Jumping above zombies is "the same speed", but jumping above the book and going in a straight line in the crypt is slower than curving around? That doesn't make any sense. Also I was thinking of using the sword more on the zombies you avoid by curving around them, rather than anything else. Don't forget the tree trick in the graveyard when redoing the WIP! And I would still advise you to release it when it's done - that way you're kinda making sure you don't miss any timesavers.

Well, I was planning on trying to finish it before Christmas, which is why it's not the best thing ever, but I know that if I want it to be near perfect, then I'll have to take time with it, constantly redoing things over and over until I find the right optimal path, therefore the deadline has been dropped completely, and will be released when done, It will be released before February though most likely. Just a thing though to note: - Due to this being a free camera motion sandbox style 3D game, it is hard to completely optimize it, that's why it's taking so long really.

Be patient guys :p, I realize I'm slacking on it, but I'll get it finished soon enough, can't necessarily say when though.

Current news update 1) My computer failed and erased everything :p, but no worries, I heard that the new release of the emulator is coming out soon, so I'll wait until then to fully start it again (will be done very fast though, I have tons of free time now). And yeah, before anyone starts saying "You didn't back it up?!", well of course I did, but I've actually found a few "emu" fails, that arukAdo probably has fixed in the next release (which is coming soon) of PSCX, so I'll start over, though no worries, like I said, I'll do this fast, hopefully faster with the help of someone :). 2) Heh, I figured why not go ahead and start on MediEvil II while I wait? So currently downloading that at the moment, though I assure everyone who is reading this that the MediEvil 1 TAS (any%, and eventually 100%) will be done whenever the new version comes out, I'm absolutely excited I can do this now xD Proof:
arukAdo wrote: Recording had major bugs that are fixed in the incoming new release, lua got some fixes as well, but actually the whole software was overhaul and fixed. (we are speaking of hundreds of fixes here, easly) Sadly as i write this its not _totally_ ready, but if anything realy i would recommand to wait for it, your attempting a movie with 4cd and over 5 hours long, personnally i would not trust pcsx to do such a project. (its well know the cd changer code is fart) I can confirm already that the spu timing have changed, so old pcsx movies wont sync. f you are lucky enought, maybe youll be able to get back some of the old run by hexing (now movies are in text format also, thats allow easy hex). Dont ask me for a date on release tho, i realy have no idea, theres so many stuffs to fix it feel like theres no end. All i can say is its going to be _soon_ (less than a month).
So, like I said, with the new version of PCSX, the PSX TASing era can finally emerge fully (hopefully atleast), I'll be waiting, and that also probably means a jump at Spyro 2 as well for me, though until then I'll be finding out tricks for MediEvil 2 (it does have a somewhat different engine, so maybe different glitches? :p). And if anyone want's to help out (actually TAS it with me) for MediEvil 1, please inform me, it'd make this alot easier :).

Some time ago I went on a sequence break hunt for medievil 2 and I got to know that the engine is indeed very different from the one used in the first game. Eg. I wasn't able to get oob on any of the levels since those were guarded off by seemingly infinite, invisible walls. I found a way to actually ascend and, at a certain height, move along those "oob walls" in order to skip large chunks of like one or two levels. That and a couple of shortcuts resulting simply from clever movement is about all I could find. Then again, that was before I discovered the kbd and the inventory glitch - I wonder if hope that both work in medievil 2.

I'll be checking them out then, everything is ready to test. I'll also be trying to figure out skips or glitches that are different from the first game, though I've spent much more time on the first game, even before TAS'ing it, but I've beat the 2nd one a few times, so nothing to worry about. I'll edit this back after I test a few things.

I just bought this game with a place called Near Zero, kind of an Indoor Flea Market but with only a few people running the place, for $5. Hope to see the 100% TAS done one day so I can play it and complete it 100%. :3

For $5 D:? Hah I'd pay tons for this game (if mine ever broke, but it works fine) :]. But some news on this thing: - It will be done in the summer, most likey in June, this is a promise. - It won't be super perfect, but it will be well made and as perfect as I can get it. - I'm sure others could do better, perhaps saving a few seconds at max, especially if Groobo was to do this run :P. - It colors a dinosaur.... no really - I need a better computer :] - They'll be a teaser of the run around June the 2nd hopefully. This run would've been finished a long time ago, if I'd have some free time, But don't worry, in the summer I'll have tons of free time :) ... I'll start working on a level a day until I get to scarecrow fields, then start spending 2 days on certain levels, to really help out. I kinda feel like MrGrunz with his Zelda MM TAS.. Though not as much hype xD. I plan to reset my run and start over though, as I've found a few time savers here and there, and Pjm hasn't much support in movie editing (as far as I've been told). I mainly want to get MediEvil out of the way so I can go on with Spyro :] .. But I'll start keeping updates from now on on this thread.

