Try it yourself. That's the fastest way to find out why I made those decisions. Thanks for showing interest in my runs, btw!

Sorry for the ignorance, but I think I missed something, never having played the game. In chapter 2, you stop to open a treasure chest with a cupie doll beanie baby and it doesn't look like you use it for anything - what's it for? Great run, despite being over an hour. It was still fun to watch :)
It's a snowman. It was used to freeze the Octopus boss in place in preparation for a massive yo-yo beating.

Quite a bit of dedication is going in this movie, which is admirable... It'll end up being one of my absolute favorites by the end, no doubt.

Excellent work overall. Very stylish, innovative, optimized and well presented with the explanations of all tricks/techniques used. .... and definitely entertaining. Phew. :)

Actually, the trilogy already *is* complete - there's already a Ninja Gaiden 2 run by Drew.
Thanks for the support, but that run looks like ass now. :) edit: and that's a solid yes vote as well. Very well executed and presented (explanations and such).

I didn't make any specific choice of music for the final level... in fact, I went in with the impression that the level opened with a specific tune, but changed only if you lost to Jaquio and had to start the level over.

Looks good so far. I was wondering where the time saving came from and now I feel a bit silly, but no matter. If I notice anything that would help I'll be sure to point it out. EDIT: here's a possible timesaver, you might have to check me on this though. I noticed that your method of getting the double/shadow was using the enemy to boost up to the ledge, do a jumping slash to get it, then continue on. However, check this ss: http://stickmen.dreyermachine.com/vile/ng1-1.png You could do a firewheel at this point to release the double/shadow without hitting the enemy, then use the enemy to boost up to the ledge. That way, you wouldn't have to do the jumping slash to grab it and you can refill the used ninja points before the boss.

http://www.doomworld.com/linguica/doomcovers/ The Alice in Chains rips are obvious, as well as a few others... some you'll have to decide for yourself, though.

I'm sure there are interested parties here, since some genesis games would be excellent choices for videos: Sonic series Streets of Rage series Vectorman series Contra Hard Corps Castlevania Bloodlines Rocket Knight Adventures Shinobi 3 Ristar and etc. In summation, bring it on. :)

The second speedrun for the game is now available, same place as before (planetquake's SDA). The new time is 51:09.

For whoever plans on having a go at this game when the right tools become available, check out these movies done by Paul Lucas: http://dl.fileplanet.com/dl/dl.asp?classicgaming/castlevania/emu/scv4-movies.zip NOTE - You'll need znes version .987a to run these movies. Also note the comments in the text file, because even during playback, random events can happen that didn't occur when the movie was recorded, resulting in desyncs. You may have to replay it a few times to get the desired result. [Edit by Bisqwit: Add "Super", thus making proper game name in the thread title.]

Here's two more ideas: 1. Any scene from the double dragon 2 movie where both guys super knee an enemy (near the end of 1-1 is such a scene). 2. The Quickman fight from Rockman 2.

Might as well get the more obvious stuff out of the way. Castlevania 4 Contra 3 Megaman X series Megaman 7 (and Rockman + Forte) Here's some other ideas: TMNT4 Super Ghouls and Ghosts Donkey Kong Country series Earthworm Jim series F-Zero Super Turrican (hey, it's a fast game)

For the sake of entertainment, I'd say don't use the pause trick. I thought that was the only problem with the first movie, even if it was faster.

You more than likely stumbled upon the room described here as the "Chris Houlihan Room," scroll down until you see the appropriate FAQ: Okay... go to www.gamefaqs.com , look up Legend of Zelda for the SNES, and find the appropriate FAQ... I can't be arsed to figure out this linking dilemma.

Andrey Budko's movies are a bit faster, all you need is to make video rips of them. Only episode 2 is missing, but I'm assuming it's on the way, since his episode 3 was quite recent. He made the current doom2 TAS record. http://geocities.com/e6y/doom.html

I'm positive it would, which is why I brought it up. This is an eye-opener in that regard... to be sure of any future glitches. It was just a coincidence that this one happened to be useful.

How disappointing. I don't much feel like improving it now, since I have no significant means of improving the time.
