Rayman Advance is an PSX adaptation of the known "Rayman" game. The history is. Mr.Dark has kidnapped the electoons. Rayman try to save them. Then at Space Mama, Mr.Dark kidnapps Betilla.
My WIPs (only last 3 levels not encoded) (separate in each level) are disponible on my channel: youtube.com/pokgot4n

Game objectives

  • Emulator used: VBA-rr 23.2
  • 100% or any% run. It's a 100% run because i took all cages but it's a any% because we need all cages in order to access final boss and credits.
  • Take damage to save time (Rare)

Glitches used;

  • Boosting Plums:
I think the first time I just get really close to it and hit it as often as I can. Normally though, you turn around for one frame so you face left when you hit the plum somehow, this gives it 25 in the other direction(founded by scrimpeh)
  • Moskito fighting stunlocking (because smaller screen of GBA):
Second one is exactly like first, just takes longer you can stunlock him just the same the tricky parts are the first and last hit on each that is slow, so you want him to get to that spot on his own last hit is similar, but the spot he staggers to is further upwards (founded by scrimpeh)
  • Wallbreach with maracas and plums:
For plums i don't really founded how.. just somehow it does that. For maracas. Find a thing to grab before getting wallbreached. Now push the maracas on the wall where you grab thing. Then you must land on the ground and on the maracas at exact frame. Which gonna make a little bit the maracas wallbreach. Then at the next wall you will wallbreach.(scrimpeh found)
Lums: Getting another speed. At a certain frame. Sometimes, lums give you a speed of 768 compared to 512 speed.(founded myself)
You will like: Bongo Hills, Moskito Nest, Pink Plants Woods
May be optisable by:
Bosses glitches.
Pixel optimisation
Sugggest Screenshot: Frame 20119

Q&A: 1.Q: Why choosing this game and not PSX or DOS version.
A: It has been tested. For PSX the game freezes at ubisoft logo. And DOS tas is not usable for R1 too.
2.Q: What was the hardest thing to TAS for you.
A:Plums. (violet thing in Moskito Nest, pink plants woods, anguish lagoon)
3.Q : Who wan't to thanks.
A: A thanks to: Dingodrole, coconou, Rayas, NilsTFK, p-why, lestatvampir and RealMyop and sorry for the other that i forget for encourage me. BUT A FREAKING GOOD THANKS to: Scrimpeh/scrimpy. Without him, i think my TAS would be like 5minutes more long. He helped me LOT LOT LOT LOT LOT. He explained me all the glitches he's founded!
Whoops, forgotten to thanks Matthias Franke, creator of Rayman Fanpage, for his PC map (only 2 cages on gba are not similar to PC) http://www.rayman-fanpage.de/cagemaps/allcages.htm

Noxxa: Removed overly long branch name. If "100%" is required for completion of the game, then "any%" implies 100% completion by default.
Noxxa: Judging.
Noxxa: Replaced submission file with a new version with unnecessary blank frames at the end removed. The new file is 155 frames shorter.
Noxxa: Replaced submission file again with a new version which successfully reaches the credits, and accepting for Moons.
feos: Grabbing for publication...
got4n: (not an encoder official) processing... Currently uploading this night encode on YouTube and MKV on Archives.org.

Will it be at tasvideoschannel and have deblink?
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

After you lay the final hit on Mr. Dark, input stops before the victory dance. To actually reach the credits though (after which the game resets) you have to press A to go through a series of pictures. I think TASVideos standards require you to actually reach the credits to count as completion. Also, I didn't see any areas where death abuse could be useful (other than maybe saving a couple seconds on a couple of cages) except, of course, for skipping Mr. Sax. Apparently you don't actually have to finish his level as long as you get all the cages, which is interesting.
Are you sure for Mr.Dark? I tried to do a bit input before it just run the start menu. Without pressing input the credits appears By the way, can someone update my file by spikestuff vbm (up), it's still my run he just removed the blank input last part.[/size]
It is. All you have to do is get all the cages in the stage before Mr sax, then kill your self, then go back to the map. It will still count all the cages, so you can still get to the last level.

Deblink means that you have applied an algorithm to remove the temporal artifacts that tend to happen when you reduce the framerate with an even factor while there is flickering/blinking at the same factor.

I don't think you have it set to be a "handheld" and the branch doesn't need to be there.

Good movie. I can't wait for the day when we'll be able to TAS the PC version, but this watered-down and terrible-sounding version of the game will have to do for now. In Pencil Pentathlon 1, did you check to see if it's faster to go to the checkpoint and then use a death-warp after breaking the first cage? That's something I always wanted to test.

