• Aims for fastest time of two players
  • Abuses programming errors in the game
  • Genre: adventure
  • Emulator FCEU 0.98.26
This movie has been planned for almost 3 years, but it is hard to control 2 players with the bug.So some time I think to abandon finishing it.- In the highway,I hit the last hammer robot 6 frames slowly to manipulate the appearance of the last robot so that saving 10 frames for this stage.
So there are some questions:
  • How many more enemies do you fight with 2 players than with 1 player?
Nearly 8/5.
  • How does boss HP change?
Boss's HP address 056F 1p's x-position 047E 1p's y-position 046C 2p's x-position 0480 2p's y-position 046E
The fight against the snow boss looks a little worse than the others? I have the same action and the same x/y position as the 1P movie. But no matter how I manipulate the luck. The snow boss and the red robot is the same motion. So the hitting method is different from the movie of 1P. In the snow boss's stage I keep the boss in the right so that I can hit two times for 3 hits combo. It can be faster than let it walking left, even its attack will cost a little overwhelming time that I cannot hit.
Because I like the music of this game.Even though using 2 players may appear more enemies and it may cost more time. But for the entertaining battle style,I really have an interest in trying it. So watch the movie, and you may see all of the words I want to say.

DarkKobold: Claimed for judging.

feos: Added YouTube module.

DarkKobold: The general consensus seems to be that this movie is sufficiently different from both the 4 player arcade version, and the 1-player NES version to warrant publication as a new category, without obsoleting the faster 1-player version, thus I am accepting this as a new "2-player" category.

feos, I'm finding that the googlecode link you gave for fceu 0.98.26 doesn't work. Also, this desyncs with 0.98.28 and 0.98.15 in the first stage. I'll check out the encode soon, if possible... I have intermittent internet connectivity right now.

I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! code.google.com This file has been deprecated. Another file would probably be better. Do you want to continue?
Click 'OK' & that's it. All works perfect. Other versions don't synch, yes. Copy of that version here: http://www.wikiupload.com/W9JYYB203WLCS8J

Slower than the 1-player movie. Two glitching turtles vs 1 is marginal in terms of entertainment value. And we have a 4 - player Arcade version that satisfies the multi-player aspect much better. I think this movie is redundant in all aspect so I vote no for publication
It's hard to look this good. My TAS projects

adelikat, while Baxter manipulated luck & glitch at once, hiting every enemy at the first possuble frame (frame perfection)... his run was more monotonous, because of seeing the same action all the time. But in this 2 player run it is more interesting, because of better diversity in behaviour. But yes, it is slower. So i have only one question: Are there more enemies now to defy? If no, then obvious 'No' i'm afraid.

I also manipulated luck and hit every enemy at the first possible frame. The question is the number of the enemies especially the 3 more robot mouses of each. Some bosses are different from 1 player just like the snow stage. For example,in the last stage, when I hit the red robot,my action is as the same as Baxter's movie. But the boss's action is different. But after a while it is changed,so I finish it successfully.
Do the work.

I believe, all that explainations should be in your submission text for better undersanding of things. Also, we may speak here about using the hardest difficulty, i think.

wicked: x2poet used an older emulator. A link to it is in the first post of this thread. After trying again, the download for FCEU 0.98.26 worked for me. Thanks again as well, feos, for the encode! It looks good. I really liked this run. It was a lot more entertaining to me than the single-player run. For instance, I liked how the two players kept the score pretty evenly matched throughout the game, taking turns killing enemies in sometimes non-obvious ways. The boss fights were great (though the fight against the snow boss looks a little worse than the others). When one player was doing most of the killing, the other had fairly good antics. This kept my attention much more than the 1-player run. I would prefer to have this movie on the site than the 1-player movie, even though any 2-player run is going to be longer. However, that probably goes against precedent behavior. I see what adelikat's saying about the 4-player Arcade run being a more fitting multiplayer run, but despite this version being called "The Arcade Game", I don't really feel like this NES version is enough like the arcade version to make this run unnecessary. With all that in mind, I'm voting Yes on this movie. Sorry if these thoughts are a bit scattered; I can write more about any one of these points if desired. EDIT: x2poet, do you think you could share the following information in the submission? It may help people decide the technical strength of this run.
  • How many more enemies do you fight with 2 players than with 1 player?
  • How does boss HP change?

I don't think the movie should be compared to the 4-player arcade TAS. The game feels quite different, and the gameplay certainly is. Glitching with 2 players adds some extra fun, and throughout the game the 2 turtles looked a lot more active and useful (not nearly as much just walking into the steady screen, waiting for it to scroll) than the 4 turtles in the arcade TAS (this might be because they had actually more to do, or due to the TASing method of recording all players at the same time vs recording them one by one). Either way, my point is, this TAS is very different, and entertaining in its own right. Compared to the 1 player TAS, I have to admit a second player adds more entertainment. A lot more is happening on screen, and there are some options to sync movements. Do I think this should obsolete the 1 player version? Not in the least bit. I spend a lot of time not just optimizing that TAS, but also making it as entertaining and varied as I possibly could with 1 player. It shows some things that aren't in this TAS, and is still the fastest completion of the game by some 3 minutes. Anyway, I found this movie very entertaining. Yes vote.

Ever since I would like to see the movie of 2 turtles's run by Baxter.I enjoy the style of Baxter's two players imagenation of motions and make less syncron of the two turtles' walking methods. By faster and manipulating method of one player, there can be found a lot of technologies. Then the 1 player version should not been obsoleted I think.

I agree everything with what Baxter said. I think this movie warrants a separate publication. Yes vote.
