Why still “plan”? Can’t wait to see a WIP.

Sorry, i kinda started making a wad for SRB2 (easier and harder than a TAS in some ways) that I haven't been working on the TAS. I'll get back to it after I'm done woth the wads :P
I quit TASing.

Amy@S2 is too hard to TAS. I have been trying to optimize EHZ1 loops for last 2 hours, but finished for today with no result.

that's a good think but, maybe it's in EHZ2 that you have to improve the loops, no? (for the fall)

Everytime you improve the part before the loops, you have to optimize them again. So, if now I am right before the loops, but ahead of my previous attempt, what should I do? :) And yes, EHZ2 needs loop optimization for being able to perform screw trick, as well. I already did that trick, but in wrong place (after the second screw in the row), which was useless, but proved it to be actually possible for Amy. Btw… I’ve found out why Amy performs boost in so weird looking style… Link to video

Sorry for posting again and again… This time I have to say that 14 seconds in EHZ1 are finally reached. I doubt that 13 seconds can be reached, but who knows, maybe it’s only the matter of some subpixel magic — just a few months ago I was sure that Sonic’s results cannot be beaten with Amy, now I begin to think that it’s Amy whose results (if properly TASed) cannot be beaten by Sonic. I wish someday I could beat Sonic in every single level of this game, but I am not sure if it’s possible or not — some tricks may be Sonic-only. So I’ll be able to prove that Sonic is not the fastest thing alive, and he cannot escape from his stupid gf ^^. For now I beat Sonic’s time in 2 levels from 3 TASed, which is, I beleive, a good start. The same words can be said about Sonic 3 and Amy, where Amy beats Sonic (according to the current published run) in many zones as well. Enjoy these seconds of many days of efforts… Link to video Dedicated to my friend Qwerty, miss progress in your projects, man

Thank you. I am not going to stop. At least because even that last run is still improveable (even if it’s hard to beleive). And, of course, because of my friends TASers, who inspire me. (upd) TASing EHZ1 again. 3 frames ahead. Not sure if such an improvement is worthy or not ;)

Made a TAS (yes, I'm returning) on Pana Der Hejhog. I made a TAS on this game about a year ago. I improved by 10 seconds. Link to video

It’s hard to describe in words how happy I am to see you back. So, it means that our old team is complete again :)

Yeah, it feels good to be back. As most people like to say, chose a path that you are good at and happy at. Unlike busting my ass to make Let's Play videos which quite frankly, nobody was watching.

I have a question... There are a lot and a lot of Sonic Hacks, not only on Sonic Retro, but some of them are Bad hacks, and the others are Good hacks... here is my question: How can we decide if a romhack is a Good one or not? (Which ones are good for TASing?)

It heavilly depends on what is the goal of your run. For example, if the goal is making a TASvideos submission, I guess, the hack should be in released state. It’s not a good idea to submit runs of beta/preview versions, because there is a huge possibility that your run will desync with a newer version and so will be «naturally» outdated. It’s also obvious that it’s not a good idea to submit hacks having ugly look. Not all romhackers are good at level design and other visual stuff. A good example of a poorly designed hack is this… There are also some hacks that allow you to cause horizontal underflow very early, in the very beginning of every single level (especially if they add some move allowing you to take a boost over 4096 sp/f). Obviously, the viewers will not enjoy a run which consists mainly from score countdowns. Also some hacks seem to be not ideally designed, but feature something extraordinary, something unique that cannot be found in original games. Someone may really enjoy them. In other words, if this got submitted, I would vote Yes :) You may want to see this as well… http://tasvideos.org/MovieRules.html#GameMustBeReal http://tasvideos.org/Guidelines.html#Planning

Have any of you guys been following Sonic 2 Heroes? I haven't seen a WIP of that game at all in here.

Qwerty and LTRP worked on Sonic Classic Heroes, which includes S2 levels, but the game was often updated and they always got desyncs, hence they do not TAS it anymore.

That's why we prefer wait for the final version (mainly WST, aren't you?) to do a Full TAS of the game, BUT, the romhacker who make the game is MarzoJr, so, we can also expect a run by himself...

I am not much interested in Sonic Classic Heroes myself (I would enjoy a TAS of it made by someone else), I prefer focusing on hacks featuring Amy. Btw, should we consider hacks like Pana Der Hejhog or Sonic the Hedgehog Tribute good or bad? They are very short, but they feature exceptional quality of visual art… I beleive, it’s a rare case when romhackers make the game look even more beautiful than Sega did.

Hmm, yeah, would be nice to play as Amy in SCH, but the fact that the developer is marzojr (not E-122-Psi), may mean that Amy’s abilities in SCH will heavilly differ from those I addicted to. Did he ever say that he would give her the same abilities as E-122-Psi? :) But, of course, my wish is to preserve abilities, and I told marzojr my wish.

This guy becomes boring. He steals TASes and claims that they are made by him. It’s clearly visible, even without watching the original runs, that those TASes are so different in terms of optimization level, that they cannot come from one person. Also he suggested me a battle, I should send my TAS to him, and he would give me points, depending on how fast my run is… Does he really think that he has enough knowledge to rate TASes, if he uploads very well and very poorly made runs alltogether?

Wow, he stole my work. I asked him to delete all of the copyrighted material, or I'll flag them and have his account suspended. I'm not a fan of people proclaiming what's theirs and in reality it isn't.

He's probably looking to steal some of your TAS stuff from whatever file you send him, just like he took some of LTRP's work.

I have to say, that hack seems terrible to me. But, that's just me. If you want to run it, go right ahead. I feel that the need to collect those chaos emeralds detracts from the game's overall experience. As does the emerald collection sound strewn all over.
