You have to burn the rope is a very hard game. You have to burn the rope. Played on DeSmuMe 0.9.6
This run
  • Aims to complete the game as quickly as possible
  • Abuses programming errors
  • Burns a rope

Comments

I used corner boosts and the "jumping of ledges" trick to complete the game faster.
This beats nitrogenesis' run by 1 second.

Flygon: Added YouTube module.
GabCM: Added another YouTube module.
GabCM: Added HQx download link.

FractalFusion: Claiming for judging.
FractalFusion: I think it is worthwhile to link to the other run, which received similar comments but was not judged.
The game is funny and all that, but like everyone mentioned, there is hardly any worthwhile gameplay. It's notable enough to go on Gruefood Delight, and I think it should. Unfortunately, I have to reject the run.

adelikat This submission was unrejected for consideration of publication to the Vault but the person doing so I don't think realized it was a hack and not eligible. Setting this back to rejected.
FractalFusion: Unrejecting again since it is a homebrew game (albeit a port of a PC game) and not a hack.

adelikat: Seems notable enough for the Vault. Accepting.

I'm happy your an encoder, but how else are you going to spend the rest of this day? Maybe encode a video? Maybe press refresh and read the topic again?

Well, k. I will do it, since it's only 28 seconds. But not now, I'm busy. In SD and HQx.

I don't feel that this TAS added much compared to watching a normal play through or playing it yourself... It wasn't very entertaining either... I'll have to vote No for game choice.

Funny submission! My only concern with this is that if this gets published people in the future will most probably refer to it when trying to make other submissions being accepted ("if TASVideos published 'You have to burn the rope!', then you should definitely publish this).

When I tested this game in NO$GBA, it crashed after the ending. Bad unstable homebrew.

Great job, Mro314, but I can't vote yes to this game in good conscience. I'm amused, but there's just not enough content, and the run is too similar to an unassisted run (sort of like the latest submission for Myst DS).
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. From the submission comments:
Shoutouts and thanks to mklip2001 for arguably being the nicest and most supportive person on the forums.

I still find this game amusing, though the mass axe spree turned me off. MEH.

Credits took most of the video, which greatly increased the entertainment value. Obligatory yes vote for amazing skill and endurance. Also, this run does utilize corner boosts, and is faster than real play. I think it is more worthy of publication than the speedrun at SDA...

this absolutely has to be published due to the irony of beating such an insanely short, easy, and boring game as fast as possible. making the credits 90% of the game. so I'm voting no.

The spam was annoying. The corner boosts were obvious.

I liked the axe spam, but I wish a few more variations were thrown in. Anyway this is awesome and a good TAS and preserves everything that makes the game itself amusing, and I think plenty of people will be happy to watch this instead of playing it themselves. Yes vote. EDIT: I also like how "Maybe watch a video" and "Maybe press refresh and start again" are now the same option.
