Please give the award directly to [2021] GB The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening "playaround" by Bobmario511 in 40:22.78. Seriously, greatest play around ever. I could not stop laughing while watching. Also, I know the game inside out, and even helped with some of the planning, and yet I was still utterly stunned watching it. [2091] GB Super Mario Land by MUGG in 12:08.75 was also quite nice.

There has to be something said about [2187] GBC Pokémon: Yellow Version "arbitrary code execution" by bortreb in 12:51.87. Glitching a game to the point where a TASer can code and run a new program/game within? That has got to count for something.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

I don't think [2187] GBC Pokémon: Yellow Version "arbitrary code execution" by bortreb in 12:51.87 was anywhere near as good as [2021] GB The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening "playaround" by Bobmario511 in 40:22.78, but I also agree it should be on the list too.
On second thought, rewatching [2187] GBC Pokémon: Yellow Version "arbitrary code execution" by bortreb in 12:51.87, I'm removing my nomination approval for it. Sure it was great showing off how you can inject code like that into the game and make a new game. However, the first couple of minutes were barely watchable, and the payload could've been cleverer. Good for a glitchy movie, but not for what I would consider high ranking entertainment packed TAS of the year material.

I second this 100%.

My vote is for the Link's Awakening Playaround. The run is extremely entertaining, and breaks the game completely. This run is for everyone, as someone unfamiliar with the game is still easily able to identify the glitching that is going on, yet there are a lot of treats in the run for people who know the game well. The other movies are all great too, but I believe this is the GB(C) TAS of 2012.