Agreed, and PSXjin is the best emulator for PSX by far :)

I've tried asking in the forum in it's spot what kind of game support the Emulator will eventually have, but apparently even the creators of it don't know since they never answered me after more than two months. Hopefully it'll support more games than ePSXe and PCSX.

Uhm so far I think the only game it doesn't support is Bugs Bunny Lost in Time because according to Mothrayas, there is a cutscene freeze. There are probably a few other games, but all games I've tried worked. Edit: I've also started making more MediEvil videos (only 1 so far uploaded), but I'll get around to making better ones. My youtube account is now enabled to upload long videos, so I'll definitely be uploading a full game WIP soon.

Awesome, hehe. I'll have to try FF9 again, cause i know that one froze during one of the Black Waltz Cutscenes on ePSXe.

I'm pretty sure it is based off of PCSX. Games that do not work on that will not work with psxjin.

Groobo, since your like my MediEvil buddy here :P.. I'm sure this is something you'll be interested in looking at, though others can put in there opinions as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqh0KiZ6JAU And I'll put the description here: Alright, so I'm messing around with this level a lot, and I'm finding that you can get on the block at 0:22 .. But I'm finding that its possible to go further, I've done tricked the game into thinking I'm in a non out of bounds area (if you die in oob you automatically go back into the level), even though I really am! So, if I could get a little bit higher, I could possible make the game into thinking that I'm on the bridge, which means I can skip the Sleeping Village Level completely! We don't need the shadow artifact anyway so this is definitely worth looking into. -> If you want a better picture of where I'm at (you HAVE to use the camera cheat to look properly at this). http://i56.tinypic.com/dxmq7o.gif So i'll keep messing with it, and if I get any other info, i'll post back. Edit: I got onto the bridge, which was what i was wanting, but I DON'T want to be like in the middle of it :p, i want to be behind the wooden door where the exit trigger is xD, so I made myself clear! More edits: I've found ways to make the emulator crash and the game freeze with messing with values by doing things like: Make the music mute by imitating the cutscene that you usually see when you are about to normally finish this level, like against the guards at the exit trigger (Do this outside the bridge, so that you can kill yourself to get back into the levels boundaries). Then reenter the levels boundaries obviously :p, now enter the mayor's house and activate the switch to open the gate where the bridge is... After doing this, the game will start doing crazy things like: - freezing - crashing the emulator - making Dan move extremely slow - Houses sometimes freeze, sometimes they don't, when you enter them. - Talking to a gargoyle causes a crash. - Dying in anyway causes a crash. - Trying to pause the game results in a freeze. (Inventory not affected) - Jumping over water causes a freeze. - Hitting a switch (whether already activated or not), causes a freeze. - Walking around the center area where the fountain is causes freezes randomly. - Reading books causes a crash. - Turning the camera can sometimes cause a crash. I'm not 100% sure if this is only my computer's doing, it may be, but considering it's done this numerous times (testing it), I'm sure its either an emulator flaw or a crashing glitch.

I have begun working on a 100% tas. Here's what I have thus far. Link to video Link to video Not sure how good or bad it is, but this game is a huge pain to tas due to the games camera. Also, if anyone knows any unknown glitches, please post them. Here's the Shadow Artifact Skip, which I have found recently. Link to video It will save over a minute in a 100% run.

Alright, here's The Graveyard completed Link to video The tree trick took me over an hour to tas the first time, but I got it quickly the second time. Overall it looks pretty good, but the freaking camera is really annoying to deal with in a tas environment.

Just noticed this was being worked on. I love this game and I always wanted to see a 100% more than anything. Have you made any more progress? I'm not expert on this game, but from what I can tell what you have is pretty good. Compared to the published movie the movement is a lot less shaky.
