I can't beleive this hasn't been run, it would be perfect. I know you need to beat the game twice, but I am thinking you start the run from the beginning of the second run, or "expert mode." It wold be such an exciting run to watch, especially if many different weapons are used!

Thus far the submissions have proven to be decidedly unexciting to watch, though no fault of the authors. The game is pretty long and there are a great deal of slow moving or auto-scrolling levels. Playing the game twice-over doesn't help matters either.

Sadly the submissions aren't avi... But why can't they run this game just like Ghosts and Goblins for NES? They only played that game once. I figure you play the game once, then save and start from the begining of hard mode and beat it all only once.

Submitted movies have to be played from reset and have to run off of the original ROM. This means that you would have to load a savestate before you played the movie, which is strictly against the rules. No ifs ands or buts: if we allow this, we open a gate for cheating and editing.

Oh well... in that case maybe just a movie one one run on expert mode would suffice?

How feasible would a time attack for this game be? i know that once you "beat" the game, you must beat it again with the braclet . Is there a glitch that allows you to get the braclet in the first run through of the game? how long do you think this would take?

The game does have a level select code that (I think) can let you start out on the second half, which would probably be less boring.

Level select for this title can get you to the last boss immediately, which cuts the movie almost in half.

I always thought that codes, unless they were for aesthetic purposes only (i.e. the no-suit samus code for metroid), we not generally supposed to be used in time attacks.

I used to play this game a lot back in the days and I would really like to see a time attack on this. Anyways, in this case I don't see anything wrong with using the level code. This is because as mentioned, it would decrease the movie length and thus make it more interesting. Also, if I recall correct, it doesn't matter on which difficulty level you beat the second last boss (in order to start all over again in the quest for the bracelet). This means one could beat him on the easiest difficulty (for speed) and then automatically start at the first stage playing at the hardest difficulty. This would make it much shorter and probably more interesting. But that's just my thoughts. It is one of the harder games out there that I've played. I never managed to beat the second last boss with the bracelet, even though I fought him maybe 10 minutes before he completely destroyed my itchy underpants.

I agree to use the cheat code in order to start the second round faster. It's rather pointless to play the first half of the game. I do not want this as a general rule though, that it's allowed to use cheat codes. But in this perticular case I would be fine. Otherwise someone would have to use frame skip alot in order to see the proper ending, and thus kind of spoil the rest of the gameplay. To clearify above text: Use cheatcode to start at last boss (or second half of the game if possible)

I agree and I think the admins agree also with you. So who will attempt this run? I would love to see this being done faster than the current submission.

Since there is a level select code incorporated into the game, I'm sure an exception can be made for it. If only because you'd otherwise have to play through the levels twice. Would you use the sub-heading 'Uses Warps' or 'Uses Level Select' though?

what would be the best weapon to use? i think its fairly safe to say that unless getting hit will bump you to a ledge or something, the player will have the gold armor for most of the game, giving them a cool charge up ability. the only one i know of is the dagger charge up, becuase i always thought they were the fastest / most damaging item in the game. but the gay dragon charge up cant be the tactical weapon though.

Ya. The dagger should be the fastest, but it's not the most powerful. I think the lance is pretty powerful, and the fire maybe? But on the other hand they are pretty slow. And on yet another hand it might do little difference since the speed of the weapons shouldn't really matter until the bosses.

You'll have to work-in getting the Bracelet at some point as well. I'm not sure how often that drops throughout the second play, do you only have one chance to get it? Or can you pick it up before the final battle?

I think you can pick it up at any time. Maybe some luck manipulation or planning has to be done but as I remember it you can get it "whenever". So if some weapon is better until the second last boss I think one could go for that one. And this should be my 1000th post ;)
