The latest discussions (in the SM64 thread in particular) sparked an idea for me. What if we split the latest publications front page module and subsequent RSS feeds into New Publications and Obsoletions? Those like mz who aren't interested in improvements can safely ignore the obsoletions if they choose, and it might make for a more tidy organizational scheme. Discuss & Vote.

On a usefullness scale of 0-100, where 0 is really useless and 100 is some super mega necessary change, this scores right around 2. Not exactly a bad idea, just almost completely unnecessary.

Went ahead and voted no to not potentially make life easier for mz.

Umm...You know, If there are people (mz) that hate seeing small improvements published, Then they could just ignore it. So why split the publications into two parts if nobody will even bother about the publication anyway?

Take my Meh vote, I don't really care how it goes either way.

I'd like to revise my rating from 2 to 0.2, and note that anyone seriously voting Yes or No here is lying and/or is stupid. It's just so very and completely meh and won't make an iota of difference to anyone, including mz.

Haters gonna hate, complainers gonna complain. I doubt this would make anyone happy, or unhappy for that matter. So
I agree with Fabian

This sound like a good idea to me. I don't see why it would bother anyone, and it makes it much easier to find new games/categories.

You don't understand the problem. :D How can I know if it's a small improvement before watching it? These two submissions have the same time improvement over the previous version: http://tasvideos.org/1599S.html http://tasvideos.org/2873S.html One of them is a masterpiece; the other one looks very similar to the previous 12 versions.
You're just fucking stupid, everyone hates you, sorry to tell you the truth. no one likes you, you're someone pretentious and TASes only to be on speed game, but don't have any hope, you won't get there.

Note: this idea of mine would not help you in deciphering this.

I know. Maybe I should add a note to my post stating that the first part is about your idea, and the second part is just a reply to Sonikkustar...

I voted meh, but I applaud the proactive response to criticism.

Its good that the introduction of animal sex classifies something as a masterpiece. Do you consider Bloodhound Gang's 'Bad Touch' to be an opus magnum?

I just want to note, for anybody who cares (I know that Fabian doesn't care, although he's reading this post), that I *do like* significant improvements, like everybody else. The difference is in what people consider significant. Most people enjoy these SM64/SM3/Sonic constant improvements, and other people (like me), think they're not notable enough to keep publishing them so often (13 versions of practically the same movie doesn't really sound like fun to me.) This idea by adelikat is not (directly) related to that problem; but I think it's a good one and can't see the harm in implementing it...

Is animal sex everything that people can see in that movie? When you watch Persona you can only see two hot women talking about sex and a huge penis at the beginning of the film?

What problem is there to understand about? All I see is a guy being anst about a run that took 2 years to make and claiming that the game been showing up on the workbench to frequently. Honestly, This doesnt make any sense.

Yeah, that's pretty much the problem. But it's not 2 years, it's 2 years. 2 fucking years to make. Obvious Yes vote.

Wait, what is your problem now? Kyman and co. wanted to spend their two years making that SM64, and the community appreciated that effort. Who died and made you lord protector of TASVideos, assigner of how thyne TASers spend their time?

My post was a joke. Maybe you would have found it funnier if I had used a picture of a cat and some text like "THIS RUN TOOK 2 YEARS TO MAKE. YOUR ARGUMENT IS INVALID." or something.

I vote for this suggestion. Maybe, just maybe create 3 different categories. One for obsoletions only, one for new publications only, and one for obsoletions plus new publications, but that would please everyone, we can't have that at this site.

I have always been a big fan for classifying things into logical hierarchies, so this suggestion doesn't immediately sound like a bad idea. What concerns me, however, is how this change would affect the usability of the front page. If someone has the custom of glancing the front page of the website for a quick review of what's new, would this split make that harder or more inconvenient? Or could this split be designed so that it actually makes it easier to get an idea of what types of new publications there have been recently? Any ideas/suggestions what the front page would look like after the split?

Cookie-based (or db-based, since many people have accounts here) front page preference? Like, "what would you like to see? [x] obsoletion [x] new publication" Back to the original question, while I don't see the big need behind this idea, I have nothing against it, since it might help classify things in a better way. I am somehow between meh and yes.
