It probably isn't exactly related. Micro Machines is notorious as probably the hardest game to emulate properly on the NES, it requires pretty much perfect cycle accuracy.

Tested Fire Hawk again, still broken. I had just finished reimplementing DMC emulation in PocketNES, so that was one of the games I was testing out heavily until it worked. I had a half-working implementation that just barely not working until I had implemented the two rules below properly. I'll repeat my previous post, since old posts tend to get buried on flat paginated boards like Phpbb. Sorry if this is rude.
Two things about DMC emulation that affect this game: * When starting a new DMC sample (DMC length counter changes from 0 to something else): ** If DMC buffer is empty, DMC fetches the initial sample one CPU cycle later, decreasing the length counter by 1. (This may possibly coincide with the DMC channel doing a fetch anyway if its counters have run down, so it won't be two fetches if that happens, just one fetch) ** If DMC buffer is not empty, there is no immediate DMC fetch. DMC waits for the bit counter to tick to 0 before fetching the first sample and ticking down the length counter.

I asked zeromus about your post on Saturday, it wasn't ignored. (The same problem seems to affect other Codemasters games) He said something like he wants to re-write the audio anyway, so it's not worth fixing it now.

I can assure you that I actively follow every post here. You do not need to worry about them getting buried. If something did not get fixed, it was not out of neglect but simply that it wasn't prioritized, yet.

Battletoads shows a graphical glitch very similar to the one in Gradius II (perhaps the same?): This was on a verified good dump. Furthermore, Battletoads & Double Dragon: The Ultimate Team crashes after Abobo fully shows up: Again, this was on a verified good dump. In both cases, BizHawk 1.0.4a was used.

I know it is considered barely alpha right now but I was wondering if TAStudio is supported for any system other than NES? I was wondering because when I run it with a Sega Master System Game every time I press an input an error message pops up that has this message included. I didn't know if any or all of it was relavent so I simply copy-pasted the whole document. I have 1.0.4 because the download link for 1.0.4a is giving me a 404. The game is "World Games.sms" and is a 128 kb file uncompressed. I don't get the error when I try NES so I figured I would post this.

Lol, wrong link. It's not BizHawk_1.0.4a.zip, it's BizHawk-1.0.4a.zip. Anyway, SMS works good for TASStudio on my end. Maybe you could come on IRC and discuss.

The link on the Bizhawk Release History Page still has the one I said. I need to look into it again. I haven't tried basically since that day and I and am feeling burnt out from the NES games I am currently trying so a new Emulator/group of games could be refreshing.

Uh...for "Journey to Silius", my run and klmz's console-verified run doesn't sync at all in BizHawk. Interesting enough, both desync at different places.

I'm not sure what the exact state of the release is, but TAStudio should be working for other systems on the current trunk. I also recently fixed an issue for atari 2600. There are plenty of features that are either missing or don't work properly. Let me know or log an issue and hopefully I can continue to make improvements. Also you can head to the #bizhawk IRC channel if you want more of a live discussion.

Not sure if this is a bug or not. However PCE-CD games seem to get random lag for some reason. It runs fine for a minute or two then suddenly lags. Not even particularity in that order.

I've tested several computers, both XP and Windows 7 and can not reproduce this. If I could, maybe I could fix it. You need to give me detailed steps as to how to make this happen.

These kinds of statements are not helpful. And you are free to use whatever emulator you like.

What do you mean by lag? Lag frames? Or the emulator hangs for a moment? If the latter, what are your computer specs?

Lag as in it suddenly just starts playing extremely slow, then suddenly plays fine at normal speed, then starts playing extremely slow again. As for specs AMD Phenom 9850 BLACK EDITION 2.5GHz Socket AM2+ 125W Quad-Core Processor HD985ZXAGHBOX With Heatsink and Fan Windows 7 32 Bit ATI HD4890 Video Card 1000W Power Supply ASUS M2N-SLI Motherboard

I can confirm that the console verified run does not sync and that BizHawk properly converts the .FCM file (Though this did expose an issue with my new .BKM to .FM2 Converter).

I can answer that one. These games use DMC sound. While Bizhawk beats out other rerecording emulators in CPU and PPU, the APU is lacking (check the accuracy tests). The DMC sound channel is the weakest part of the APU. What is probably happening is that some small bug in that channel is the result of the desync on a real console. While BizHawk is overall better than FCEUX, it is not yet better in this one area.