Thanks, but I didn't checked in Pencil Pentathlon, but i'm currently optimizing, currently 400 frames ahead this run. The better is to add me on skype: got4n123

Ugh the music is horrific, but the stages were still good. Anyway you broke that game so hard some levels were unrecognisable. Fast Rayman is glitchy rayman. I haven't played the GBA version, only PC/PSX, so take some of these comments (especially pertaining to movement) with a grain of salt. TG1: Wouldn't it better to revisit it with the runner ability and getting the first two cages with it? I'm not sure the third cage is necessary, but just curious. Mr. Stone: Shame you didn't show his dancing :p PPW Revisit: level 2, why didn't you run at first at the top of the level? 33:08 in video. 33:59 not sure if you could have saved a frame or two by running right next to goal Mr. Sax: 4th cage, wouldn't it be better to stop yourself using the fist when you go down the slope to the 4th cage (small rayman) Mr. Sax Pre-battle: is 6 the max number of hits allowed on him? If it allows for more, you could've hit him up to 8 times. I know for certain the PC version allows 7, so I would see no reason for this not to happen unless Ubisoft coded it as such. EP1: 48:59, how come you didn't just crawl your way through once the blocking spike ball started bouncing? does it not allow you to? And right after it, I presume it is faster to hit it for the extra air boost than land and run? EP3: at 51:18, wasn't it possible to skip the dark toon and jump to the platform above? certainly it's possible on PSX iirc. Pirate Mama: that damage abuse is insane, I can't believe they disabled her invicibility like that. It's odd she DID have it on the penultimate knife cycle before you blew her away. PP1: In reply to CAD, I'm not sure if it is faster. Don't cages like these disappear if you die and you have to reactive their trigger again? If not, then certainly it would be faster to die after checkpointing. PP2: 55:55-6 not sure if faster to grab ledge, jump and then run or do what you did. Same in 56:23 (punching first should do the trick) and 57:25-6ish. PP2: Any reason why you didn't helicopter your way through all the pins? it seems faster than jumping and moving nearly one by one. SMC1: I'll ignore possible movement improvements, and ask if it's not possible to keep your running speed on those pencils. I know on PSX it's possible (I've done it in PP1 previously) so it's something to check. Space Mama: Not related to the run, but in the PC version you can hit her from the back to get a total of 5 hits during the first section with her, whereas PSX/GBA allows 4 (though with GBA you do get damage as well). EAJ2: Maybe the crawling part at 1:09:40 could be skipped if you didn't take damage before without the need to crawl? MDD2: 1:17:42 you could have jumped before and grabbed that ledge (or the one after it) and dropped down into the cloud trigger The only major disappointment is that you didn't skip both Mr. Sax and Skops. Is it not possible to in the GBA? Essentially for PSX/PC you death abuse to the start, go back to the level select and that's it. It keeps your cages as completed since that's the only requirement for Mr. Dark, not beating bosses. The run itself was fantastic. I loved many parts of it and the downtime showoff on many bosses. Improvement you say? looking towards the obsoletion!

So, TG1 : I don't tried Stone: sorry ^^' PPW: Revisit: Yeah , runned and it saved frames, and no it doesn't optimise by running next to goal Sax 4th cage: oh, this is great idea, I will try Mr sax Prebattle: I doesn't need to respond since I gonna skip it in the optimisation run EP1: We cannot crouch... EP3: May be, I will try on my new run PP2: Nope, it makes loses about 5-6 frames PP2: I get damage, and I get jmuping one by one on the first frame. But I will try SMC1: Nope, the Rayman running power speed is 768, but on pencil it directly goes 512 (normal speed) EAJ2: Because If I take damage i die. Either without dying it would make gain time MDD2: nice idea, I should try. "The only major disappointment is that you didn't skip both Mr. Sax and Skops. Is it not possible to in the GBA? Essentially for PSX/PC you death abuse to the start, go back to the level select and that's it. It keeps your cages as completed since that's the only requirement for Mr. Dark, not beating bosses. " I'm sure for Mr.Sax, but I should try for Skops "The run itself was fantastic. I loved many parts of it and the downtime showoff on many bosses. Improvement you say? looking towards the obsoletion!" Thaanks, I took my old run and restarted from PPW revisiting: On PPW revisitng - AG revisiting- Bongo hills revisiting - allegro presto revisiting i'm currently 400 frames ahead
