About the game

Chuck Rock is a SNES game released on 1992 by Core Design Limited,it looks like Joe & Mac or Super Advanture Island. In this game,I play with a rock human. He make advantures for saving his love because, she's kiddnaped by a dinosaur. And here,I've do a speedrun for doing that quickly

Stage by Stage Comments

There are 5 stages, each stage has 4 parts max or 2 min, then the boss

Stage 1

This is the only stage that has 4 parts. The first part look like the therd one and the second look like the fourth. No comments about the first 3 parts
In the last part,at start,I take the big rock then I throw it to the enemy for jumping higher. After that directy,I hit the filying dinosaur for he takes me to the other place. At finish of this part,I take damage with the green needles for jumping higher
For beating the boss,I need the small rock because I can't hit it with the kick hit or with the body

Stage 2

There are 3 parts
On the part 2,at start, the smallest rocks down respectively with a high speed and taking damage here can love a lot of time than waiting it down, and I found problems with the big hands,it suprise you then hit you.Taking damage here is the only way to save time
The boss is a sea-dog it's very easy to beat it

Stage 3

There are 2 parts, they are very long, and similar. It's an undersea stage and here taking damage can't lose any time, and help me for beating the boss

Stage 4

There are 3 parts.
I don't like this stage because I always take damage but the good thing here is the mamoth,I can use it like a spring for jumping higher and like a cannon for fliying with a high speed
I beat the boss with a kick hit

Stage 5

There are 2 parts.
First part is a dark place, the fliying dinosaur transform to a filying skeleton(Castlevania language). Second part...Sorry no caments, just watch the movie.
The final boss very easy to defeat it.

Final comments

Sorry if the comments about the run isn't good

Thanks for reading, all commants are wroted

feos: This run was submitted half year after snes9x 1.43 was deprecated. "You have until December 31 2012 23:59 GMT to complete any runs you have started using Snes9x, no exceptions will be made, unless you have been granted a continuance on your existing run." There were some exceptions though, but only for the runs that were extremely well received. This submission collected zero enjoyment posts and does not sync on BizHawk (bsnes core). Rejecting. Use lsnes or BizHawk next time.

Voting no because of emulator choice. SNES9x 1.43 has known audio issues: SNES9x vs. BizHawk (with bsnes core)

Just to make sure people stop submitting Snes9x runs, how about making the .SMV file format unsupported for the site?

That would cause issues with runs currently in progress that are approved to use snes9x. Not to mention, its deprecation status still isn't official yet. At least, not to the point where just the fact it's a SMV would automatically warrant rejection.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

http://tasvideos.org/Nach/Continuances.html Well, at least auto-cancel runs made with Snes9x that aren't in the above list. :P

Would it sync on BH?
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

This submission has a bucket of issues. It doesn't sync on BizHawk. It is 1.5 minute slower than the Genesis record. Its rerecord count is 6 times lower than that of the record. This game itself has higher Y speed that means you fall faster and need more jumps to get over spikes, it also has way longer screen transitions than the Genesis version. These make it very hard to compare the optimality between the 2 runs. But still, sometimes it looks like adelikat's starts were faster, like jumping on the spikes from the first dinosaur or ignoring the stone at frame 5560. McBobX, did you compare your work to [1660] Genesis Chuck Rock by adelikat in 08:51.43?

I disagree with this decision, even though I wasn't necessarily entertained by the run. In the post you reference Nach even says that he would like to make the rule but knows that there would be backlash and states that while it will be officially obsoleted eventually no hard date has been set yet, and it is only listed as Depreciated/Not Recommended which to me is vague enough to allow runs from the emulator. I especially disagree that exceptions were made for movies that more people enjoyed. If that is the case then it just sets up power users who can break the rules and still get runs accepted because they are popular. If you would like to reject for being sub-optimal as you implied two comments up and then make a note warning people to stop using snes9x that would be fine but until a new post is made in which it is officially cut off except for a specific list of exceptions that is publicly advertised I disagree with this choice.

I'm not aware of any exceptions to the rule being made other than those stated publicly in the continuances forum. A continuance was not made for this movie. Note: I'm not agreeing/disagreeing with any policy in this post. Simply pointing out that I think you are wrong in your assessment that "popular" movies have been unfairly handled in regards to the rule.

I wasn't sure of there any and haven't looked through the runs yet, I just assumed that as feos put

that he knew of runs where it happened. Though now that I look I can't find any run that was accepted despite the rule. My stance still stands until the depreciation thread is given an official date.

Not consciously it wasn't. At the time, we had >50 runs on the workbench, most of them very old, and the thing needed massive cleanup, and it looked really similar to a run listed in the continuance list. Honest mistake really. Since then, I've been editing the list to link to submissions/publications as they come in.
