This is a run of the obscure port of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater for the Game Boy Color that is focused mor on racing and getting points, than doing various tricks on a fully 3D environment like game. There are various modes in this port, being Championship Mode the main mode.

Game objectives

  • Emulator used: VBA version v23.5-rr-svn421
  • Get the fastest time possible.
  • Winning the championship mode in the last chance.
  • Entertain, mostly in the 2 last tracks.

Comments

Here, I used Bucky Lasek for more speed and jumping. You can get hit by your opponents, but sometimes it gives you more push.

Stage by stage comments

Stage 1: The Street

I intentionally didn't make anything interesting here, but I was concentrated on being fast than being entertaining. Not too much strategy here.

Stage 2: Park

This time, the obstacles were harder to avoid, since they were 2 routes to choose from, but I finnally made it. I also used a boost at the start of the race, that I used in the rest of the tracks.

Stage 3: Downtown

Same as stage 2, but with more jumping.

Stage 4: Harbor

This is the part where the run becames interesting. The stage has the biggest amount of obstacles, so its nice to see how I avoided all of those obstacles. But theres one more thing... the water. I managed to take a route to avoid most of the water parts and that gave me more speed.

Stage 5: Skate Park

The most fun part of the movie. When I was on 3rd place, I performed a certain trick that allowed me to get a bunch of points in one rail, by jumping right back into the rail over and over again and finishing in 1st place.

Other comments

This is more like an exotic run, because of the obscurity of the game and surprising everyone by doing the impressive things in the end. Oh, this is also a childhood game, so thats why I TASed this game. There could be a lot of improvements in the future, since theres no glitches found in this game. If someone could get a screenshot and an encode, I will be thankful.

Noxxa: Cancelling, as this is a testrun and not optimized.

All syllogisms have three parts, therefore this is not a syllogism.

Uh...isn't VBA deprecated for gbX movies? What's the ruling on that? :o

I'd be more concerned about the low number of rerecords and that the stated goal is time but doing tricks seems to pause the game and give nothing but points.

I know that the tricks cost a lot of time and since the rail trick is way more useful than that... I'll remake it. This was more like a testrun than a serious thing, but I said "sure wynaut?"

Please read the movie rules before submitting. They're there to ensure minimal movie quality, since every movie that gets submitted to the workbench causes a small amount of effort behind the scenes (which could add up if everyone erraneously submitted very flawed runs). In the future don't submit your TASes right away: Create a thread about your game (or reuse an existing one) in the appropriate subforum to at the very least state your goals and (optionally) your progress.

It doesn't say anything about not being allowed to submit movies with them. Also, if this is a testrun, then it should be cancelled. Kurabupengin/dekutony, remember the workbench is for final submissions only, not testruns or WIPs.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.
