Lethal Weapon for the SNES is one of many licensed titles to be made by Ocean Software. It's a Shooter/Platformer that constantly tests the player's endurance with swarms of enemies and puzzles.

Game objectives

  • Emulator used: Snes9X v 1.51
  • Aims for fastest time
  • Takes damage to save time
  • Uses death to save time..?
  • Abuse programmer errors and glitches

Comments

I just wanted to get the finishing polishes and other optimizations to get this movie to a better technical state.
  • Glitches Used: Double Shot(Fire two bullets at the expense of one by jumping right at the beginning moments of firing)
Bouncing(During the last frames of almost hitting ground press/hold jump, and you will jump again without the standing animation)
Jump Boost- Alternate Left to Right on a full vertical jump helps keep the acceleration. Discovered by Dooty
Gun Posing ( Not a glitch of use persay, but if you firing on the last frames of falling. The Player will hold his gun in the air)

Other comments

The Audience will enjoy seeing me go through the levels in a fast paced manner. They will also enjoy seeing the constant glitch abuse that makes the player look overpowered.
If there were to be more glitches found that could either skip a level or clip past the barriers. Then that's the only dramatic improvement I could suggest.
Special Thanks To Feos, Mklip, Fractal Fusion, Truncated - For Feedback and inspiration to finish.
Dooty- Help with optimizing the Movie and suggestions to improve the movies. If possible he should be given some of the player points if published. I owe him that much for his help.

feos: Fast encode.

DarkKobold: Judging.
FractalFusion: Judging.
FractalFusion: Good viewer response, and a well-done fourth submission of this game. Accepting for publication.
feos: Finally processing!

Fast encode... Watched it. Finally you make a superb thing. It may be imrovable by some seconds, but it would require rather hard work. And it is now DEFINITELY a pub worthy. After that's published, you can go to a pub.

Yes! This is way, way, better. You mow down lots of enemies and jump less on sticky ground. It's really funny to see how long the enemies delay before shooting, even when you're running right at them with a gun. Some pros of this movie: Stage 3 has kickass music. Early in Stage 4, you had some bits with awesome flamethrower dodging. The autofiring gun animation while rising in the fans was pretty cool too. I'm glad that I could still be inspirational with one or two comments. In any case, this definitely merits a Yes vote. Further improvements may be possible, but this really flows properly now.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. From the submission comments:
Shoutouts and thanks to mklip2001 for arguably being the nicest and most supportive person on the forums.

I've never played this game, so may I ask why half the time your character suddenly stops when landing after a jump?

Ah you must've not seen the previous submission. This game has some weird physics that on certain ground it resets your speed. Nothing really can be done about it other than doing it only if it has to be done or doing it on ground that will maintain your speed. That's why there is more shooting and running in this iteration.

I never thought a TAS of this game would be this fast. Good job, Cooljay, and yes vote for carnage everywhere.

Very nice run, Cooljay. This one is definitely publication-worthy. You kill lots of enemies and move quickly, the movements look optimized and the run has great pacing. This is the kind of TAS that belongs on this site. Yes vote.

Pretty unlikely, I followed all the creation process of this run, watching wips and testing strategies, and I can say that it is insanely optimized now.

Thought you might be interested to know that your original run of this game syncs all the way through on SNESHawk, but that this movie does not. I guess Snes9x 1.53 was more accurate.
All the best, Brandon Evans
