Operation related to TAS of N64/GC/Wii/PS2 emulator is often investigated.

Cemu, WiiU Emulator, is still in a comparatively early stage of development, but it is already capable of running New Super Mario Bros. U, New Super Luigi U, Super Mario 3D World, Super Mario Maker, Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, Mario Kart 8 and some other WiiU games at full FPS with very little or none visual or sound errors. Cemu has not reached the point to support TAS yet, but seems like it isn't going to take very long. If you're interested please type "cemu.info" in your browser URL and you can download the newest Cemu (1.5.6b, 1.6.0 will come out in a few days). Cemu requires at least 4 GB of memory to run. The speed of your emulation depends on your computer hardware. I'm able to run all the Mario games at 60FPS, this is my hardware Lenovo Ideapad 7000 Laptop Processor: Intel Core-i7 6700HQ @2.60-3.30GHz Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 RAM: 8GB I tried to use Hourglass to run Cemu, but seems like it won't work. Really looking forward to TASing on Cemu! (An Old Screenshot with Cemu 1.5.1p)

There is already a thread for Wii U emulators. Since this has nothing todo with Dolphin, I suggest for someone to merge this thread with that one.

That's something that only mods/admins can do. Sorry for not clearing it up.

1.6.0 is released Personally I don't like it...it in fact slower than 1.5.6b and lags heavily. It's true that some sound and graphics errors are fixed, and Yoshi's Wooly World will run...but I can only get as far as the controller instructions and then Cemu crashes. my hardware: Lenovo Ideapad 7000 Laptop Processor: Intel Core-i7 6700HQ @2.60-3.30GHz Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 RAM: 8GB Hope Cemu improves more in the future

http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/140059-zelda-marks-the-death-of-nintendo-wii-u-confirmed With this out of the way, how much percentage of games (and apps) released for the wii u are playable on Cemu now? I haven't followed it for a while now; is it more active than non-Nintendo console emulators in terms of development?

I give a test for newest CEMU - 1.11.6. Used NSMBU. 1. Sometimes the screen stops for a little time. 2. Sometimes the music plays for several seconds, then enter the view. 3. No tools for TAS. (SL, frame advance, RAM watch&search, lua) 4. The emulator can't make a movie. HOWEVER, I'm glad to see this emulator. Because it's much better than the early Wii's emulator - dolphin. CEMU can run with a whole speed with a high image quality!!! So looking forward to making TAS movies with CEMU in the future! Here's my test: (Encode by NVIDIA's GeForce Experience) Link to video

Hey, so I've been working on a set of TAS tools for Cemu. It isn't released yet, and probably will not have savestates for a long time (if ever), but it will have basic TAS tools like frame advance, TASInput, and movie recording/replaying. Could Cemu get approved as a TASable emulator by using CemuTASTools once it's released?

A hard requirement to be approved for submission is being open source, which Cemu fails right there.

CemuTASTools will be open source though.

The emulator itself has to be open source. This is a hard requirement which will not be changing.

If there's no savestates then how do you redo?

I know this is an old thread, but Cemu 2.0 has been released: https://reddit.com/r/cemu/comments/wwa22c/cemu_20_announcement_linux_builds_opensource_and It's also under an open source license!

Now with the source we now know the emulator is very much nondeterministic (essentially Dolphin dual core on steroids) and would require a lot of modifications to make it deterministic. So we probably shouldn't expect a TAS capable emulator out of this any time. Also when such comes, you could expect the performance to tank a bit.
