Dooty's Comments

Another movie from 2004 is about to bite the dust, unless this one gets rejected of course. When I started this run, my main goal was just to reduce lag, but soon I found out that I have to rethink my strategy as it is not always possible and sometimes when it is, it wastes time instead of saving.

New Tricks

Bomb Boost

Bomberman can lay bombs at his feet and then walk over them, but after a certain point the bomb will eject him if he turns around, it's used to give him a small boost before he collects enough speed powerups.

Push-Block Bouncing

Not really a new trick as nitsuja already used it, but it was improved a little bit and now Bomberman can wrap-around the stage like a bomb, just find a place where there's no empty spaces and start bouncing.

Bounce Over Pits

Found and only used on stage 5-6, it's basically the push-block bouncing from nitsuja's run, but using the rotten floor to start. Unlike his trick, it's not possible to choose the direction.

Stage by Stage

There's 35 stages on this game, and explaining what I did in each one of them would take longer than it took to create the run, but I'll try to sum up what I did; It's possible to manipulate enemy movements, item placement and even which items will appear on the next stage by delaying the frame you enter the door on the current stage, it's also possible to manipulate enemy movements inside the stage but only the ones close to Bomberman. Most of nitsuja's strategies were used but on different places to take advantage of enemies or switches off screen. Same strategies on bosses too, but with an extra care on the lag counter to make them faster. The last hit was delivered sooner with the bomb wrap-around trick. Well, thats about it, I hope you enjoy.

Great. It's too bad this game lags so much (at least in this emulator), which cuts down on the amount of playaround you can do in boss fights, but it looks like you did as much as you could there. And this is a LOT faster overall. (By the way, you don't say which version of Snes9x you used, but it synced in Snes9x 1.43 v16 for me.)

Honestly, I found this pretty boring to watch. It's basically guaranteed acceptance since it's an improvement, but since I didn't care for it, I won't vote.

Thanks, it's now fixed. @ boct1584; Well, I must agree with you about the game being kinda boring... The single player mode of this game seems to be the most appropriated to TAS, but I, personally, prefer its multiplayer mode where the game really shines.

I liked this; It's an obvious improvement over the previous movie and you did pretty much all you could to make it entertaining. I voted yes.

Very nice. I find the first stage to be the most impressive, since you do an especially good job getting powerups quickly. Yes vote.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. Looks interesting, is there an encode on the way? Edit: Many thanks, Nahoc, this run was incredible, it just kept getting better as it went along. Wonderful game choice, Dooty, and a finely tased run, if I do say so myself!

finalserafin: Le mot que vous cherchez est "doubly". Translation for everyone else: The word you're looking for (in the French part) is "doubly", as in, "I am doubly impressed by what I have seen".

I liked the start of the run more than the end, but it was all good. One minor question: why do you spend so long on the title screen? (Will it not respond to starting earlier, or do you need to manipulate something?) Also, how does damage work in this game? You took quite a lot of hits with no obvious ill effect from doing so.

The same applies to me. I got asleep while watching this movie, but I won't vote meh or no on a movie which is going to be accepted nonetheless as an improvement, it's a clear case of bad game choice but it's too late now to rectify this, so I'm not voting on this one.

You can press up and down as soon as the title screen appears, but you must wait a few frames to be able to press start, it can't be avoided. about the damage, collecting a heart powerup gives you the opportunity to get one hit and survive, I use it to kill enemies or bosses faster. After the boss is defeated Bomberman is invincible and in this case taking damage reduces lag.

Vote yes and I think the frame of the bombs exploding is the best but the choice is dooty.
