This is a tool-assisted speedrun (TAS) on Double Dragon for SEGA Genesis (Submission #2). It is 1 min, 18 sec faster than my previous run. Now it beats all existing records and all knowledge is used!

Movie objectives:

  • Emulator used: GENS-rerecording v11a
  • Aims for the fastest time
  • Take damage to save time
  • Vivacity and energy (You won't be bored watching this!)

My comments:

I expected that someone from judges will watch Aqfaq's test movie and I don't understand why Spikestuff began to calm me (I still had a chance)! I had a great time ReTASing this game, but I wasn't happy when I passed it (3rd time).

Tricks/Glitches

If the player is in the air (jumped) when an enemy went out from building/wall or just keeps standing, it disappears!

Movie comments

Fastest time, improves and etc. Whip is the most powerful weapon in the game (excepting dynamite) and almost all enemies die after the second hit. I've been wrong about beating up enemies with foots and baseball bats! Sorry! Manipulating AI is hard and I was afraid I won't beat some moments in my previous run! The most difficult mission is the 3rd because of the largest number of fights and I was a little upset that I couldn't throw enemies while holding the whip. The most difficult moment in the 4th mission was to take the extreme left position to "kill" the final boss and finish the game faster. Special thanks to Aqfaq for a test movie and RAM adresses though I didn't use them!

Truncated: Judging!
Truncated: Replaced movie with new version which is 1 frame faster.
This TAS is all I hoped it would be. Nice improvements with the new glitches overall and better enemy manipulation. I will accept this movie for the moon category. Congratulations Dimon!

Congratulations!
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

Yeah! This is my first publication! Now I'm player. 5 is probably my score. What is it exactly and how many points can I get per a publication?
TASing is like making a film: only the best takes are shown in the final movie.

http://tasvideos.org/ForumRanks.html#AutomaticallyAssignedForumRanks It seems like it will increase if: -Your movie gets more ratings (not in the forum poll, but on the site itself) -Your movie's average rating increases -Your movie is in a better category (star > moon > vault) ...And this calculation is summed over all non-obsoleted movies you have. It's just for fun, of course.

Thanks, and the last question: Why do I can't comment my submission on YouTube? I can answer the questions about the run.

Well, normal flow is that there is a 'Reply' link below the comment, you click it, type in the box, click 'Post' and it works. What part doesn't work for you and what happens instead?

I can't comment the video using my tablet and my PC is not with me now. I can only complain. Anyway I've written back on users's channels.

The TASVideosChannel videos have old youtube comment systems, from before the Google+ integration. So maybe somehow you're viewing it in a way that can't handle its existence? If you can comment on every other video on youtube and just not ones on TASVideosChannel, that would probably be it.
