My 8th submission of 2012.
This is 22:58.48 faster than the previous movie by adelikat!
Everything is done faster in this version. I worked hard to walk in straight lines.
I think there should be 2 branches for Glover; any% and all-stages. This movie should not obsolete adelikat's.

Game objectives

  • Emulator used: Mupen64 0.5 re-recording v8
  • Aims for fastest time
  • Takes damage to save time
  • Uses a game-breaking glitches
  • Genre: Platformer

Comments

Fastest TAS I’ve ever done. Took me 2 days! I just couldn’t resist beating my old pal adelikat. Though, in my opinion, I think this is less entertaining than his run.

Tricks used in this run

  • By rapidly mashing the L button you go really fast.
  • At the very beginning you can move earlier by mashing the Z button.
  • You can clip directly to the boss room of every stage by using the crystal. This was found by Heeheex2 and Fenrikaz. Though, it was much harder to do with the barrier blocking the way, but it still turned out possible. I doubt this trick can be done on console.

Special thanks

  • Venick409: Gave me some advices throughout the TAS .
  • Heeheex2 and Fenrikaz : For finding the crystal clipping technique.
  • Kyman: Found a 3-frame faster crystal clip strat.

Enjoy!
(Note: the pause at the end of the movie is caused by mupen. It's garbage input.)

Nahoc: Added YT module.
adelikat: Setting to delayed on request of the author, as improvements are being looked into.
adelikat: Author requested that this no longer be delayed. Accepting for publication.
feos: Processing...

The encode should be up in about 80 minutes.

Isn't Frankenstein supposed to look like this: Anyway, I vote "meh" for entertainment. It's pretty much the same glitch repeated over and over again. The TAS itself is well done, however.

What a well hidden boss rush mode :D As someone who didn't play the game, I can't say I find it very entertaining to watch. But these glitches are still nice, and it's short enough... I'm really torn between meh and yes. ... Ok, seing a weird game being abused like that with all the glitches has some charm, let's put a shy "yes" on this run.

Yes, I used the wrong video plugin for the screenshots. But the encode is rendered with Glide, so it's fine.

Everyone should watch Adelikat's TAS first, it makes this movie so much easier to understand what about the game is being broken. Yes vote for unprecedented improvement to a N64 game . And yes, this means that an all stages run needs to be done.

Shouldn't an all stages run obselete adelikat's run? I feel they are too similar to co-exist.

Even tho this was a Boss only run I was entertainer enough to give it a yes. I wonder if an all stage can be as entertaining.

Great run! Despite this being fairly repetitive, I was still entertained (though I did skip though the loading times in the encode). Yes vote.

Holy shit it's here. If I could I would vote yes 1000000x (unfortunately I need like 5 posts to vote yes even once). Thank you so much for making this, I love you forever.

This is just me but I do think all levels/100% and any% would be good categories since this is basically a boss speedrun. I was entertained though and very shocked the game could be broken like that. Easy yes.

Setting this to "delayed" since Kyman re-did the barrier skip from above and saved 18 frames on the full movie, so far.

Seems legit.

It's been a week since Spikestuff asked. Nahoc, what's the story?

Actually, publish this as it is. The improvements are too much trouble to implement and it's only a 18-frame loss.
