Please help us determine what is going wrong. Have you tried these things: Extracted to a new folder with nothing in it? What Version(s) worked? What Version(s) did not work? What error message(s) did you get, if any? Can you post what the event viewer log says? To get the Event Viewer log, enter this command: eventvwr into the Run command. To get to the Run command, press the Windows Key and R at the same time. A small window that says "Run" should appear. Inside Event Viewer go to Windows Logs and then Applications. Look for Error and Warning. The source should say EmuHawk or BizHawk.

Hello everybody, my apologies if this is mentioned elsewhere, I did look at the FAQ and this forum before posting. I am running 64bit Windows 7 Home (Premium?) and since BizHawk 1.7.4 has been released, I haven't been able to start the emulator. I still have 1.7.2 which still starts up just fine. EmuHawk is by far my favorite emulator, and I would love to update to the newest version, 1.8! I have of course tried: Rebooting My Computer Re-installing the prereqs.exe scanned/fixed the registry for problems Setting EmuHawk to run as administrator and tried different compatibility modes disabling Avast shields before running I have installed the different versions in separate folders. I did try and run 1.7.4 on my laptop when I noticed this problem, and it started up no problem on there, but it hadn't had another version on the computer either. If I start the program with Task manager running, I do see it show up in there for a few seconds before closing, and I notice the emulator doesn't get as far as creating it's first run files like the config.ini before it closes. I don't get any error messages from Windows or EmuHawk. So now I'm at a bit of a loss on what to try next. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate them, and I thank you for your time.

What video card are you using? Do you get any error messages? Did you install over the old version?

Did you make sure to download the new release into a fresh folder? Don't copy on top of your old one.

Hello thank you for responding. I am using the on-board graphics from my motherboard, which I realize isn't great. The Display Adapter reports as AMD 760G And no I don't get any errors. The program just silently closes. I tried to open it in a command prompt to see if it would output errors, but I guess only linux command prompts do that? it didn't say anything either.

I'm not aware of any opengl changes we made. But I can tell you, your graphics card doesn't properly support opengl 2.0. I'm not expert on graphics card stuff, but do the usual stuff people should do like update your drivers and whatnot.

Wow, I can't believe I didn't try that before... There was actually an update available for my graphics driver and after updating EmuHawk run! Sorry I should have thought of that myself. We can likely close this topic since it probably only applies to my situation. thanks again!
