I'm true to my word. Now to see how pissed offf Guano is for me finding this trick. It'll be a pain trying to optimize this trick. If this is done in a regular speedrun then I'd advise using the technique that I use in the vid. This is what makes OoTers go nuts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8e7-7Lb3wgU
Awesome :)

I've yet to figure out how much time that'll save over the previous strategy although it does avoid two brief cutscenes.

doing TAS as both, is the first web skip faster or this? obviously tool assisted would let you you do both faster than in the demo vids, but it does suck for Guano that yet again another time saving trick has been discovered. Guano, I say don't give up, keep working on either this or Majora's Mask. Majora's does have the same mechanics, and by the time you finish with that OoT will be fully finished with new discoveries; plus I really want to see MM as that is an amazing game

Very nice discovery, but I don't think it saves time over the infinite sword glitch and skulltula hover... Oh, and Guano hasn't played Majora's Mask yet, so he'll need to enjoy the game before even considering speedrunning it...

it is very similar. It is essentially, mechanics wise the same as OoT, the only thing you'd need to do is memorize where everything is. But in TAS wise, playing the game is the same as OoT; just a different storyline, with a few new features with the masks

You addressing this towards Guano? I wouldn't say the gameplay is that similar. A good player really has to master all three transformations. In any case, I hope he'll decide to give this a try. MM really is too good of a game to miss out on, even if he doesn't end up running the TAS.

Yes, except that the mechanics of the game change dramatically in the 3 other forms. Also, some of the game physics have become more vibrant and differing (see: jumping off of platforms), and the new environments offer new types of interaction in general. While they are very very similar games, they are different enough that you can't immediately pick up one and, without any practice, be as good with it as you are with the other.

I'm afraid not, the nearest point to the boss room is the bit where you did the skulltula hover previously and it isn't close enough to do it I have a vid of the most likely strategy that'll be used in phase 2 of it. mwl, this definitly is quicker because you don't have to land on the switch or open the chest, you can also directly grab the vines when performing the first web trick. The room does definitly load when you reach it. I think the most likely strategy is to grab the vine at the right X-coordinate when the web has broken and then falling from a great height and grabbing the web in the nik of time in order to be boosted through, by the time the switch cutscene finishes, the boost from the skulltula will have already been initiated. EDIT: This is the most likley way of getting into the basement once the glitch has been performed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4CQkmnj1ls

Like Majora's Mask- find fantastic optimizations with that before someone commits to a run of it Guano, I've said before I'll say again- keep going

I think he's just going to wait for the Gannon's Tower first as Kid Link skip to be figured out before moving on....

Really? Like what? I heard a rumor from a guy on another TAS site who says that his friend's cousin's brother said that he heard of a fake wall that you can get pushed through by a boulder after you get the Kokiri sword that will drop you into Ganon's tower (it's only one "n", right?).

There's no logic to that other than being an outright lie.

I don't consider sarcasm of that kind to be nescessary in a forum where constructive criticism/review is desired

That was a sarcastic reply, I'm sure.

It rests on the conviction that you — by your choices, effort and actions — have made yourself into the kind of person able to deal with reality. It is the conviction — based on the evidence of your own volitional functioning — that you are fundamentally able to succeed in life and, therefore, are deserving of that success." - Onkar Ghate

Then let's discuss constructive things, like the possibility of glitching through any wall in the game by jumpslashing at it and having a bomb go off while you're partway through it.

Currently, there are some talks about leaving Kokiri Forest early. While the only proof of this working uses the levitation glitch, it's worth showing some interest in. Don't get your hopes up, though. I don't really see why you would skip doing the Deku Tree first, though. You don't need anything from outside of the forest to beat it optimally.

Maybe Din's Fire for the first web. (not sure if it's burnable or not)