I just want to make it clear that you don't need to do this. I routinely browse this forum for issues to deal with. The DMC fix wasn't done on purpose because the whole APU is scheduled for an overhaul either way.

I do nothing different... let me see... I open BizDrops, choose a rom, (choosing to run a video is optional), then I click a menu, and click the screen,... it unpauses... or I change to chrome, change back to BizQuick, and it unpauses.. I downloaded it and put it in the same folder as Degas, ... can this be the problem? Or maybe... is there a version of Windows XP that can just skip steps on the emulator? Or.... what else .... I didn't find anything at the options that could be useful, my commands are: IJKL for arrows, Delete is button 1, End in button 2, Enter is the in-game pause, (and GG start) .... my frame-advancing key is ; ... which is three characters right to M ... "," and "." are quick-save and quick-load..... F8 is my pause button ... and F12 is screenshot .... can this be caused by any specific menu option, meaning it can be a key I didn't describe now?? @___@ It looks a little like some screens in some games can be advanced in less frames, which could mean all Master System movies are to be obsoleted given enough time... but to do my part I really need to fix this thing first x_x EDIT: Other details: - I always have Task Manager open while using the computer.. - I changed some extensions from TAS to MMV, MMV to TAS, TAS to BKM, BKM to TAS, to make movies appear and be tested... rare MMVs can be reproduced.. all BKM and TAS are compatible between each other - I put a Rewind option on F10 .. is there any bug reporting on this option? x.x - More specifically: Quick-save = Comma, Quick-load = Period, Frame-advance = Slash. - Options on View are all marked, except Display FPS, and Display Log Window... and video is 2x - On Configs->GUI it's marked Pauses when menu activated, Start paused, Save window position, Show menu in full screen, and Log window as console.. tried all others, no success. And oh yeah, it looks like another bug: I cannot change position of red lag count in italic,... my normal lag count is shown much below... >_> EDIT2: HEY O___o when I marked the one thing I really didn't want ... Run in background, it looks like all the problem stopped happening O__o

Finally, the key piece of information! You messed with a setting that affects when the emulator pauses and unpauses. This is a useful setting to mention! What is happening is that when "Run in background" is disabled, the emulator pauses when you leave. But the problem is that bizhawk assume it did the pausing, and unpauses it for you when you come back. Now that I know this is your problem. I will make sure it is fixed for the next release.
And oh yeah, it looks like another bug: I cannot change position of red lag count in italic,... my normal lag count is shown much below
Nice catch. Will fix this too EDIT: Fixed both of these issues, they will be in the next release (and next interim build)

Otherwise, now I can run the emulator with no more unpausing due to always leave 'Run in background' marked.... XD Tested continuing a TAS, the red lag count in italic sure is annoying with this chaging of positions ... so, ... when will it be released? +D

Is this the place to report inaccuracy emulation? I tried first nes rom, The Addams Family and saw line flickering at bottom right of play screen, it shouldn't be there.
Sorry to bump a 5 month old post but I did some research on this. While FCEUX does not have this graphical issue, BizHawk, Nestopia, and Nintendulator all have this. That leads me to think that this is an actual flaw in the game. I tried to look around on youtube but playthroughs of this game seem to be on an emulator. However, I will trust nestopia and nintendulator over FCEUX any day, so I suspect this to not be an emulation error.

Update: There is definitely a graphical glitch in the game itself as evidenced here: Adams Family on real HW It isn't exactly the same as what emulators do, but I think it is more correct that it is there than not.

M.U.L.E. game audio is not emulated properly. Select a character and the game should say, "Welcome (Color) (Race)" The door/ship sounds are also not working. FCUEX does emulate the sound properly. No rush to fix this. Just mentioning it. Also, the 50FPS on M.U.L.E. I reported earlier has been fixed.

Having just run the prerequisites installer, I get the following Windows error message following an immediate crash, running XP Pro SP3:
EventType : clr20r3 P1 : bizhawk.multiclient.exe P2 : 1.0.1.3169
P3 : 505f4621 P4 : bizhawk.multiclient P5 : 1.0.1.3169 P6 : 505f4621
P7 : 5ff P8 : 54 P9 : system.io.filenotfoundexception
I don't know how to get Windows to let me copy the full error report.
