Yes, but HP Plus is 8k each. Besides, you can only get up to HP +100% (2x HP) and that's with minimums of 2 materia at 50000 AP each, 3 materia at 30000/20000/20000, 4 materia at 10000/10000/20000/20000, or 5 materia at 10000. He could get a HP Plus from Rufus, but it would be sacrificing Cloud's attack power (due to missing Force Stealer). Even saving that, I really don't see the run getting enough money for HP Plus, enough AP to even level it up once, or enough base HP to have a character with more than half of 7777. The closest you could probably get would be with Cait Sith's 3-in-1 fusion, and if you're getting Slots you might as well use Joker Doom anyway.

correct, bump it to share their own unique genius and enlighten us all...
Also, he was referring to you =v Anyone who posts in a Playstation 1 TAS forum is going to be well aware of FF7 and will talk about it if they have something to say. There's an option to subscribe to the topic, so anyone using this is going to expect something worth reading when they click on their email. Please don't bump the topic without new information because it will just disappoint everyone.

Anyone found the RAM address for the RNG yet? Would love to play around with some luck manipulation.

Someone help this man please, it will be great for everyone. what's CS 3-1 fusion, and joker doom? So you can combine 3 character's HP to one? So you'd only need 2600HP*3 or so, also there's materia multiplying glitch. But, before worrying about that, how much time could 7777 actually save? And is the number 1111 significant to FFVII in anyway? What other glitches do people know about or have ideas for?

Please stop bumping to pretend to contribute to the topic. If you read the posts above, as pointed out kindly by another post you can only multiply your HP by double as maximum, and even if my theory worked you would still need to do a hell of a lot of grinding. 7777 will be of no use. Tifa and Slots are quicker even in practice. 1111 has no significance at all. At this stage practically all the timesavers have been planned, and just a matter of execution now. Good luck antd and others!

If that is your job then inspire by sharing new ideas, or producing WIP's. Tool assistance is also a circumstance where the handicapped can perform the superhuman in videogaming. I never knew you were handicapped. You might as well call me racist for shooting down the posts of a guy before I knew they were not the same creed as my own. Before this degenerates further.. I know you are excited about this as much as I and others are (it's a popular game) but please refrain from posting anything else unless you genuinely have something to contribute. Don't pretend you have, just to bump it or to encourage posting. Read the rules. You've been brought up on this several times before in the forums. If I have to get penalised here, fine. It's just there are enough pages with posts similar to this one I have made, or the ones you have made already. Anything from this point on I will only provide contribution based on tests.

i have found these for in-battle rng (critical hits, etc): 62E10 62E11 62E12 62E13 62E14 62E15 62E16 62E17 * 62E18 62E18 cycles 0 through 7, then the above addresses seem to correspond to 0 - 7. if the number is a 'critical number', then a critical will occur. this is only my idea though. i dont know how true it is. but this is not complete. there's another address that is responsible for criticals. i lost it, but im trying to find it again. here are the hit results when 62E18 and its corresponding look-up is locked: (trying an attack on each frame) http://pastebin.com/NXJcCgmF as you can see, most of the hits are criticals (>1000), but some arent. the pattern is the same though. i dont know how the 'other' address works. but i will try to work on it sometime.

Well for glitches.. I was thinking there's probably more than can be abused with frame precise use of the start button such as exploiting off by 1 errors in the programing. Maybe there's weird glitches with frame precise simultaneous deaths with status effects like poison and what not. Then the over world has some weird glitchy stuff like Cosmo Cayon skip and moving plane during landing; maybe you can combine that with frame precise "start button" tricks. In most games ever made, more so the to this day, when you're able to enter and exit a vehicle, there's way to exploit that. Then can't you get "pushed" slightly by stuff sometimes when walking around, maybe find a way to exploit that. pressing start the exact frame you pick up items. pressing start the exact frame you enter a movie having a special side event occur the exact frame you enter a movie overflowing the memory or gfx/sprites memory using WHATEVER means possible to get numbers into certain addresses that should never be there, like with OoT bottle glitch, maybe known glitches such as materia copying could help do this if can be utilized futher. save corruption frame precise viewing angle changes to gain 1 frame each view change or something of the like

So what is the plan for the run, noting the key things different from old runs? Was Cosmo Canyon skip ever confirmed to allow completion of game? and please say you've found a way faster solution than getting the garden ether, because I laid out great evidence that there should be many such solutions which was never disproven : )

Lol. It does seem that way doesn't it. I was just going to say that the reason probably is the complex luck manipulation, intricate planning and such, but VIII and IX seem to be progressing slightly faster, so I digress.

PCSX-rr has led to a desync that I've been unable to fix. The desync occurs in Cave of the Gi. I'm still planning the run with Brutalal and currently testing different strategies on the bosses. New things have been discovered that may allow for a faster time. It will certainly be more entertaining than the usual methods. I think it is better to test many things before starting the real run. The new things need to be tested thoroughly. Once all of the different boss strategies have been tested, I may have to start the run again using a better emulator. It's being carefully planned and worked on.

mind posting the planning ideas that are being tested and what has been worked out so far? What things are different now? Any new tricks discovered?

DarkKobold offered to take over. With my limited knowledge it appears the game is harder to manipulate. With the amount of work that went in at the beginning of FF8 I assume it will be some time before this large of a project is restarted.

Do you know this site ? : http://ff7.fr/ This is the only site who contain EVERITHING about FF7 : Bug, trick, complet solution, statistique, damage, monster pokedex, game system, objects... But... It's in french. So if you want a traductor, ask me or another french guy. This site can really be a big help for TASing.

So, the Battle RNG is located at 0x062E18 (RNGOffset), and uses addresses 0x062E10 to 0x062E17 (R[#]). The RNG is based off a look-up table (LUT). The RNG advances 1 step per use, and 1 step per 4 frames. How it works, is that RNGOffset increments 0-7, and takes the value of the LUT at (R[RNGOffset]). Then, both RNGOffset and R[RNGOffset] increment. The values of R[#] are randomized at the start of the battle. However, prediction of values should be pretty simple with a decent lua script. Interestingly, it appears that they attempted to do this in Final Fantasy 8 as well. In FF8, there is an RNGOffset at 0x000EEBB0, and the R[#] starts at 0x000EEBA8. As in FF7, all R[#] values are randomized at the start of the battle. HOWEVER, in FF8, RNGOffset is chosen at the start of the battle, and never changes. Thus, only one R[#] cycles. Given this info, my money is that they ported the RNG code directly, and then somehow screwed up the implementation, so, while RNGOffset was meant to change, it was a coder error that lead to the very non-randomness of FF8.
