Emulator used: PCSX v0.1.3
This runs is Faster at the latest nes run by 7 secondes but 19 secondes Lost at the beginning of the movie
Thinks to Shinryuu for his Megaman 6 runs

FractalFusion: Claimed for judging.
FractalFusion: While I think it would be nice to have versions of MM1-6 with instant weapon switching, I agree with numerous others that the quality is not up to par. If a better version was made, I think it would stand a good chance of being accepted. See the discussion thread for details.
I'm rejecting the run. Better luck next time.

Pretty sure you could save more than 7 seconds in game with the PSX version. Every time the NES version would switch weapons would save about a second each time due to instant weapon switching. Also, I hope you used the Navi Mode for the remixed music. EDIT: The description is wrong, it's actually over 30 seconds faster in-game. Clarification here.

Sure the PSX version has better music than the NES version, I'm not sure that a run with this version can be accepted. I think an octo-run is possible with a PS2 emulator.

I haven't watched this yet, but does the PSX version lag less too? If so, then a run on the PSX version is also going to be much faster, as well as easier to make. That would be another reason to prefer the original NES game to this port.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! According to time stamps, only if he watched it at 2x speed.

In general, it's a bad idea to cast a vote in the forum if you haven't watched a run. In fact, there was a prank or two in the forums to catch that very problem (search for the faster of two Kung Fu submissions by Deviance). However, it's perfectly fine to make a post saying "I like this idea" and "good job making a faster run". Until you've watched the run, though, you don't know if the run contains cheating or is sloppy-looking, etc.

There's no need to be so harsh; he simply doesn't understand the rules, and there's a language barrier too. You were much the same when you first started posting and submitting. As for this run, I'll wait on an encode.

this is true boct1584 must have been thick but I think he does not know this site right several times because he submitted no less, or see the videos on this site he has submitted the Adventure Island in 39:30.15 time is slower than it already has this site when I met him I knew all the videos and just did not know the rules and submit but do not blame him I'm also waiting for a road because it does not encode psx games to download and it takes so I will not give any votes yet.

I have done tests in some of the PSX games once, and unfortunately there's 1 frame of lag every time L or R is used to switch weapons. That means that an optimized run can't freely switch weapons the way Mega Man X games or Mega Man 10 can. A weapon would only be used if it saves more than a couple of frames, or if it's in the way of switching to another weapon which would be necessary later. So it wouldn't be as awesome as what we're used of seeing from MMX and MM10.

Okay, I have seen the movie. I have taken some notes while watching.
  • I saw you did use Navi Mode. Good. I like the remixed music.
  • I noticed you used autofire during the title and menu sequences. This is bad, because autofire is not always optimal.
  • I noticed you used the same route as Shinryuu. However, could it not have been faster starting at Flame Man? There's no charge glitch to worry about anymore, and Rush Jet Adapter could save quite a bit of time in Wind Man's stage.
  • In Wind Man's fight, you may have been able to fit in the uncharged shot optimally after a charged shot, rather than just right at the end.
  • Flame Man fight was not optimal. He could have been luck manipulated better so he doesn't jump.
  • From Blizzard Man's stage on, the instant weapon switching was already looking neat. I liked the use of Wind and Flame weapons.
  • Blizzard Man's fight was badly luck manipulated. You should have manipulated him so he doesn't use the roll attack.
  • I saw you use some unnecessary weapn switches in Plant Man's stage, especially after the boss fight. This causes unnecessary lag, slowing you down slightly. This also happened a couple times further on.
  • I may be wrong, but it looked like there were more waits in the spring section of Plant Man's stage than necessary.
  • You took very sloppy-looking damage at the end of Tomahawk's battle.
  • Knight Man fight also suffered from bad manipulation. It would be faster if he stayed on the ground rather than jumping high and you using Rush Jet to reach him.
  • Near the end of Centaur Man's stage, you used the bottom entrance for the boss fight. Isn't the top one faster in the PSX version because you could almost freely hover there? It would save one screen transition.
  • Centaur Man fight was another fight that had bad manipulation. You should have manipulated him to walk, not to teleport.
  • The Mettonger Z bossfight (Mr. X 3 stage) had a very sloppy looking ending. Couldn't you just hit him with a last power fist from the front?
  • There were noticable delays between some hits in the Mr. X fight.
  • Mechazaurus, the Wily 1 boss, again suffered from bad luck manipulation.
  • During the boss refights in Wily 3, I noticed luck manipulation was quite better for Knight Man and Centaur Man. Flame Man was better, but still had a large jump which wasted time. Blizzard Man was also good. You should have tried to beat them this quick while fighting them for the first time.
  • On Wily Machine 1 fight, there appeared to be an unnecessary delay on the final hit. Couldn't you hit him sooner and finish the first round earlier?
  • After the Wily Capsule fight, you had 4 Tomahawk Blades left. It would be faster if you used them on the Wily Machine right before that, rather than using Rush Power Adaptor.
Also of note: contrary to the description, this run is actually 00:09.72 (583 frames) faster than Shinryuu's TAS. That's including the start delay (which is about 1230 frames (00:20.50), so it is actually an improvement of 00:30.22 (1813 frames) over the NES run. All things considered, it's clear that there are some technical mistakes, but I think personally that the added entertainment from the instant weapon switching outshines the technical flaws in the TAS, and I think it deserves publication. I have no idea whether TASVideos will accept the run for either game choice or optimization issues, but I will vote yes for publication either way.

does that lag appears in the gamecube version as well?

Yeah... But by falling down, RockMan gets to slide across a few more tiles of ground rather than hovering over them at jumping speed!

I know that, but I'm pretty sure the extra sliding time won't make up for the 120 frames wasted by the screen transition. Also, here's an encode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-EOv7eeKnZo
