Hey guys. It's been a very long time since I've last been to this website, and I would to try and be up-to-date. Specifically for Mupen64. I'm trying to do my own personal TAS of Banjo Tooie, but there are some parts where, when I'm replaying the movie, a level doesn't load. You've all probably talked about this before, but I figure that it's easier to ask personally. Anyways, I'm wondering if I have the right version for Mupen or the right plugins. I have Mupen64 Rerecording 0.5 v8. If that's not the right one, then I would like to know which one. I've also tried to download other versions, but I've failed miserably. Any advice would be nice for someone that's been completely away from things like this for a couple of years.

Yes. For some reason, I can't get it to work.

There is no newer version of mupen. You should try to get get bizhawk to work. Did you install the prerequisites? (although you should probably wait for 1.8.0 before starting a TAS [coming soon])

Yeah, about that. Is there a page or something where I can view a step by step process for a Windows user like me? I'm not exactly a computer expert like I should be.

Install the prerequisites by running the prerequisite installer. Then it should work.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

So you're saying I need to download those prerequisites on my computer, then try to download the actual emulator (which if I'm not mistaken is Bizhawk 1.7.4)? I tried that, and a window that pops up says that it has encountered a problem and cannot open. Is there something I'm missing?!!

You are missing the step where you RUN the prereq installer?

What graphics card do you have? I think that causes problems if it's old.

Can you take a screenshot of the error so we can try to diagnose the problem?

How do you take a screenshot? Like I said, I can't remember a thing on how to use the computer.

This thread is getting too long for what it is. And it is because this is an unacceptable way to ask for help. Please describe what "won't work" means, because there is a ton of things this could mean. Does it load at all? Does it crash, does it give an error? Or is it when you load a rom? You seem to imply in your last post that it is in fact a screenshottable error, which you should have led with in the first place then, at least attempt to describe the error message. With more information, you are wasting everyone's time.

That's the thing. It just tells me that it has encountered a problem and needs to close. It explains NOTHING on what the problem is. Is there more than just installing the prerequisites?

There shoudln't be more than installing prereqs. Your computer needs to be able to support opengl 2.0, you need to look into that. You should also install .net 4.0 manually: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17851 Because the prereq installer can sometimes be tricked, such as if you installed a program that needed it, and uninstalled things, and maybe there are some empty folders laying around.
