After not receiving any comments on E-SWAT and playing around on After Burner (8 to 10 frames holding left to make the plane actually start turning left) ... I'm here playing Gain Ground on frame advance... and the current results are: Advantages: 1- The game itself is fast paced, depending on the warriors you choose, and getting from one side of the screen to another takes very little time for 60% of the classes. 2- Bosses never "blink", actually, no enemy blinks, I can shoot them all the way and all shots will count down on the enemy's HP (which is 40 on bosses, and 20 on sub-bosses) .. 3- Saving the actual strong warriors is currently taking little time with only 2 stages, when I'm actually going straight to the boss fights (the good point on having a stage select for the first 3 rounds) 4- I'm confident on my attempt on stage 3-4 \o\ Disadvantages: 1- Ok, I've heard complainings about this: 2 or 3 or even 4 frames holding a button to actually see the action happen.. when I'm shooting, I have to hold the button for a number of frames, release it for another number, and hold it again, which is kind of random, depending on the incredible amount of lags +_+ 2- Two players controlled at the same time, when I can't really see player 2's commands on the screen, ... it's not really a problem, just a .... disadvantage =P 3- I'm posting now because I'm not sure it's a good choice for a game, few people know it, and it's probably going to be 14 minutes or more in the final result, ... I've seen better, quicker Master System games being shot by the critics around here .... @___@ The current WIP, on the half of Stage 4-1 (Stages can only be jumped for the first 3 rounds) This is far from optimised, I'll only start the real deal after receiving a little feedback here ... +D Be gentle, it's my first try on TASes.... x.x EDIT: The second version, a complete one, goes for the ending. My tries of 3-4, 4-4, 5-6 and 5-8 are pretty impressive, actually, and 4-6 and 5-3 both look perfect Downs: 1- Of course I still need to plan where to lose the characters I didn't need for the rest of the game,.. missile guys especially =P 2- stages than can be improved: 4-2, throwing the bomb on the corner (hard to get a hit), 5-5, having less characters, .. and 5-9, with a better approach +_+ 3- used Dega 1.16 doze core, but I'm correcting this on the real deal version, will use MAME core for sure \o\

Hie man, I love this game, used to be the first one that I played on emulators at my comp, but I playied the sega version instead, would love to see it all done, you can count with my help if there is anything that I can do! this one should be a great contribution to the GG/MS movies
My main objective here is to TAS the most obscure games titles!

Watch the current WIP, that goes for the ending. (Runs on Dega 1.16 doze core) Well, this and E-SWAT were my first frame advance videos, and they probably look very amateur.. but I'm getting the picture here, and I can improve it a lot, especially when shooting =P I think the next step is watching the WIP and pointing errors, improvements and such, so, can you please help me with this? I will have time to start the TAS after carnival, around march 9, or 10 (being brazilian has this disadvantage) +_+

What's the difference between this and the Genesis version? (I would suggest doing this on the Genesis, personally)

The differences are: 1- Genesis version has slighted improved graphics, and one entirely different world (of 10 rounds); 2- SMS version has a "select stage option', which means I only have to fight the bosses for the first three worlds, Genesis would have 50 stages, while my route on SMS has only 25; (but this is still questionable, because maybe, just maybe, a 100% game would be wiser) 3- SMS divides the 20 characters between player 1 and player 2, in 10 different classes, while Gen has 20 different characters and both players can have a lot of them; 4- Gen has this Hard mode, which consists on the SMS cheat: you start with all characters - but! In Gen, you lose one, it's lost, unless you save him/her ... in SMS, the cheat consists on starting all stages with one of each class; 5 and most important- I grew up playing the SMS version, and know the procedures and most secrets, while on the Gen version, I would struggle against the unknown, and probably do a lousy TAS (this adds to 'I've been studying Dega and Gens 11a is a new world yet' =P Gain Ground consists on knowing all the random values, and predicting where the enemies will appear (which happens exactly at the point where the enemy number changes on screen) ... and ... there is much more to avoid on Gen version, as the enemies don't really have a limit number of shot in screen .... and we have.

Well, march 9 or 10, I will be definetely doing the first stage/s of this TAS, now that I know it's different enough comparing to Gen version, and it's a nice attempt to enrich the Master System TAS archive \o/

For now, I'm stuck on the first stage trying a new strategy, trying to fight the boss with both lancers and attempting to make all three die at the same time .... but I got a job and will have less time to the TAS for some weeks ... +_+

Here a topic is only dead, if there are no meaningful contributions to it anymore. Given the age of these movie files they were probably created with Dega, which is (according to http://tasvideos.org/EmulatorResources.html) deprecated and shouldn't be used anymore. You'll need to use BizHawk for creation of TASes for SMS games for now. For simple replay and study use an appropriate Dega version (whatever that is, I don't know).
All syllogisms have three parts, therefore this is not a syllogism.
