Never mind, I had to talk to the moogle. Though I don't know if I have to pick all the treasures, but they aren't bad :)
^ This has been mentioned, here's the quotes:
As for my run, though I'm using frame advance, I won't do it frame perfect BUT will try to do it on fights, changing jobs & using items.
This is for 2 reasons, I don't have much spare time to redo the same thing over & over to make it perfect (that's why it's a WIP) & reason #2 is that the movie wouldn't be submited because it use the patch (& I don't know a bit of Japanese, though I could overcome, but again don't have much time right now...)
If you think is remarcable, you should watch it bmgenji ;)
I'm trying to make the movie as if were the definitive, so I'm taking some time to manipulate random fights & shave some secs :)
I'm sure now that I can cut off at least 35 min from the walktru outline... (I already cutted 15 ;) ), so I estimate fighting Exdeath at the Void will be around 3 hrs 25 min, very close to the PS run :D
This is the next section of the WIP run
This time I wanted to do it a little more precise than in the last part (so I recorded fairly more, though wasn't that much I think, around +200 re-records from the other one :P). The movie starts from the Ancient Library & ends after beating the 1st world, in less than 1 hr, 45 min of in-game clock ;)
