What emulator should I use?? I see snes9x is frowned upon now?? I had started a run back in ~2010 on snes9x1.43 for Demon's Crest which had broken 1,500 frames saved. Will I have to start over again since snes9x1.43 is banned now ??

snes9x 1.4x is frowned upon. snes9x 1.5 isn't

I had completed all the route optimization and electrospecter and I were contemplating improvements we could make in the boss battles.

A number would be nice. As in how many frames in are you of the TAS?

virtually completed. The current published record was 130467 and mine must have been somewhere around between 128800-128900. it's been a while. As stated above, the route was optimized to the best of my knowledge/ability and we left off debating boss battle improvements but never were able to follow through because I fell off the planet for a while

Guys, all The Brookman needs to know is which of the following is true: A) You can submit a TAS on snes9x 1.4x that you started before it was deprecated if you have proof. B) You can submit a TAS on snes9x1.4x only if you applied for an exception at the time (for example, SMW 96 exits and SMW2:YI 100% did). BTW, it may be that your TAS syncs on snes9x 1.5x with no changes or only with a fix due to lag frames/loading times being different (such fixes can be automated with LUA). Then there is no need to even bring it up.

snes9x 1.4x is frowned upon. snes9x 1.5 isn't
Correction: snes9x 1.5x is less frowned upon. It's still set for being deprecated some time in the future.

The current ruling is here. The answer is both A and B are true.

Snes9x v1.43 is, as of now, no longer accepted under any circumstances, unless it has been granted a continuance, or if there is proof that the movie was done before January 1st 2013. If a Snes9x 1.43 run is submitted and it's not in the continuances list, nor is there any proof it was done before the cutoff date, it will automatically be rejected.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

Let's say I want to start from scratch though. If I wanted to make a new TAS. Should I use BizHawk or Lsnes?? I saw someone mention they required an unusually high amount of processing for an emulator??

Use snes9x 1.5x unless the behaviour of the game in terms of glitches differs between snes9x 1.5x and Bizhawk (and if you don't do anything crazy, it probably doesn't).

okay, I'm probably just being a moron and over-looking something simple but I'm having a trouble and I can't seem to figure it out. I downloaded snes9x-1.52-rr-r185 but when I load up my rom and go to record from reset it tells me the movie file was not found or could not be opened. is there a setting I could have ticked somewhere by accident that would prevent me from recording from reset?? i can record from whatever the current point is but not from a reset
